Mike Williams is a phenomenal swing instructor. I have been working with Mike for over 6 months on a complete swing overhaul. Quick background, I have been golfing for over 20 years and prior to working with Mike I felt I was playing good golf, but had lost quite a bit of yardage and could not figure out what had changed. I had worked with a few different instructors and did not care for their teaching styles or philosophies while trying to find my way. After my initial meeting with Mike I felt this is someone who was going to take me in the right direction. Since I knew this was going to be a complete overhaul from rotation to swing plane to mentality, it was going to have to be a total commitment. The first couple of months was complete frustration as we worked to remove bad muscle memory. First we started with chipping and wedges to create a proper grip, take away and balance. As we graduated to a full swing we moved into greater detail about weight transition, shoulder turn(down not around), and hip movement(out not away). During these first few months, my game was bad and I was beyond frustrated almost to the point of giving up. But I knew this would happen from the outset and had to stay focused. This to me was part of the mental aspect and sticking to a firm commitment I had to my game improvement and to Mike’s philosophy. As my game began to finally improve I was starting to play consistently good golf(back into the low 80’s again). Mike saw that I became stagnant in some of my swing habits and reminded me that because I was playing good golf I was accepting these habits. He «forced» me to step up my game and not just accept my bad muscle memory, but work on correcting it and that I could do better. Within a couple of months I was then shooting constantly in the 70’s. My experience with Mike is that if are willing to make the commitment to your game through hard work and practice he will be there to push you and not let you settle for anything less. He is extremely knowledgeable in the details and how to work with you on correcting them and he knows that there is not a one swing fits all. But, he also knows that there is a wrong way to swing a club and a right way. At some point everyone needs instruction on their swing(Tiger and Phil pay big money for that) and you should find the right person that you feel comfortable with. Life it too short to settle for anything less and there is no better feeling than kicking your buddies butts up and down the course.

Excellent customer and extreme patience. Just started playing golf and needed some instructions. Several people at Los Amigos told me to speak with Mike and Im glad they did. Great personality and definitely worth ever penny.

Mike is a good basics instructor. He knows what makes a good swing for me and has me playing from the short grass. I am impressed that Mike is willing to step up and help out Kids there at Los Amigos GC. Thanks Mike.

Mike Williams’ swing instruction has improved my game beyond words. In just a few short months I went from shooting over 100 to consistently playing in the high 80s/low 90s. I’ve taken lessons since I was 14 years old and haven’t seen nearly as much improvement in 15 years as I have seen in the last few months with Mike. I guarantee Mike will make you better after even only 1 lesson, whether you are an experienced golfer or just starting out.

Mike can be found at the range every day! He has a devoted group of regulars. Ignore the construction at the course, they’re going through a remodel due to new ownership.

So glad I found this review on Unilocal.I’m a little hesitant to write a review because I would hate for Mike to become so busy he doesn’t have time anymore, but he deserves it! I bought my husband golf lessons for Valentines day and I think it’s been the best present I ever gave him! He’s is really enjoying Mike’s instruction. He says Mike is so patient and knowledgeable he can’t thank me enough for his present(and my husband’s not an easy man to please). And he can’t get over the great price he got on his lessons! From what I’ve heard DL was spot on in his review. If you want quality lessons from a solid, patient instructor, Mike is your man!

Mike Williams is a golf instructor who teaches out of the rancho los amigos golf course, but is not technically affiliated with the course. The guy is kind of a local legend among the club’s patrons. Many of his students are tearing it up in the local golf circuits. So far, I’ve had 5 lessons with him and he has been phenomenal. Extremely patient and always available to teach. His goal is to get you out on the course and playing as soon as possible. He is usually out at the golf course, so he’ll come by and work with you on your swing and give you tips, even if it’s not a lesson day. He’ll hook you up with amazing prices on high end gear to get you playing. Really, just a top notch golf instructor. I don’t remember the price for an individual lesson, but he offers 8 one and a half hour sessions for $ 300. Really, a great deal.
