I have lived in this area my whole life. All I have ever heard from the name Sam and Rosco’s has left my mind and tastebuds eager to experience it for myself. Though not planned, somewhat 16 years of mouth watering conversations finally brought me here. I can now say that after experiencing the food industry for myself, traveling the world and developing a palette for a rainbow of flavor and different styles of cooking, that my words you’re about to receive are within good taste of the industry and the art of cooking. In knowing this information, I would start with the greeter whom was well dressed and respectful. We were walked through to what seemed to be a low lit hotel lobby and seated at our table. The very polite person who served us was extremely knowledgeable of what the specials were and helpful with minor details not listed on the minuscule(and very outdated) menu. It seemed to be an adaptation of a well known Italian chain restaurant, minus the array of different flavors and variety of dietary options, which most of the 3 course meal choices were lacking entirely. The thin crusted, sad excuse for an appetizer was a thin, sad excuse for a puff pastry with mostly diced mushrooms and imitations crab. Also, it was the beginning of an avalanche of lost flavor and lack of innovation that any simple steakhouse or Italian menu should always have. The salad, yet tasty, was a bag of soggy iceberg mix with aged chic pea toppings, drowned in dressing and missing crunch. I can say the highlight of the meal happened to be the Julienned vegetables tossed in mild seasoning as well as the week old roasted/baked potatoes which were also saved by the garlic butter and parsley drench. However, the sad excuse for a NY strip I received was the lowest component. What should have been an explosion of flavor from an excellent cut of meat, was nothing more than a fatty and flavorless blob. The gravy(packaged from Kroger and definitely not a Port reduction as advertised), mushrooms, and cheese over-powered what could have been an easy save with a little sea salt and pepper. Needless to say, without the plethora of adjectives left from this thought, take heed before you spend $ 28 on that $ 9 bottle of wine and $ 24.99 on a steak you could get at a local grocery store and make yourself(I swear it will taste better). With great distaste, it saddens me to review this long standing, hometown– establishment, poorly. And I didn’t even touch on the OTHER dinner course of the night.

I had the Red Snapper with Fennel Tomato on pasta this evening with my daughter and it was FANTASTIC. I’ve lived in town for years, and you can’t get fish like this anywhere else in Douglasville. I usually go when they have prime rib as the special and it is nicely seasoned. The servers are always very professional, and the atmosphere is comfortable.

The service was great, the people were very nice. Thats where it stops for me. The appetizer consisted of frozen egg rolls you can get at Kroger and the local dive bar topps(no offense topps). The rolls were frozen grocery store rolls. I ordered the lasagna and it was bar none the worst I have ever had and I have had frozen. My wife had the tortellini and I promise you I just bought this exact same pasta at Sams Club. The manager was very candid with us and very interested in turnung our experience around. Because of the wonderful staff we will give it 1 more shot for steak.

Service is fast and first class like none other in Douglasville. If you want a special, memorable night dining out, this is the place. Management definitely pays attention to detail. This is a perfect place for a couple or a very large party or private affair. The ambience is delightful. I have personally hosted many large private parties here and have had rave reviews from all the guest. Thank you for your exceptional service.

The restaurant has great ambiance. The portions are very large but some dishes can be overly buttery/oily. I wouldn’t recommend the stuffed mushrooms but the chicken florentine was amazing. Bringing a date here would be great since this is a more upscale Italian restaurant in Douglasville. Highly recommend. Not sure why people gave it bad reviews.

Came here for a surprise belated 60th bday dinner for my aunt. They were very accommodating with our cake and balloons. Dinner was great, everything was tasty and the price was reasonable for the atmosphere. Glad I didn’t pay attention to some of the reviews. Will definitely return.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant all my life. It was named something else about 10 years ago. I know all the waiters and waitresses and they are all pleasant. This restaurant has had ups and downs throughout the years due to change in management. I think they finally have it back together with good food and service. This is my all time favorite restaurant.

Found an excellent restaurant in Douglasville, GA. Who would have thought we could have discovered something other than a chain, which dominate the choices? Sam’s and Roscoe’s is a lovely restaurant, primarily Italian with white tablecloths and nice ambience — soft lights, comfortable chairs. Service and food were wonderful as well. Highly recommended

My best food experience in Douglasville, by far. I visited this restaurant twice between February and May of 2015. I was pleasantly surprised both times, which lead to this review. The staff are professional and friendly. The atmosphere is soothing and pleasant. Prices are very reasonable. The food is fantastic. Our party ordered stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and bruschetta as appetizer. They all arrived in-time, tasted great, and were very well presented. My favorite was the calamari. Both times, I decided to go with the special. The first time, they had stuffed fillet with reduced wine sauce. It was cooked perfectly to my order and was very well presented. The sauce was certainly a winner. The second time, I had New York steak which was also fantastic. Our party also had very positive feedback on the Fettuccine Alfredo and the special fish. The Crème brûlée was also amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant. A great option for business meetings, as well as romantic dinners. I visited with family, and we all felt very welcome.

Sam & Rosco catered our wedding, Not only everything was fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection, but also the service was courteous with no complaints. We received many compliments from our guests about the food and service. They made our wedding glow and kept our guests happy with their food. I totally recommend them. Above all, Rosco who takes care of the catering part is a very pleasant person to deal with

Having waited tables for 5 years — customer service is a huge deal to me! Sam & Rosco’s has the absolute best service. Fine dining in Douglasville sounds like an oxymoron but au contraire, you have to experience this nice hidden gem. I have dined there numerous times and have used their catering services. And they never disappoint. Their bruschetta(Ah-mazing), pistachio crusted snapper(not on the regular menu but when they have it on the specialty items, it’s a must have). Another thing I would like to add is the updated décor. I love how they have redesigned and made every thing more fresh feeling. I know the owners personally and they are the kindest, most selfless folks. Be sure to ‘shop local’ and try them out! They have given so much to this community and deserve your support. We love Sam & Rosco’s!

Probably one of Douglasville’s best kept secret. Compared to other restaurants in the area, they should be packed all the time. Highly recommend the Salmon. It’s served with lemon butter sauce, veggies, and roasted red potatoes. Very good. Customer service is second to none. They make you feel valued and if you have any issues with your meal they’ll go above and beyond in fixing it to please. Our server and owner also gave some excellent tips on wine selection and tips on how to shop for wine. Been 3 times already. Looking forward to the next time.

The Tiramiso is lovely. The Silver Cream pie is awesome! The salads are very filling. Our wait staff earned their 15 percent tip easily. This is one of the the nicest date night restaurants.

Very disappointing experience. The décor is very dated — felt I was going back in time. While the service was good(very attentive, helpful waitstaff), the food was not at all good. The bread rolls were oily globs of dough. Calamari was all batter, no calamari. Most of the menu seemed like a trip back in time back to the 70s, so I thought I would be safe with the NY Strip steak. Not a great cut, and drowning in BBQ sauce — which made for a disgusting combination. I would not come back here again.

Simply not a fan. Very over priced for subpar food. There is a reason they are never busy. Service is great but all else falls short right down to them charging you a «sharing fee» if you split an entrée. The prices are far too high as it is and that added insult to injury. Lastly, we do eat at nice restaurants routinely and I’m not at all opposed to a $ 100 dinner for 4 but, in this case it’s about $ 60 too much.

What an unexpected surprise. I was in town with a friend and we decided to try this place out as there wasn’t too many options in town. From the moment we walked in we felt a nice comfortable atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the stake and my friend had the salmon. The steak was so juicy I would rate it as one of the top steaks I have ever had and my friend couldn’t stop bragging about her salmon. In the middle we decided to switch plates to make sure it wasn’t just us. When we finished we both confirmed that these guys had their cooking down to an art. My friend is definitely coming back and I will for sure visit this place the next time I’m back in town.

My heart aches to give Sam and Roscoe’s only two stars. I used to eat there on a regular basis many years ago on special occasions. I was back in the area and visited there around 7:30 on a Saturday night. It was not crowded. The décor was the same as it was many years ago. VERY dark(single bulb chandeliers,) and layered tablecloths. The menu seemed to be the same too. I haven’t seen Steak Diane for some time now. My husband liked his chicken dish. I tasted it and found it OK. My cannelloni was a disappointment. The sauce was watery and I had to dig through a large layer of rubbery cheese to get to the pasta. It was a very small portion. Not nearly worth the $ 15.95 I was charged. Especially since I could have gotten a better tasting and bigger cannelloni for $ 11.95 just a couple of miles away. In contrast to what several Unilocalers wrote I liked both the rolls and the salad. Perhaps, in our more health conscience society, they many need to scale back on the oil. The service was excellent! I would give the service a five star rating! When I hesitated about ordering a glass of the house wine our server offered me a sample. I also noticed that servers were not tied to just their tables. If a server saw your water was low they refilled it regardless if it was their table or not. Same with clearing away dirty dishes. I really wish that this restaurant would hire a consultant(Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsay maybe?) to come in and update/fix both the food, menu choices, and the décor. When I hear this had been done I will return. Would hate to lose this Douglasville landmark.

Once upon a time, this place may have been the«it» place to wine and dine in Dville simply because there were not too many restaurants in this area back then. However, after my trip last week, I definitely will have to bring down the hatchet in this place and say that it is time for them to close the doors. Firstly, they are quite expensive. The price itself is doable but the kind of food you get for the price makes me just shake my head. First of all, the bread was really doughy and ridiculously oily. It made me wonder if they deep fry the thing or they added fried garlic dripping in oil and it got passed onto it? Anyways, it was a big fat disappointment. The salad, however, was amazing considering it was entirely made of iceberg lettuce, a couple of cherry tomatoes, BEETS?!? and no croutons! I give them two thumbs up on that because their oil and vinegar dressing really stood out; but after that, pretty much everything went down hill. We ordered the New York Steak that came with veggies and as a side item, we chose roasted potatoes @ $ 22. At first, I thought the steak was ok, but I quickly realized that it was still a bit cold. Although we have ordered it medium rare, it shouldn’t have that low of a temperature. I also think they forgot to season the steak because it didn’t taste anything! I mean, the burgers at Wendy’s have more flavor than that. I think they were heavily relying on this thick, BBQ sauce that kind of reminded me of Jack Daniel’s sauce(which is all good, but not on a steak like this. I’m a big believer that good steak SHALLNEVER ever need additional sauce when being eaten. Good steak should be eaten ASIS.) The veggies were mostly just steamed broccoli, and the roasted potatoes were the best thing on that plate, but it’s nothing I can’t already cook at home myself. I ordered the Veal Marsala at about $ 18 a plate and that was the biggest disappointment of the night. The veal tasted like pork… thin slices of awful pork. The pasta with the Marsala sauce was vinegary?? The pasta more than likely was straight out of the box from Walmart or the dollar store… I maybe wrong on that one but regardless, you get the point: the whole plate was awful. The ambiance is the most revered in this place since it is dark and can be considered romantic but honestly not my thing. Our service was good. We used a groupon to come here and unfortunately, I had two since I was really excited about this place, and now, Im trying my damnest to find a way to get rid of my 2nd groupon.
