I give My Favorite Things no stars. I consigned about 5 or 6 pair of shoes of which a couple pair were brand new. One pair I purchased from them and never wore. Paid them around $ 60 for those shoes. Well, I went back into the store about a month after I dropped off my shoes. None of my shoes were on the rack or on display anywhere in the store. I called them the next day to ask did this mean that my shoes sold. I wasn’t given a straight answer and was told that information wouldn’t be available until check day which was 3 months after I dropped the shoes off. Well today is check day. I called them to ask if they had a check ready for me. They said yes. I asked for how much. $ 11.00. They said they sold 1 pair. I asked them what happened to my shoes because they were not in the store when I visited a month ago. I was told that my shoes were there in the store and that they don’t know where I looked when I came in. I told them that they are scamming people. They told me that they have been in business for 30 years. I then told them that they have been scamming people for 30 years. Keep the $ 11, I don’t want it. Stay away from consigning anything at this store. They are not on the level.

To get it out of the way, the store seemed generally nice and well stocked. That said, I stopped by to consign some items. The lady who was excepting items acted like I was Oliver Twist asking for more porridge. I ended up taking my items to Goodwill. If you don’t enjoy being treated like a punk, then I suggest you do the same.

I’m a plus size, and many of the clothes they have are outdated and look very worn. The condition of the clothes is not reflected in the inflated prices. I used to buy more when they were in Westmont, but it seems like the pricing has jumped once they moved to the new store. There’s a Goodwill in the same strip mall. You will get the same quality clothes for a much cheaper price.

I didn’t buy anything here but it’s not a typical thrift store. It looks like an antique store if anything. If I had my own home, I would definitely come here first. They had HUGE mirrors with beautiful frames that I loved… I wish I could have one. :( They have cute faux bouquets as well as designer purses that were gently used. Anyone should stop here just to look around.

I won a 25.00 gift certificate. I didn’t use it that day. Audrey said that had expired when I went back to us it like 6mos later. She is a unpleseant shrued lady, its all about her not about customers. And the prices are too high for casual clothes. I go in from time to time to check on dates of things, the tags and dates change!

The one star is for the really sweet younger sales clerk who stayed upbeat and chatty despite the other outrageously rude sales woman. The only way I would EVER go back to this store would be if I were completely positive that the middle aged brown haired ‘pissed off at the world’ woman was not going to be there. I walked in at 430pm.(first off the store closes at 5pm which makes it almost impossible to get to this store from work.) and felt I was being pushed out the entire time I was there. The woman was so rude that by the time I left, I was visibly angry… at her for being such a B$%^@!!! and at myself for not confronting her. I bought a black skirt that is perfect for concert dress and saw lots of other lovely things. but I am sorry, I simply can never go back to this store again.

To the woman in the St Charles shop on the eve of Wednesday, November 29th: yes, you Audrey Butterfuss: I was in the shop and I found you very rude. You are in a business to serve, not cast attitude. Most of the dresses and gowns look as if Nancy Regan’s closets had been raided in the 1980s. This is not a shop for anyone under the age of 70 years of age. When someone is in the shop, you put down your pen and call attention to your guest, not make the guest feel as if they are putting you out. You lack warmth and your shop looks cheap. Get over yourself. I hope you fail, as you fail at customer service as well as fashion.

I feel sorry for those with bad experiences, but I really like this place! Here is more information about it: 1. Pricing: It is a consignment store — which means they sell gently used(for the most part) clothing. As opposed to a thrift store — which usually takes donations for charity, the people who bring clothing to a consignment store actually expect(or hope) to get a percentage of the sale back. When you shop at a consignment store you will notice that there will be several prices on a tag — the first price is always the highest. This price is how much the item costs when it first is put out on the sales floor. The longer the item sits in the store, the cheaper it gets(also the less money the person who put the item into consignment gets). So watch the tags and make sure your know what the date it. 2. Brands: I have seen everything from Gucci, Ralph Lauran, Chico’s(bought a few pairs of pants new with tags for $ 20), Ann Taylor, Talbots, down to Limited and some of the Target Brands. There is a general smattering of European names(and sizes). 3. The People: There are a few ladies who work there often who are very sweet. I have also encountered some rude ones — eh, it is a store, isn’t it always that way? 4. The Quality: Some items are brand new, others gently used, but watch out for an occasional stain, rip, broken zipper, when you shop.

Let me begin by saying I often do consignment, I wanted to try somewhere new. Very nice store, clean and well organized. Lots of designer pieces, St. John and Escada… figured this was a great shop to sell my designer duds! I unloaded tons or Seven jeans, Banana Republic dresses, and cashmere sweaters! Also brand new shoes and gently used heels, boots, flats. I felt confident enough to consign a vintage authentic Louis Vuitton garment bag the owner assured me she was familiar with high end designers. We had a verbal agreement that if the Louis did not sell at a discussed amount I would have the bag returned to me. With Chanel jewelry and mink coats on display I was very confident with our discussion. Fast forward to the three month consignment end. I entered the store and requested my check with a smile. Keep in mind I delivered, including bags and shoes, perhaps fifty items. I received an itemized check, stating nine items were sold, in the amount of one hundred dollars. I was stunned. Nine items sold in three months out of fifty? Alright… well I requested the return of my Louis bag as discussed, I was told the bag was sold for seventy five dollars, a price well under what the owner and I had agreed on, and that the owner of the shop was unavailable to speak with me. This type of vintage bag fetches between four and five hundred dollars on eBay. My mistake… my big mistake. I have never walked out of a consignment shop with a check less than three hundred dollars, and only nine items sold? I would have rather donated every item to a women’s shelter than given this lady one item and one dime. I also was told items not sold would be given to a charity of which no person working in the store seemed to have any information about. Lesson learned.

I was a little underwhelmed at this consignment spot. If you want a fancy dress for $ 50, then this spot may be gold. However, there was a ton of Express and Limited type clothing, and the pricing seemed higher than it would be on sale at the store itself. There’s a spattering of antiques and dishes and such throughout, but I found the store to be disappointing. The jeans/dress pants selection sucked, and some of the items seemed Salvation Army worthy. Check it out for dressy type stuff, but expect to pay the price. I wouldn’t step in here for vintage chic or more casual clothing.

This is a bit of a higher end thrift shop. I really like it, though. It has some good quality clothes and it has plus sizes for us bigger gals. The prices can be a bit confusing, though… They have 3 different prices on their tags. Depending on the date shown, you get a certain price. I would rather have all one price(preferably the cheaper one.)

If this place is still open, it is a great vintage clothing shop, fire trap, but great vintage clothing and costuming. A few smattered antiques here and there and some pieces of jewelry. Haven’t been here since I was pregnant, so I am not sure if the rumors of their closing are true, I’ll have to check.
