This has been a usual spot for us that we have always enjoyed. This morning for breakfast we were highly dissapointed. One of our orders was Huevos Rancheros and we asked for red sauce. It came out with green sauce. We didn’t mind informing them just to get a new plate with red sauce but we were just going to let it go and eat it with the green sauce but it was to sour. Before getting up to inform them, we than found a hair cooked into the tortilla when we tried to eat the plate. They did offer a refund which is fine but that situation took away from us having an enjoyable experience here in the future. Great example to start wearing hair nets while cooking.

3 stars because my carne asada plate was so delicious but, it gave me food poisoning :(Super disappointed. The service was great & I got my food Togo but, something wasn’t right in my meal.

Had to wait a few minutes to even be acknowledged. Other patrons ordered their food after us and were served as we had to wait. I forgot to mention this place wasn’t even busy to begin with. After receiving our food the staff was unapologetic about making us wait at least 25 minutes. Even worse, all of our food was cold to the touch. I would give this place a zero if I could, but I won’t be returning ever even if they gave me a gift certificate. Bad customer service, bad food, and bad everything.

Long wait, but the place was not busy. The food was not even hot. The waitress didn’t apologize. I asked for a refill on a drink for having almost finished it after waiting so long and she said there was a fee. I work in customer service and know what it takes to retain customers. Unfortunately, my first impression of this location was a negative one. I will not be returning.

Came to Don Chente to enjoy their delicious Posole, but the ran out of limes. Which is the essential ingredient to accompany the Posole, now the waitress said they ran out, but if they did run out management should run and get limes. I was not the only one upset that there wasn’t any limes and I know this is might be silly but I literally couldn’t even eat my soup.

Terrible service. I ordered food to go over the phone and the cashier didn’t understand what a chorizo burritos was. When I got there she said she forgot to put in the order. Never again will I order from a restaurant so incompetent. Eek! Methinks not!

I went there this morning and my friend and I had Menudo, which was delicious. I am just surprised that we were charge extra for hominy. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Hominy is part of the menudo. And the cashier was a little slow in taking our order. But other then that I would go back.

The service had much to be desired. We ordered two wet burritos, only got one wet the other regular. I took it back for them to redo. Then we open up the wet burrito we did get and it was wrong. The redo burritos were wrong as well, so waited for them to make 3 different burritos. We ordered 3 smoothies and got two. They didn’t provide me with utensils once the order was corrected. I didn’t obtain a manager to at the least acknowledge the mistakes. I see now why they charge first for the food, that way when they butcher your order, they already have your money.

Where do I start with this one. This place is excellent I love the food here I’ve been there more than 10 times and not once have I been disappointed. The micheladas are really good they are a must if you come. The salsa bar is great and convenient. Staff is friendly and fast with serving your food. I visited the location they have in Montebello and for some reason the food wasn’t as good as it was here. I definitely recommend this place and will continue to visit.

Came here for a third time because I am in the area. My receipt has a time of 10:12 am. It is 10:37 am as I write this and I still haven’t gotten my chilaquiles. The place only has about 10 ppl currently inside. The food is great, as I’ve ordered this before, but the wait is ridiculous for a simple breakfast. Other than the wait, I’d recommend this place for good Mexican food.

My friend and I were in the area for work and came here for lunch. The place was busy, so we figured it was good. However, we were disappointed. We ordered some flautas and caldo de pollo. The flautas were too salty and the caldo was too watery, it needed more vegetables.

I must day that I was very surprised with this place when I walked in. I drive by it everyday but never really gave it a shot until today. Looks like it got remodeled recently because the place looks very nice inside. The food is good and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this place.

Stopped in here for a late lunch. I was looking for some good tacos, or just good food in general. Walking into this place I knew the food was going to be authentic. Not any of that canned beans. I ordered 2 carne Assad tacos and beans and rice. These tacos are awesome. Just what you would want from a taco. Enough meat to fill the tortilla and then some. Will definitely be back for these tacos.

Me and my family come to this restaurant at least once a week. The food is very authentic. They also cater and the food quality is the same as if you were eating at the restaurant. The tacos Al Pasor are the most authentic we have found in the Southgate and Downey area. They are comparable to Tacos in Mexico City

The machaca burrito was DELICIOUS! AMBIENCE Looks small from the outside. Blacked out windows. However, once you step inside, they have 2 storefronts so it’s a good sized restaurant with plenty of seating. They have small upright wooden chairs with wicker construction for the seating. I’m a small person, but I felt like it was small. There is a divot in the middle of the chair that also made it a little uncomfortable. If it was a long meal, I might’ve changed tables. FOOD Didn’t check Unilocal before I went in. I had walked by this restaurant before and saw all of the yummy pictures of the food offered on the windows outside. As I reached to open the front door, my husband tentatively asks me, «uh, you wanna check Unilocal first before we eat here??». Breakfast burritos are hard to mess up. We were actually headed to Porto’s for a «machaca wrap», but I thought to myself… do I want a machaca imposter, or a proper burrito with spice and flavor? Porto’s has awesome pastries & coffee and decent sandwiches but it’s a Cuban place that does not have Mexican flavor or fiery hot salsa!!! Just saying. This review is only for the machaca burritos that we got. Didn’t order anything else so can’t say what their other food is like. The machaca burrito comes with pieces of stewed brisket cooked in egg & onions with rice and beans. At another restaurant, that was extra. I ALWAYS ask for extra diced jalepeños. All wrapped in a yummy flour tortilla with toasty brown etchings, marking it’s time spent over the heat. The burrito was a nice size wrapped in foil to keep it hot and served on a plate. My eyes weren’t disappointed. I was salivating as I was cutting through the fragrant toasted flour shell & through the scrumptious fragrant layers of goodness inside of it. It was delicious and the salsas I had it with were just a bonus!!! My only little complaint was that the meat could’ve been a bit more tender. However, it didn’t affect the overall amazing flavor of the burrito. SERVICE You walk up to the counter to the order. The ladies at the counter are very nice. They gave us a number and we sat down at a table. Shortly after, one of the ladies brought waters to our table. OVERALL Yummy machaca burritos. Will definitely come back when in this area.

Food was expensive and very bland. The environment inside is ok nothing special. I only are there once and I don’t think I’ll be returning. They have a nice spot in the back outside where they should add a couple of tables so people could eat back there. It would be a nice feature. But I’d only eat there again if there is nothing else in the area that is open or in dragged there with someone with no taste.

The food is okay… I think you can find better authentic Mexican restaurants in Downey. Also, the food is overpriced!!!

Awesome food. Delicious and Authentic Mexican food. Friendly staff. I ordered the enchiladas platter. It came with 3 enchiladas, I decided to get 2 cheese and 1 chicken enchilada. It came with refried beans, rice and side salads and generous portions of avocado. I loved the free chips and salsa. I also ordered a large Horchata. Prices were typical. But huge portions. So worth it!
