The bread was dry and the beef didn’t have a great taste. I was not happy with my burger, plus the bun look over burned.

My friends and I were in town so we decided to try this place out. The restaurant isn’t that big and its definitely a hole in the wall. The seating inside isn’t that big but they do offer an outside seating area. I ordered the buffalo fries and it was okay. The sauce was a little overpowering but it was still good. I loved their ranch sauce though, apparently its made fresh in house. The burgers looked delicious and their serving portions are pretty big. The servers are so nice and they knew it was our first time so they were very helpful with giving us recommendations on what to order.

They have really bad costumer service, I don’t know why the girls are always rude when you’re being polite but I guess what keeps me coming back and what matters is the food. Also they changed the To-go box for the Wing Fries to half the size but kept the same price ???

This place is very pleasant to be at, very comfortable, your friendly neighborhood burger place. The food is simple yet flavorful. A must try here is going to be the Buffalo Chicken Fries, has a little hint of spice but the seasoning and sauce is to die for. The service is very friendly and kind as soon as you walk in. I will definitely return.

Came here with my sister cuz we were hungry. Decided to come here since I knew she hasn’t been here and felt she can eat something different. We ordered the LAX Burger and the Downey Chicken Sandwich. We both got the combo that comes with fries and a drink. This 10 year old knocked out the LAX Burger with is a nice size. It come with Bacon, cheddar cheese, crispy onion rings, roasted tomatoes, lettuce, and thousand island dressing. I had the Chicken Sandwich which comes Breaded marinated chicken breast, bacon, white american cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and got it with no mayo since I’m not a fan of it I would definitely keep coming back and I suggest you give it a try.

Ok I feel bad for saying this but this place used to be so freakin good !! The first Time I had they’re food it was amaze ballz and that was about a year ago. So I wanted a good burger yesterday 2÷27÷16 and I came to la buns . I ordered the lax burgers and buffalo fries both burgers were super dry. The buffalo fries were ok and they were so good before, it even had very lil chicken and cheese :( What I find weird is that u can’t order any small sizes unless u get a combo what’s the difference??? Customer service is still great tho. They just need to fix a couple of things with the food and order sizes. Not everyone can finish a large order I definitely can’t… I hope the owner reads this and takes care of these lil problems. Since I’m not the only Unilocaler who’s saying this. Xoxo

Buffalo chicken fries. Amaze-balls. East Los Burger was okay. It was missing something :(I normally like soft buns(haha) but this was too soft. Also, while you’re biting in the burger, the contents crap out on you :(Makes my eating experience a tad messy. Great service. Very nice staff. Friendly I don’t think I’ll ever really CRAVE this place but definitely a good place to eat. Nice hole in the wall place :)

:. Downey, California .: 2.5 LA Buns, you got me damn it. It’s almost as if someone said, «Instead of just owning a mom-and-pop joint. I have an idea. I’m gonna invest in some mid-grade ingredients. Throw some fancy buns on my burgers. Create an urban atmosphere(Because that’s what the young people like.) Come up with a cool hip name. Move to Downey and make double the money. Genius!» Good try buddy. But you’re not fooling me. This place has«RESTROOMKEYON A STICK» written all over it. Before I move on, I feel the need to make this statement: «I do not discriminate against any such establishments, some of my most beloved places to eat keep their restroom keys on a stick.» –THANKYOU So why the 2.5 stars? Because like the rating suggests, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» To put it simply, the beef was greasy, the chili was greasy, the tomato and lettuce were not the freshest. The brioche bun was good, but butter and grease just don’t go together. That’s just my opinion. The restroom was greasy. The graffiti was bad.(Again, just my opinion.) The fries were crispy and seasoned, which I liked. That’s a positive. But they were sold to me separately, which I hate. That’s a negative. $ 3.50 for a side of fries, I mean, it’s not even a full order. If you’re gonna sell your fries separately, they better be amazing, and they better be a full order(Like a whole basket.) Oh and I just remembered I had bacon in my burger, which I could’ve easily forgotten. The napkins were gone! If you’re gonna serve such greasy food, I suggest investing in some napkin dispensers; But if you wanna stick with the theme of the restaurant, and keep the brown paper towels you have now…(I do like those because they’re more durable) I have a great idea for the owner: Place some of those stainless steel paper towel dispensers on the wall above each table. The idea is genius, it’ll go perfect with your theme, and I won’t even charge you for it. I enjoyed the burger to a limited degree, but I wouldn’t be back for seconds. The service was friendly and helpful. Price: 10 dollars per person. *Depending on what you order

I was finally able to stop by here after passing by it many times(usually going to Portos). It’s pretty well hidden behind the parking structure. It’s not as visible as the Burger Grill on Firestone. There is plenty of parking with 2 parking structures surrounding it. The seating itself is quaint. You can probably seat no more than 20 people(inside and out). I suggest you take your food to go when packed. The place is nicely decorated with LA art(plus the famous Downey mural) and a couple Dodger bobbleheads. There is also a connecting door that leads into a night club. You’ll hear the music if you eat there at night. The menu is simple, which I like. It allows the establishment to focus more on quality. I have tried their 2 most popular burgers… The LAX and the East LA. The buns on both burgers as you could imagine are excellent. The meat is well cooked. The east LA burger includes a sauce you normally find in a taco/burrito. It has a little kick, but I can see how others may be overwhelmed by it(salsas are one of my specialties). My preference is definitely the LAX. It includes some fried onions with the quality ingredients they use. The fries are delicious(seasoned with a little black pepper I believe). I went ahead and tried the chili cheese fries. The fries itself are good, but it has a little too much chili. I was a little dissapointed the cheese being served unmelted. It’s definitely not bad, but I think your best bet is to just have regular fries with their delicious burgers. The service was good and the food came out in descent time. It’s definitely a nice hidden gem in southeast LA.

First time here: For lunch: Skid burger on brioche & sweet potato fries Got burger but no brioche bun. Asked n got brioche bun. Awesome. Excellent service. Burger lacked flavor. Could’ve made better from a backyard bbq. Chili tasted like it was from a can. Not a come back spot.

— Overall 3.5 Stars I’ve Had It Bookmarked For About 3 Weeks & Was Eager To Go! The Inside Is Rather Small; It’s About 102 Person Tables Scattered Throughout. Outside There Are Rocky(As In Have Evenly Distributed Weight On All 4 Ends Cause It Could Tip In Any Direction Lmao) Tables However The Day I Visited It Was Sunny & I Wouldn’t Been Comfortable Outside On Either Side Of The Table) Love How Everything Is So Open & You’re Able To See Them Prepare & Cook Your Food On The Grill. The Décor Is Nice With Cool Pictures Of & About Los Angeles & The Surrounding Cities. The Food Is Pretty Good. I Had The East Los Burger & A Order Of Fries(I Received A Healthy Portion). It Was Good! I Loved The Roasted Tomatoes & Green Chile Together. I Ate My Sandwich With Ranch &A1 W/Tabasco(They Have Just About Every Major Hot Sauce Lined Up On The Other Side Of The Kitchen Prep Area) Someone Ordered The Buffalo Chicken Fries While I Was There They Looked Super Good. My Friend Had The LAX Burger. She Says She Enjoyed It & It Really Satisfied Her(She’s 6& A Half Months Pregnant So I’m Sure It’s Hardy. I’m Lookin Forward To Coming Back To Try The Buffalo Fries, Chicken Sandwiches, & Much More!

I’ve had this place bookmarked forever and finally got the chance to stop by. I was suprised at how close it was to Portos. It’s right across the street from the parking structure. It’s a pretty small shop, but cozy. I ordered the east coast burger and made it a combo with spicy buffalo fries. The fries were good with a spicy kick. The burger was okay. It had a spicy green relish sauce with caramelized onions. The onions could be better and so could the meat. I thought it was pretty dry. Honestly, there are better burger spots.

Cool atmosphere chill rap music yummy food! My husband and I went for late dinner last weekend, I really like their interior. Looks like LA street with street art and rap music blasting. The burgers are on point juicy and tender. We ordered one LAX burger and skid burger. i really liked chilli burger but honestly LAX burger tasted something was missing on the sauce. Buns were too good, buttery kind of tasted like croissant. Seasoned fries were seasoned very well like perfection and buffalo chicken fries was pretty good too! Their customer service was amazing. Every workers were nice and friendly! I really want to go back soon and try something new of the menu!

Having a craving for a burger that is better then your run of the mill fast food burger, I decided to check off one of my bookmarks and come to LA Buns. I came here without any preconceptions of the food and atmosphere so I will be telling it like it is. First off they need to turn down the music. This place is really small and they’re blasting rap music at too high of a volume. Just turn it down a notch and it would be perfect. I get the vibe their going for, hip hop burger joint, and that’s great but make the atmosphere more appealing to everyone. Now on to the burger. I got the classic burger which is pretty standard burger: tomato, onion, lettuce, pickle, ketchup and mustard. First off, this thing was drowning in mustard. I love mustard but even I thought this was too much. As for the beef quality it was fine. A tasty patty but it was cooked medium well. I prefer my burger medium rare. No, I didn’t specify how I wanted it cooked and they didn’t ask. That pretty much sums it up for me. Not bad, Besides the loud music and mustard overload I kind of like this place. Not bad for Downey.

Customer service and food was FREAKING amazing here! Mike was a super cool guy! Tending to everyone and making sure drinks were filled and everyone was doing well. The LAX burger was so juicy and tasty. I don’t particularly care for tomatoes in my burger but they roast theirs so they added a delicious touch. The fries… O M G… you can eat those for days! Seasoned to perfection. We’ll be back here to try their buffalo chicken fries next.
