Sizzler

Yes, I’m writing a review for Sizzler. It’s been so many years since I’ve been to one and this one blew my mind. Service was excellent, everything was clean, food was replenished quickly and everything was cooked as we ordered it. I was very pleased. If you are a salad junkie like me, this place is excellent!

My husband and I come to this location and we share a meal, which ends up being plenty for both of us. The gentleman that helps us out every time we come is Marcos and he is very friendly, very nice and very very helpful. This is a great Sizzlers location

We came with a big group to Sizzler’s. This was my first time eating at a Sizzler’s. I enjoyed the service and they were very kind and courteous to us. The prices are expensive for the food. I ordered the tri tip steak with endless salad bar. That was about $ 15. There’s a big selection within soups and salads but there isn’t much variety with other foods. The dessert area had soft serve, apple crumble, and some other things. The food was average and is expected from buffet style restaurants. They didn’t refill the food items that often. Some seemed like they were there for a long time and a skin formed on top.
So to sum up, the food was average, excellent customer service, and a lot of parking.

This restaurant has a lot going for it.
1) friendly and helpful management and staff
2) salad bar very fresh and well kept
3) plenty of parking
4) rest rooms fresh and clean
5) a few extra items in the buffet such as bbq’d pork ribs, interesting salads a la soup plantation, boiled eggs cut larger (the way I like them)
6) drinks refilled often
7) exta desserts such as apple cobbler and bread pudding
the franchise owner Marcos is also the onsite manager. Friendly and very helpful. he wants his customers to have a great experience. I purchased the senior buffet $ 11 including drink and I asked how much it would be to buy a baked potato. He said just ask the server and there would be no extra charge. Our server was fun and attentive. we will definitely go there again.

Compared to all other Sizzler locations I’ve tried, this by far has been the best! My favorite was the one on Imperial Hwy and Pioneer that has since been torn down for the freeway expansion. Others are generally lacking on the fried food section and customer service. This one trumps all others. Great selections and constant good service. The manager is on the floor assisting in ANY way possible. I like that a lot. Any time I needed a refill or plate the waitress was right there ready to help. We will definitely be back soon! Finally found a new home Sizzler (which is important to my dad so super score).

I know there are so many new places and different kinds of food. But sometimes you just have to go back to classics like sizzler. they have great customer service and traditional foods like steak, lobster and endless shrimp. Call me old fashion but I like knowing I’m going to get a good meal. The salad bar is always fresh and the place is always clean.

Excellent food and service. This place used to be hit and miss 30 years ago, but with the new ownership, the Sizzler in Downey is a consistently great place to eat with friendly service and prices are very reasonable and the place is very clean. I also enjoy the new remodeling and look inside. I highly recommend it and I appreciate the owner and management keeping an old iconic Downey restaurant viable and keeping it around. It brings back great memories.

Today is National cheese bread day… of course I went to sizzle only because they have the best cheese bread around… they didn’t disappoint…

My family and I tried Sizzler for the first time ever tonight in the D-​o-​dub (Downey).
PROS
— Easy, free parking in the lot out front
— ALL of the employees are very friendly, efficient & attentive (see more below)
— Fairly clean, casual, FAMILY dining
— Endless salad bar (clean & continuously restocked)
— Two TVs with sports on in the back
— Choose your own seats! Tables & booths are available.
— «Honored guest» menu is available — that’s for ages 60+
— Our order was brought out in less than 15 minutes
CONS
— We needed 2 high chairs. Both were a bit sticky/​dirty.
— The food was just okay to me…
We arrived at around 7 p.m. Not too busy. Maybe filled at 50% capacity.
OUR MEALS
Complimentary cheese toast is served at each table. It was okay.
For our 2-​year-​old, I ordered the endless salad bar from the kid’s menu ($ 5.99). This is a steal! Not only does this include the usual vegetables, dressings, and toppings for a healthy salad, but also some fruit, soups, hot appetizers (her favorite was the mac n cheese), and desserts. She enjoyed pretty much everything I gave to her.
The husband ordered a steak with fries. While he really liked the piping hot fries, he only complained that his steak was a bit fatty. He had a Heineken (22 oz. for $ 7.25) too, so he was fine.
I ordered the grilled shrimp skewers (2, but you can order up to 3). The shrimp itself was a little bland and somewhat overcooked — slightly tough to eat. Hot butter was served alongside them in a plastic cup. The shrimp was also served over a delicious rice pilaf. I was hoping a few more scoops of it was on my plate because it was really good and our 1-​year-​old really liked it too. Finally, this plate came with my choice of a side. I chose the baked potato with everything I could add to it — butter, sour cream, onions… I added an endless salad bar to my meal for our 1-​year-​old for $ 4.99.
Our girls both had a 14 oz. milk ($ 2.29 each). You can ask for low-​fat or whole.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
Based on my experience tonight, (9÷5÷15) all of Downey’s restaurants could take a cue from these guys & gals. I’m a huge fan of customer service & they exceeded my expectations.
MY VERDICT
It’s a fairly affordable place, especially families. Our grand total was $ 54.15. I would totally come back for the endless salad bar & another cherry limeade ($ 2.89)! It would be a potentially perfect lunch and super quick because you pay before you find a table and your drinks are brought to you.

Felt welcome the moment we walked in the door :) Very appreciative of how they treated us. The food was «ok» but would return just because of the customer service. It has like a «small town family vibe.» The manager upgraded our meal and let us pay the difference for three Malibu chicken meals as well. Just over all great experience! Ty Sizzler staff!

Came here after starving myself all day. Well worth it! I haven’t been to a Sizzler since I was a kid. In fact, you hardly see them around now. It honestly felt like we walked into a buffet at Old Vegas. But, it was cool! The guy with the dreadlocks greeted us and made us feel welcome. Our waiter was Marcos. Dude was
! That guy was on top of our order and assisted above our expectations. My fiancée even stated that she felt like she was welcomed to someone’s home. I got the steak and unlimited shrimp. They packed that plate with bunch of shrimp. We definitely will be coming back here. I hope to bring my future kids here too.

Good food a lil pricey but the food is worth it fills you up and we had a great waiter

Yep they did it for me! Marcos, manager is by far the best! He came to our table & did tricks for the kiddos. He went above and beyond to help my mother & I during dinner! He continued to check on our table throughout our time there. Ty. Restaurant was clean & I noticed worker changing our containers of food @ the salad bar. Salad bar was fresh! Will be back!

I love this place! You always feel welcome from the minute you walk in the door. The staff is very helpful and attentive. My favorite is the fried shrimp and I always add the salad bar the carnitas are so yummy. Great value, Great food. I will definitely be back.

16, almost 17 bucks for steak and chicken and a Pepsi. Ordered medium rare. Came out well done, tough, and chewy, Not a gram of seasoning, no pepper or salt nothing at all, I guess that’s to expensive. it also was about the size of a large chicken strip. If your gunna completely cheep out, cheep out on the cooking time so people don’t get beef jerky. I completely hate the smell and taste of fried fish, So natural my chicken was breaded and fried in the same oil the use to fry their fish in. It reeked of fish and tasted like it also. And that’s probably because the fryers have not been cleaned or oil changed in a long time. I don’t c I’m coming back here… but the staff was very friendly, and the place was welcoming and clean. Work on the food sizzler.

Best manager ever. Literally hugs guests he remembers. Food was pretty decent I was surprised. Food 4 stars service 5!!! Will def come back

Best place to go for a little bit of everything. Been coming here for years with both family and friends and always an enjoyable experience. Can’t beat the great service and friendly staff. Owner always makes sure we are well taken care of and has seen our family grow over the years. Has a great hometown feel just like Downey is.

I’ve lived around the corner from here for 4 years and it was my first time coming in today. Excellent customer service from the beginning to the end. My family and I enjoyed the salad bar $ 8.99 for adults and $ 5.99 for kids 10yrs and under. Very good food. I will be back soon. ;)

My mom and I stopped here on the way to Disneyland one day because we were hungry and craving salad.
This is an old-​school Sizzler! I used to work for Sizzler back in 2003 and not even the restaurant I worked at was as old-​school as this one. The place is really ancient.
My mom had a senior meal and we thought it came with the salad bar, but you have to choose either a one-​trip to the salad bar or to the soup bar. What!
The service was great though, I have to give it that!
