YOLO Winery

I wanted SO BADLY to love this place, but I find so many things unappealing:
1. Like most people, we went for the wines, which are made in-​house. They don’t have a vineyard, so I’m not sure where they get their grapes, but their wine is the least wine-​like bottles of wine I’ve had since I tried Arbor Mist when I was 19.
Our table had four different bottles over the course of the night. I wish I could remember the names — they were supposed to be clever, but I just found they missed the mark. The various flavors were strawberry, black cherry, blackberry, and peach. They divide their wines by Dry and Semi-​Sweet, but you may as well say they are Sweet and Semi-​Sweet.
2. We also went for a quiet night out to chat, but were welcomed with a loud «vocal impressionist» who sang to backing tracks and dressed in coinciding costumes. This man did not take a break.
3. Our server was not helpful, nor was she polite. When I arrived I explained I would need a few minutes to select. She was back within seconds, so I felt pressured to make a selection. She recommended the strawberry (Never again). She then came back when my friend arrived with cupcakes (PRO: They let you bring in food) and hovered over us, obviously suggesting she’d like to be offered one. We didn’t.
4. And finally — the name of this place?!? YOLO is a 15 minute trend that is no longer clever and should not be branded. Poor naming, in my opinion.
Out of all the local wineries and hangouts, I will likely be going elsewhere the next time my friends and I want a girls night out.

The man who owns this place is a local who moved to Florida but recently moved back to Dover with his wife and opened up YOLO. Gloria and Kim are absolutely a joy to be around and definitely know their wines.
You can get 7 tastes of wine for 5 dollars and we purchased a delicious bottle of semi sweet wine for 15.
The atmosphere and vibe is jubilant and inviting. And will definitely come back in next time in town.
