Luis’ Butcher Shop

I used to go to Whittier Farms in Whittier but they gone downhill. Whittier farms used had some of the best Carne asada around, but after trying this place I’m not going back. Love the very fresh meat. Great flavor on the prepared chicken and carne asada. Bought the stuffed jalapeños tasted fantastic. Also had their freshly prepared guacamole and salsa. I am a if fan of everything I have tried this far.

Moses is a great manager and offers exceptional service. As does Richie. They have helped me manage my dogs diabetes by sharing some scraps with me, and always giving me great customer service. The meat and cheese are super reasonably priced, and it’s so worth it to come in here and buy your necessary items. Thank you again! :-)

Like everyone else, their carne asada was amazing. Same with their pollo asada!!! They have a great selection of meats I will drive quite far for! Plus the prices are competitive so I know I’m getting a good deal! Will definitely come back here again.

This is a hiding gem for Colombian products! Been living in Downey for 12 years and now I come to discover this market. Hooking up my family with buñuelos and natilla for the holidays!

So I just got my first home and I had to get me a nice grill because I love to be in my backyard with family and friends. I was looking for a good spot that knows their meats and can season some carne asada and chicken. I’ve had other local places which will remain nameless and they were just ok. I saw the pics and reviews on this butcher shop and decided to give them a shot. Well let me tell you that the reviews are 100% true! I ordered food from Luis’ and it has that «Wow» factor. My friends came over for a BBQ and I got their seasoned carne asada plus the chicken and it was a hit! They all asked me where I got the meats from and I had to give this place props. Needless to say now my friends started going there. As a bonus, one of my friends is a Marine and as he spoke to the owner, found out that he’s a fellow Marine as well. Now I have to support this place even more! I highly recommend you give them a try.

If you are going to have a BBQ and want to make an impression, this place is a must. Best meat in town! Fresh, tender and seasoned just right. Beef tender ribs are the business! I will continue to go out of my way and stop here for all the meats!

Yes, they’re changing and aren’t the same carniceria they were a few years ago.
BUT DAMN! This is the BEST carne and pollo asado in Los Angeles. Truly a hidden gem.
I live in West LA but if I need my asada fix I don’t hesitate to drive the 30 minutes. Hands down the best, can’t compare, very authentic, highly recommended.

Bought the argetinian sausage, and some inca cola. the sausage is amazing and not expensive. I will come back for sure

One Word WOW, there Carne Asada & Chicken is that Good. I bought 5 pounds of each, it was so juicy and No Fat on the meat. People always ask me where I buy the meat, Downey’s hidden Gem

Will never go to any other butcher shop (unless they change their recipes of course). They catered for me recently the food was so great and the hit of my party! 5 stars!

It’s unfortunate, but my first review on Unilocal won’t particularly shed a good light on this so-​called «butcher shop». I would give a ⁰⁄₅ stars if it were possible.
Anyway, I visited them last night (2÷1÷15) after calling ahead of time and speaking with a female staff whom confirmed that although they were about to close in 45 mins., they would still be able to accomodate me and the butchers would be available to make the specific cuts of steak that I needed. Now keep in mind the drive was a little over 20 mins., which is why I called ahead of time to avoid wasting gas.
I arrived a little over 20 mins and made my way inside to be greeted by a young man sweeping the floor. I asked him if any of the butchers were available and he called one out to the counter with a smile and with no hesitation. But after that, everything went downhill fast.
When the «butcher» arrived I asked him if he would be able to prepare/​cut 2″ thick rib-​eye steaks for me. What followed was comical. The exact line he blurted out was,“I don’t know about steaks”. I was dumbfounded. I didn’t know whether I was supposed to laugh or cry since the top row was filled with different cuts of steak. The poor guy could barely speak a word of english and used Mr. Broom as his translator. After a few minutes of confusing banter, Mr. Broom called out the 2^nd butcher working in the back. He also couldn’t speak english so once again I needed a translator. Womp womp. Butcher #2 proceeds to tell me that all the beef was frozen and they would not be able to cut anything for me tonight. Now I am a Sad Panda with nothing to cook for my friends. Guess we have to settle for Del Taco *shudder*
So thanks, Luis’ «Butcher» Shop, for the colossal waste of my time and gas. I hope you guys don’t misinform any future guests and learn to communicate with each other. And thanks for compelling me to write my first review.

They pretty great meat and their craft beer selection is all right when you’re in a hurry. Definitely a go to place for food for grills and such.

Omg. Look at the marbling on those rib eyes!!! Discovered this place driving by and I’m glad we stopped in to check it out. The owner knew his stuff and they’ll even do cuts for pichana. They also have grass fed stuff in stock too.

This Place has become like the little secret that soon will explode, and now with the culinary artist in there its better then ever! Nicola game a sample of there Coconut lime chicken and it was FANTASTIC!!! I will be going back to cook food and to buy food.

Another like for me, this is another spot where my brother and I like to come and buy meat for those weekend BBQ with the family.
The seasoned meat has good flavor than most places that have already prepared the meat for you. I haven’t gotten anything other than beef here. Carne ranchera is tender and tasty.
