First timer at this location which has been around for decades. Came in for lunch on a mid afternoon Saturday after finishing a yoga class and cleaning up. It was pass the lunch hour so I missed the crowds that can form here. I ordered the lunch special which is offered even on Saturdays. They have a good selection to choose from but I went with the quarter BBQ chicken, beef rib, salad, BBQ baked beans, bowl of beef barley soup and garlic bread. All this for just over a ten bucks. The salad was fresh and crisp and the soup was piping hot delish. I was filling up just after these two items but dove into my main entrée — once it arrived. Beef ribs are common to find, so I made it a point to include that with my chicken which was just average. The beef rib was full of meat and tasted great and complimented the Bbq beans, which I dipped my garlic bread in and savored. For the prices, quality and amount of food received — this place rocks.

The food was average. My steak was over cooked. I asked for med rare. It was for sure more than medium. The flower onion was burnt in the middle, but the outside was amazingly delicious. My Sweetheart enjoyed his mearloaf. It was very moist. The service left me dissatisfied. The staff was congregating in groups throughout the restaurant. I had to get up for our waitress to come back to our table to check on us. Our table was dirty when we were seated and the floors were dirty. The staff should be taking care of the customers and the restaurant instead of hang out.

On Friday Dec. 11, 2015 I drove from Anaheim to Downey because we love the food from Chris and Pitts. We had one just around the corner on Cresent in Anaheim but was closed in last few years. I went to place a order for dinner to go. Everyone was great and pleasant. My problem was with the order I put in for my husbands Prime Rib dinner. He is a very particular eater and I stressed this numerous times to the cashier taking my order. Upon seeing they were getting the order together to bag it up for me to take home, I mentioned once more about my husbands Prime Rib dinner to Please make sure it was MEDIUMRARE. The cashier was wonderful and very understanding and went to the overpass and asked the cook, which the MANAGERLADY of the restaurant replied to the cashier… ’ I seen it myself trust me it is MEDIUMRARE”. Since she is the manager of the restaurant I trusted her word. After driving home my husband went to take his Prime Rib dinner out of the to-go box and the look on his face said it all. The Prime Rib dinner was no where near Medium Rare it was WELLDONE. After giving my disabled son his dinner… I picked up my receipt and called the restaurant and requested to speak to the manager. I demanded she take the charge for the dinner off of my credit card since she was the one who INSISTEDTHEDINNERWASMEDIUM –RARE and to TRUSTHER. Before I hung up she said she would adjust the charges to my card. Well it has been almost 6 weeks and she never bothered. So today I decided to post this after I have contacted the BBB. If you cannot trust the word of a MANAGEROF A RESTAURANT… who in that restaurant can you trust then to get the food you ordered and PAIDFOR?

Very cool place, I forgot I was in LA, thought I was in the woods. The beef ribs were my favorite, super good! The pork ribs was also good. My friend and I shared a platter, very big portions. The mash potatoes was yummy and I liked the chicken and rice soup. I need to go back to try the onion rings and mushrooms. I heard good things about them!

I came here yesterday with my boyfriend for my first time. I didn’t know what to get because there were so many things on the menu it was crazy. It took me forever to decide… everything looked so good!!! I eventually went with the Onion flower which was like 7.99. It was the biggest onion I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t even eat half of it! I also sampled off my boyfriends plate hehe. Everything was so gooood! The salad was so fresh. Baked beans were bold and tasty. The steak was on fleek. Didn’t get to try the bread tho or the rib :‘p Lol

Always been my favorite bbq place next to Robins. I always get the combination plate in Hawaiian sauce. So yum! They used to give free unlimited bread, but not anymore. Waitress said they switched suppliers and now has to charge .60 each — bummer! Their salad below average, no croutons and thousand island was sour. And they don’t have mac n cheese on the menu. Also we noticed that the portion of their steak is smaller compared before. Overall, we’ll keep coming back but will stick to their bbqs

This place is great and the BBQ baby back ribs were amazing! My only complain is the waitress!!! She look like she wasn’t in the mood and she didn’t offer us any specials.

I think it’s a low blow to start off with to have a fantastic smell of bbq meat cooking a block away. I mean it is hard for me not to think about this place everytime I drive by. First of all I have to say is that I think the blue chesse dressing is one the best I have had. Second is that you can’t really go wrong in ordering. Everything is tasty and I feel like I underpaid for some items. Staff is very friendly and I always feel welcome. I only give 4 stars because I think they can do with a little parking situation adjustment.

We came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday so we had a fairly large party. The host was very nice and accommodating and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. Our waitress was on top of things and we received great customer service even though our party was large. The food here is always good, fresh, and tasty. Great casual place with good food at nominal prices.

I grew up about five miles from this restaurant in Downey. Great memories of family meals. They use to have sawdust on the floor, a juke box to play music of the 50s for a nickel. The ribs are great, try the barbeque beef sandwich, and baked beans. It is still as good as I remember when I was five years old. Was there on Dec, 5, 2015 for lunch blast from the past!!!

In town with a couple friends looking for a place to eat and we settled on this place. We were seated fast. Within minutes the waiter asked if we were ready to order… with a bit of an attitude. I ordered the bbq chicken with beans and fries. Got our order within 15 minutes. Started off with the salad. To me it looked like salad you get from a bag. The dressing that came with it looked a little thick and tasted old. My friend ordered onion rings. They tasted like raw onions wrapped in raw batter. Finally to my bbq chicken. It looked like boiled chicken smothered in bbq sauce. It was not even hot, it was luke warm. I was a little Afraid to eat it. So i tried the beans. Uhg. Tasted like straight canned beans with bbq and mustard mixed in them. Not very good. The fries were decent. All in all, i wouldnt eat here again.

Mixed feelings about this. When you walk in football is on the TV and the employees are standing in front of it yelling. No one acknowledges you when you walk in, clearly us customers are not as intriguing as football. Minutes later a very bored, uninterested young guy seats us. The waitress who is quiet but decent did a good job. Onion rings are perfect, best around. The blue cheese is amazing, I bought a bottle to go. The steak is good and the Hawaiian sauce on the chicken is absolutely delicious. However, the chicken under the Hawaiian sauce was super cold. I bet that dish was first one done and had to wait for all the others. Pulled pork was plain. Hamburger was horrible. Overall, if I was in the area I may go back, but I will never make the 1 ½ hour drive to go back.

I Unilocaled this and saw 3.5 rating, but my friend has been trying to get us to go to this place for some«great bbq» in town. We were seated promptly and had attentive service. I was excited for the aromatic and appealing food until I proceeded to eat. Burned baby back ribs that were incredibly dry with hardly any meat completely drenched with sauce. The garlic bread that I swiped off my friend’s plate was also quite burnt and the part I could eat was flavored but dry. The steak fries were satisfactory but even that couldn’t have made up for food. I had requested hot water and with the meal being the way it was, obviously had to drink a second cup. As I poured my second cup, I got not one but several, nice tan fuzzy surprises.

This was my second time visiting a Chris’ and Pitt’s in a long time. I don’t quite remember how it was during my first visit so i’ll just review it based on my most recent visit. I was here for a birthday celebration and was initially excited to eat here because I love BBQ! There is an extensive menu with almost any BBQ item you can think of. I had the Deluxe BBQ for two people which included a huge portion of beef ribs, baby back ribs, and also BBQ chicken. It was very dry and tasted like all they did was burn the meat and slather BBQ sauce all over it. I’m sorry, but that is not how you make BBQ. We also ordered the onion flower which actually tasted really good. If you order one onion flower, it should be enough for about four people. The other thing I really liked was their chicken rice soup. Service was very good as the waiters/servers were very attentive and helpful when deciding on what to eat. They even sang happy birthday for us. But, sometimes that isn’t enough… I would stay away from this place, especially with all the other choices around.

This place is hard to review. I have been coming here for 30 years plus and you get the same thing we have been getting for probably twice that time. And yes its good but the problem is that there are so many more places to get BBQ today that are cheaper and I hate to say it better. I know they are famous for their BBQ sauce BUT they drown their meat in it. There are bottles on the table, why not let the customer add some if they want a lot of BBQ sauce. I always think that a lot of BBQ, A1, etc sauce is meant to hide inferior meat. I partially blame myself since I thought about asking for light to no sauce but didn’t. I ordered the Texas sized BBQ sandwich and it was swimming in sauce. I took the top bread off and ate it as an open faced sandwich and it was a little better. I don’t want to come back more than every once in a while and restaurants don’t last with that kind of clientele. I hope that they can add a few items, wouldn’t a dry-rub rib be a good offering? I would hate to see them go. They did have a decent crowd but only one couple less than 40 in the place.
