Darla gets two stars because she was friendly and super nice but I asked for some subtle highlights that wouldn’t have a lot of difference when roots grew in and she made me super blonde all over. Is a pretty color but not at all what I asked for. I’m in the military and need something natural looking, this is gonna take work to maintain or I’ll have to completely dye over it. I asked for long layers that framed my face and I have two layers that are almost the same length. Then while she was washing my hair she started arguing with a co worker about her schedule being double booked. That’s when her attitude shifted and she seemed to be rushing me out the door bc she had another client waiting. Only reason I didn’t ask her to correct the cut is because I needed to pump, mom probs.

This is the best kept secret in Delaware. Jesse Allen is a master at color and cuts. I drive all the way from Wilmington (about 60 miles) every 6 weeks because I can’t find anyone in Wilmington as good with curly hair! And Loretta Williams is amazing with her Brazilian Blowout! I would not trust anyone else. I have extremely curly hair and she gets it straighter than I could have hoped for. Today was my second one. The first lasted over 5 months. I have already scheduled my third! If you need a great stylist, call Jesse or Loretta! I won’t go anywhere else!

After trying all different salons (some very high end) for a year+ after moving here, I finally found Loretta. She is awesome for many reasons, but foremost I appreciate her because she took the time to have a proper consult before starting. She took time to actually listen and discuss the hair cut and color I was looking for. She didn’t just guess or assume what I wanted like all the other salons and she didn’t rush. I also greatly value her experience and expertise. She’s been cutting hair for many years and will cut/​color mine for as long as we live here!

As a client, Kelly did my hair and she is fantastic!!! Love her as a person and she is a truly talented stylist! I have Always been treated well in the salon on my visits. Now currently as an employee, I still Love her as a stylist, as a person, & as a boss!!! Everyone working here are friendly people who care about others. Jesse and Kelly have been very good to me as an employee! They are awesome bosses! The stylists are well educated (unlike the one review suggests) and very personable to the clients! As a former salon owner & manager myself, I would train stylists who needed it. We aren’t perfect but Jesse is continually striving to making us better! My review is mostly based on my hairstylist Loretta W. I have never gone to anyone else but her, accept when I absolutely had to. She is beyond great. She turned down a job to work professionally in NYC because she didn’t want to have to move to another state. She is worth every penny and then more. I have never had a bad haircut from her and only one time did I not like my hair color, and she scolded me when she found out that I didn’t like it, she told me that she would’ve fixed it that day! It’s not because she did a bad haircoloring job, it was just because I wasn’t used to having it the color that it was. She is so wonderful and sweet! She might take an extra amount of time or might be running late, once in a while, but that is only because she is a perfectionist and will not let you leave until she feels like it’s her best and you are happy with her work, only those of us that have been going to her for years, know her true expertise. She is no joke. She is not your standard hair stylist. She is an artist. She is the best of the best. She has more hair experience in her one finger than 90% of hair professionals out there and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. I’ve been going to her for 15+ yrs now and I’ve had to go to others because I lost contact with her a few times and never did I find anyone even close to her ability no matter how much I paid. She was born with her talents, she wasn’t made.
Oh, and JK Tangles is a nice and clean salon. It’s run professionally and they treat you like a person no matter who you are. They are not snobby or have a «holier than thou» establishment. The owners are very sweet and respectable people and make sure they run a professional environment for all patrons who walk through their doors. You won’t be disappointed.

Okay, beautiful place. The hair stylists are somewhat trained. the salon is very accommodating. I went in to correct some color I goofed up on my own and, although I would’ve liked to have kept the honey color I was going for as opposed to walking out with burgundy brown hair, the hair stylists got my hair one color without any error. What bugged me was that I warned the receptionist that my hair is extremely thick and coarse and she assured me that it was fine. Well, after the color was washed out, it was not fine. The blow dryer was waved over my head on cool for about five minutes (coarse hair should be combed piece by piece under a heated blow dryer) so of course my roots were soaking wet despite my dry ends. As a result, I could hear my hair frying in the flat iron on account of the dampness and the moisturizer it lacked (the heat protectant was a start but oils are a must when applying heat to coarse hair). Finally, the hair stylist opened her drawer and asked me which brush I wanted to use. to do my own hair! Yes, she literally said, «Just do it how you usually do it.» I was rightfully charged for the dye-​job but she charged me thirty dollars for the blow-​out I so obviously did not receive. Additionally, I felt put on the spot when the receptionist asked me about leaving a tip right in front of the hair stylist. I most definitely overpaid. The charge for the so-​called blow-​out should have been tip enough. I walked out of there with the perimeter of my head heat damaged and flat ironed to a crinkle and the middle in childish, wet, thick pigtails. I was expecting that fresh just-​left-​the-​salon feeling): Oh, well. Won’t be going back and would NOT recommend.

So first off, my first experience was awesome! So i took my sis there aftr the new yr to get her hair cut and colored there. Sadly, it did not live up to expectations or evn come close. The color was okay and the hair cut was horrible! The hairdresser (i dnt remember her name) didnt know what she was doing at all. I evn had pictures of the haircut my sis wanted. It wasnt hard at all. Just somthng that resembled a line bob. Well anyway, during the whole haircut we had to repeatedly tell her, to cut shorter and that the way she was cutting my sis hair did not resemble the photos we had. Well, needless to say, we left with a unwanted hair cut but then decided that we were not going to keep the haircut, seeing as how we paid for it. So we went back and another hairdresser finished what the other hairdresser could not do. Well aftr that incident i decide (silly me) to give it one more try with another hairdresser and sadly it was a epic failure!!! I went in for color and the hairdresser could not provide the colors i wantd. She tried several times and could not. And through this whole process othr hairdressers are tryng to tell my stlyest wat to do and shes doing everything there saying. And when my hair wasnt turning out like it was suppose to shes saying «i shoulda went with my gut instinct and did what i thought would of worked». But no matter what she did or what others said, she could not deliver. Felt like i got stuck with ANOTHER hairdresser that didnt know what she was doing. I was there for hours and through out this time i heard two hair dressers comment that thy dont and wouldnt let the other hairdressers in there salon do there hair. Made it sound like it was a bad thing! I knew i was definitely in the wrong place as soon as i heard that! Well needless to say i left without the color i wantd. I have dark hair but that should not matter with a stylest who knows her stuff. Because another salon, from my hometown, got any colors i wanted perfect every time. And i mean every time, evn with different hairdressers. Sadly though since my hubby is in the military i had to recently move up here and look for new hair salons. And JK TANGLES IS ONE PLACE I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AGAIN OR REFER ANYONE ELSE!!!

Walled in with at least three different very dark red/​black colors in my hair due to years of coloring, wanted to go much lighter so the gray wasn’t as noticeable, Jesse did an amazing job, took his time, walked me through everything he was going to do and I walked out of there a blonde, with red and light brown low lights. .looking amazing! And the cost for him working on my hair for a big chunk of the day, was less then I would’ve spent at other salons for Just a color and low lights!

Loretta was referred to me by a military member & has been making my hair fabulous for a couple of years! She’s the best and I’m so glad I found her!!! She listens to what I want, uses her experience and creates awesomeness :)

Loretta has been doing my hair for nearly 15 years now! Even though I have moved out of the area, I come back to visit often and always make sure to book an appointment. She transformed me from a frumpy brown to a radiant red years ago and I couldn’t be happier!

Staff is very friendly, just had to wait almost 40 min to get my hair done. Great job but just had beach waves done and paid $ 45 without tip. Thought a little to expensive.

Was in town for a competition and picked this place cause of the Unilocal reviews. Martha did my updo and it was absolutely stunning! So much so that I took pics and posted on fb… lol this place looks deceiving on the outside. It’s really a hip salon with cool hairdressers! Saw a lot of happy customers with pretty hair styles.

Lori (SP?) is my hair queen! I came in wanting an ombré and she is the first stylist that actually came through with it. Not only that, she nailed it. She has a vast knowledge of hair color and she is a master stylist. She gave me waves that lasted in my hair for days and the tips she gave me for the upkeep in color and style of my hair were priceless. The only sad thing is that I no longer live in DE so I can only see her once a year, but you better believe i’ll be back so she can wave her magic comb and send me off with movie star quality hair.

I am crazy about Jacinda. As a person, she is sweet, friendly, does not gossip, and genuinely listens to you. As a hair stylist, she is consistent and highly skilled. She wants you to be happy and you will be.
I really can only speak of Jacinda.
I’ve read other reviews elsewhere that talk about Loretta and the only complaints I’ve heard pertain to certain hair dressers being a little gossipy or pushing hair products (where doesn’t that happen?).
Try this place.
