I was impressed with my visit to this store. I started out thinking I was going to pick out what I wanted and leave, but when I saw how clean and spacious this store was, I felt compelled to write a review. This store had fresh produce and every aisle I went down was super neat. I even found items I have not seen at other 99 cent stores. The team was welcoming and found it funny when I asked if the store was new. I live in a city that does have a 99 cent store(which was recently opened), but I am thinking I should just take the drive and come to this location for the ease of finding everything that I need for that wonderful price. I forgot to mention that they had carts with free merchandise. Nice! The only gripe I could think of is a congested parking lot. Take some time to view a couple of my pix.

The only reason I go to this 99cents is for their gift bags. Unfortunately, their gift bag selections have changed drastically. First of all, they changed the lay out of the entire store. I felt very uncomfortable because it was TOOCROWDED. I understand it is a business, but at least think of your customers personal space. 99cent stores are known for selling crap and I was hoping for less crap at this store. No organization of the gift bags whatsoever. As I tried to rummage through the gift bags, they literally just fell one at a time. I could immediately tell that there was nothing worth buying. Expect to find your generic 99cents gift bags here. This means your large and small sizes of bags. I was very disappointed to find no special designs(I once was able to do) at this 99cents. AVOIDTHEIRSO-CALLEDBRANDEDSOFTDRINKS: THEYTASTEDAWFUL!!! NOTHINGLIKETHEORIGINALSOFTDRINKTASTE.(example: Sunkist) Also, avoid their $.40 small bag of chips. The chips were distorted looking, different colors than the original, and had an aftertaste. Not cool! Will not be returning to this 99cents store location. GROSS!

Their stuff keeps getting cheaper in quality and now they charge more than $ 1. Some times also the quality goes down.

IMONLYPUTTING A STARBECAUSE UnilocalISMAKINGME* Worst service ever, this short girl with long red or Burgundy hair she first ignored the lady infront of me because she was too busy talking to what im guessing friend’s? I don’t know but she was being so rude then she started to ring me up and she was so rude she said hello with a horrible rude tone, she didn’t even tell me my total and when I asked her to double bag my soda she rolled her eyes and said yea with an attitude, I’m most definitely not going back there.

There is a worker with red or burgundy hair that is so rude and disrespectful! She is smacking her gum and has a face like she doesn’t even want to be there. Also, she doesn’t say thank you or have a nice day, she just gives you your change and that’s it. You’re suppose to have a smile on your face no matter how much you dislike your job. First and last time going there!

Leti M. is right… Not all 99 Cent Stores are the same. The one in Downey seems to be on the larger side with different stuff. It is kept very clean. Very organized! I didn’t buy just a whole lot on my first visit because it was mainly a «let’s check this place out» visit, but I walked down every single aisle. I still laugh at the cheaper than cheap wine. If you appreciate history and stories, then you have to visit the 99 Cent Store website and read their«About Us» section. One of the first things the founder sold was 99 cent bottles of wine. It was a hit. Pretty much end of story & it all started in downtown Los Angeles. I love this city more everyday it seems. They are now a chain in 4 states. It’s funny how they are in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas but they SKIPNEWMEXICO(hey, what gives? That’s my birth state, yo’!). The produce is nice and fresh. At least the avocados are good. Because my hubby and I share our world with two amazing girls both under the age of 2, I come up with silly projects from time to time that places like 99 Cent Store can accommodate. The absolute best part of this store, though, is the employees. They are nice. Highly efficient. Always willing to help a mama out by offering me a basket before I walk inside and getting me through the checkout stand blazing fast. Thank you, beautiful souls! The only CONS I thought of: — This store’s parking lot gets packed very quickly. — Not everything is 99 cents, but you’ll get over it. For instance, they use marketing tricks to make you think it’s 79 cents for a 6-pack of beer. Nope. That’s per beer bro, but if it gives you a buzz & you aren’t feelin’ spendy… Review #304

Ok so I know what you are probably thinking«5» stars there all the same… Well this location deserves 5 stars they are really big and have a lot of good items. It’s clean organized. I found the pirate booty popcorn bags 4 for 99 cents also the quaker oats granola bars 10pk for 99 cents. The produce was nice and fresh. I have been to many 99 cent stores but this one is bigger so naturally carries more merchandise, Yay I’m a Fan!!!

Panasonic batteries at a 99? No way… YESWAY! and for a dolla! «A dolla makes me holla honey boo boo child.» Ok, no it does’t but I just felt like saying that. Anyhow… I love 99 cents stores but this one is even more awesomer(I know, there’s no such word, but it’s a word in my vocabulary and in the Urban Dictionary Ha!) This place is kept very organized and clean. By the looks of things, they carry from frozen goods, to junk food, crafting supplies, party supplies, cleaning supplies, the works! They stock their store with tons of decorative things for the holidays such as Valentines, Halloween, Christmas etc. My «to go store» when ever I want to decorate while on a budget.

I was surprised at what an excellent selection they have. You’ll find many items here(at 99 cents) that would be more elsewhere… even other 99 cent stores. This is now my «go to» store, and I even have to drive a little out of my way to reach it. I’m giving 5 stars because I haven’t found any other 99 cent store that beats it.

No soy chorizo even in the suburbs — surprisingly :(Well, it’s very scarce anyway! I have asked the employees when shipments come in and none has given me a good idea when the soy chorizo comes in :(Pretty much the main reason I come to the 99 Cent store is for this item and water. There is more cool stuff at these stores in general than you would expect like the Sesame Thin cookies they sell. They are so addicting! This store is not very messy at all. One thing I like is that they put baskets everywhere! Parking is a breeze as they have a big parking lot.

My go to spot when I’m trying to be cheap, but end up spending more than I wanted… damn, it’s only a dollar!!! A good sized place, always stocked. The only downfall is that the lines are always long. Guess that’s what being thrifty gets me.
