The Farm Bar and Grille

We have been to the Farm in Kittery several times and been happy, so we decided to try Dover. Big disappointment. We asked for a table outside and were told there would be a wait. When we mentioned we saw several empty, the hostess said that they didn’t want to overload their waitresses. Got out there in decent time, but waited almost 15 minutes for anyone to come to the table. Ordered drinks and dinner together — I got a burger and my fiancé got the BBQ platter. Food came out in reasonable time, but we had to ask for salt, pepper, ketchup, and my fiancé also asked for Sriracha sauce — kind of gross that the Sriracha had a long white hair stuck to the bottle and the tip was caked with dried sauce. Our server showed up literally seconds after someone brought out our food and asked how it was, was pretty much the last we saw of her.
The food was mediocre at best — my «half pound» burger was tiny (filled maybe half the bun) and the medium rare I asked for was more like medium well. Her ribs were all dried out, and the medium rare steak tips ranged from medium to burned depending on which one you ate. The pulled pork was good, didn’t try the chicken.
After we sat with empty glasses and pretty much empty plates, we finally snagged another server to ask for a to-​go box. Our server showed up for us to ask for the check (no offers of refills, didn’t ask how the meal was, etc). She brought it and basically disappeared again. So we got up and tried to pay our tab but the hostess station was empty except for customers and the bartender said she couldn’t cash out another server’s check. Found our server and cashed out, but she couldn’t be bothered to wait for us to sign the CC slip, just told us to «leave it somewhere».
We would have preferred to say something right there and then, but we couldn’t even find anyone to pay attention to us long enough to do that, so I’ll post online instead.
Never again.

We made our first visit on a Thursday afternoon. All the staff was friendly. Parking was easy being during the week. We sat outside and over looked the river and some boats. Our waitress was quick and attentive. My husband had the wings and said they were good. I had the seared ahi and it was yummy. The fries and fried zucchini were really good! We would for sure visit again on a quiet day and enjoy the weather.

Ate here today for the first time after hearing nothing but good things, and I have to say that overall I was impressed. The portions were huge for the price and my drink was probably the best mixed drink I’ve ever tasted. French fries were delicious, though I would suggest not ordering a burger well done even if that’s how you usually prefer them. The booth was not terribly comfortable and the service was a bit slow, but overall I was impressed and I will definitely be back.

Ate here for the first time earlier today, I had heard nothing but good things and wanted to check it out for myself.
I got the Eggsplotion burger which came with a side of fries and pickle. The fries were good, but I wish they had been thicker, they were quite small and very dark in color, but not crispy. The burger itself was good, I asked for medium well, but it was more well done and burnt on the outside.
Service was slow, we arrived a little after 11:30, so it was not busy by any means. Our server never came back to ask if we wanted refills on drinks the whole time we were there.
Honestly, I wouldn’t go back again for the food, but if I were in the area I might consider going for drinks out on the patio.

Ate here last week, and was disappointed in the food and service. Ordered the pinapple pork pizza and it was soaked with balsamic. Mushy crust and the pork was over cooked. Our server was a nice kid but let our drinks run dry and we had to wave down another server to get service. I was expecting more, and wish the experience was better.

Worst service ever. Food came out at three different times my son got his cheeseburger 35 mins after the rest of us! Will not be back save ur money and patience!

We have eaten here a few times. I do recommend trying it out. They have a few location and have eaten at one of the other ones as well. I have had the fish tacos twice, you can get grilled or fried fish. I prefer fried when available. The piece of fish were huge! I’m not a fan of the ‘salsa’ they give you too top them with but that doesn’t stop me from getting them! I would prefer a cabbage slaw or tropical salsa to top them with. Our friend got a haddock sandwich which was also huge and yummy. Also the pulled pork and pineapple pizza was also delicious! And very creative specialty drinks!

Went for a work lunch, only people in the place, the food took over an hour. Ridiculous. Drive to Brentwood and get Goody Cole’s if you want real BBQ.

I’ve been a few times. Food is okay, service has been the worst thing most times I’ve been so I stopped going. Sorry I just can’t be bothered to pay for bad service when I go out. Too many other places to go with better service.

Went to The Farm for lunch today for a pre-​Thanksgiving lunch with my colleagues at work. I’ve been here a few times previously, but not much lately. It has always been average, but it was a nice day and we decided to walk.
Folks, our lunch was awful. We all ordered the $ 5 burger special, two medium and two medium well. Three were absolutely raw and all of them were badly burned on the outside. Two people asked for a new burger and I just took two bites and had the server take it away. It was beyond gross.
It is too bad because this place is convenient to my office, but I will never go back. Raw food is not acceptable. Our waitress did her very best to make a bad situation better, but there was nothing she could do about the horrendous quality control coming out of the kitchen. This was purely a management issue. However, no manager approached us, nor did they take anything off the bill. Clearly, the only person that cared was the server. She had two new burgers prepared to go and was really apologetic.
I hate leaving a review like this, but people need to know how truly awful it was.

I loved the farm for many years, however a particular waitress that was fired (rightfully so) Laura Teves. She also stole money out of my purse on top of acting insanely rude. I will never return knowing she still spends time there. She is a thief and an addict. I’m pretty sure that you can look up the kittery location and see what she what she is capable of!

Food is good, service was horrible!!! Brought us the check before even clearing the dinner plates… guess we didn’t want another drink or dessert… :-(

Great service and food. 1^st time here and we really enjoyed it. They forgot out wings but that was fine because our meal was huge

Nothing like taking my wife here on a Sunday night for our anniversary dinner only to find the kitchen manager so ridiculously drunk at the bar that he is yelling profanities, inappropriately grabbing both men and women, and telling non-​employees to head down into the kitchen. When our food did come out, my wife’s food was cold and mine undercooked. Saw a bartender fill an Aroma Joe’s styrofoam cup with some booze for an employee that was working.
This place is hit or miss to begin with, but this was horrible. We won’t be back and will be sure to tell everyone.
Also– not sure that it is a good sign employees ordered in Chinese food to eat at the bar.

Why ruin a good thing? This place was awesome when it first opened a few years ago, but now they suck. The chefs in the kitchen are all local rejects that have cooked in just about every kitchen in Dover. I wouldn’t even call them chefs. Chicken tenders are the only good thing going for the farm. Congratulations farm bar n grill you can fry a chicken tender!!! Go to Christopher’s bar and grill instead. Your welcome.

Service here is awful. Takes forever to get your food and when you do it’s cold.
Not sure what’s changed here but used to be good. I might have a beer here but will never eat here again.
Had a great happy hour until recently now it’s $ 1 drafts and domestic beers and ends at 5 now.
This place needs a professional manager not the kids the owners have hired over the last couple years.

On Tuesday evening my wife, daughter, and myself visited «The Farm». They had been before but it was my first visit. I can’t believe that I have lived in Dover for many years and never gave it a try. WHAT was I thinking?! I have been missing out on this for soooo long!
We ordered the Mozzarella bites and the Barbecue Pulled Pork Nachos as appetizers. I have to say that when I saw these nachos making there way to our table that I was a bit embarrassed. These things needed their own zip code… HUGE!
For the meal portion we all just ordered burgers of different varieties and those were HUGE as well. Great burgers. This was the first time that I have ever had to take an entire burger home with me as the appetizers «destroyed» me.
The thing that stood out even above the food was the service. Our server was KATIE and can’t possibly compliment her enough. We eat out a few times a week and I would say that maybe there is a 20% chance of finding really good service at any place that we choose, let alone OUTSTANDING service. Add a personality like hers to that service and we have a place that we would return to even if the food was merely average.
We are very satisfied and can say that the Groupon that we used worked as intended by the business. We will return a few times a month now with OR without a Groupon AND we will always ask for Katie!

Food was very good! We ordered the nachos which have layers in between the chips consisting of cheese, BBQ sauce, pulled pork, and other normal toppings. They gave us sides of sour cream and guacamole for the chips as well. We could have just eaten the Nachos for the meal as it was huge!
For dinner I had the highly rated tuna volcano which was a nice flavorful light dinner! I would eat this again. My wife had the West Coast burger which came with a huge topping of avacado, she said it was good but couldn’t finish it cause she ate lots of nachos. The kids had grilled cheese and my daughter said the chicken fingers were huge and good! All portions were big.
We plan to visit again!

I «checked in» at the wrong Farm Bar and Grille today and then realized it is because the very newest one in Kittery, where we went, does not yet have a Unilocal page. Therefore, this review is for the Kittery restaurant — same place, different location. I believe they have the same menu. I’ll transfer the review once they have a page set up.
All in all, we loved it. Attentive service and very good food. I had the haddock casserole with the Ritz crumb topping, one of my all-​time favorite dishes to make at home. Fresh fish, no browning anywhere. I also had the french onion soup which was the BEST I’ve had in a while — salty and filled with fresh herbs you could see. So freaking good.
Now, my almost-​four-​year-​old daughter ordered the kid’s burger and fries. The burger came and it was clearly meant for Paul Bunyan. The bun was tiny, yet the burger was immense. My husband wouldn’t have been able to finish it if he tried. Not that I’m complaining — she eats it cut up so it didn’t matter to her. But it was so hilariously large, I should have taken a picture — especially of her giant, wide eyes when it was set in front of her. «This is for me???»
My husband has the pulled pork burrito which he loved. I stole some of the shredded pork from him to test and I agreed — delish.
Great service. We had a waitress who checked in with us every few minutes which was necessary with two misbehavin’ kids. She made sure we had everything we needed; she was a rock star.
The back deck looks awesome. We can’t wait for the weather to warm so we can come back and hang on that deck with some adult drinks.

We went here for Valentines Day and LOVED it! The atmosphere is cozy. We sat right next to the gas fire place which was great considering there was a blizzard outside.
I had the apple sangria which was delicious. For dinner I had the tuna volcano which was amazing! My boyfriend had the steak tips which were just slightly over cooked but still tasted great.
Our waiter Bill was friendly and very attentive. We cannot wait to go back!
