Horrible place, full of cholos, music too loud for any form of conversation, not impressed by the bartenders, there are better dives in Downey. GODUBS!

so i come here quite often for several years, its a very chill atmosphere where everyone knows everyone and the drinks are cheap, however things are starting to change and i get it i just dont agree with it such as the djs… im sorry know this place as a karaōke bar not a club and the dj simply just doesnt belong there… for one in my opinion the music choices are all out of wack, the dance floor is smaller than my bathroom and well most the girls there are regulars and or with there man… but its ok i guess its just not for everyone, ill just keep my distance on those days… Now the the thing i hate is when people ASK you for a tip… now its not the bartenders half the time they give you your change and walk away and you have to wave them back to get the tip… but my problem is with only one person MARY she is the kj there and i use to enjoy her company and would tip every so often to sing however shes been getting greedy and telling first time goers that it is mandatory to put in atleast a buck to sing… now me i tip when i can but sometime i wont have ones on me and she will ASK and sometimes TELL me to tip her or she wont call me up… but i played her little game for awhile and stopped tipping unless she asked me to. My anger towards her grew when I threw a party there and I wanted Kat to be the kj… i mentioned it everyone how i would prefer her presence over anyone else to be the kj and everyone was cool about it except for Marry she didnt want to trade with Kat and told her owner that Kat is trying to turn people against her which is lie… i even noticed a decrees of regulars showing up when Mary is the kj cause people are tired of her rude attitude like she owns the place, like for instance if someone new came and didnt know how to sign up for the karaōke she would tell them go figure it out, where other kj’s would explain the process or if they are a bit busy they will tell regulars like me to help them find the song or whatever, sorry i got a bit side tracked, but going back to the party i was throwing there my buddy got there around 8 and it was his first time being there and Mary happens to be sitting next to him along with several other friends i invited… she tells one of them oh god theres too many people here i was hoping for a slow night… like why would you say something like that especially to someone here for the first time, i didnt want her there that day in the first place then to complain about how many people are there, anyway so going along the night i started getting tipsy and asked Marry if she wanted a slice of the cake from Portos and she said yes so i gave her a pretty big corner piece and when i told her around 12:30 i am pretty tipsy can you call me up for one last song that my group wants me to sing… she tells me i have to tip so i said forget it and walked away, so one of my friend goes to drop a buck and she said no 5 bucks. so at this point i didnt really care for her but i acted cool and tried to be nice when i saw her, the last draw was the last time i saw her, i didnt have any ones so i dropped a 10 around 11 and come 12:15 when its my turn she skipped me then again at 1 so at that point i went up to her and told her what gives and she tells me shes not calling me up the rest of the night… so f her i will never show up when that old hag is there and if i happen to go when she is there i dare her to ask me to tip her with that said the pow wow is still a great atmophere and could be way better without Marry, if you want to have a great time show up when Kat is there she will treat you not as a customer but as a friend

Fun karaōke bar with great prices and fun bartenders. Heather and Courtney are great and their personalities always reflect great times. Bar has a pool table to keep good vibes going, patrons were having fun singing all kinds of different fun songs, but they could use some help with better tv’s and better reception. If not for Heather and Courtney the bar may be a 3 and if not for the tv’s and receptions they may be higher. Fun little local bar though and kudos to Courtney and Heather for keeping a fun atmosphere

Great friendly environment! Having a great time right and the bartenders Serena & Courtney are super fun! Definitely coming back again! Drinks are cheap and there’s karaōke so you can get drunk then have some fun with your friends singing or trying to sing haha! They have a pool table too which is only $ 0.75 so not bad either.

Seriously, this bar meets all the criteria for a Dive Bar… dark and dank, horrible interior decorations, loud jukebox and an even louder group of «customers»…I loved it! My husband and I are big fans of dive bars, especially those not pretending but actually living up to the true dive bar commitments. The bartender, Patty, was cute and nice but also had a little edge to her. The clientele was mixed and mainly«creepy old men» and the TV are fuzzy and small, what I would consider the trifecta of dive bar necessities. If you are a true lover of dive bars and appreciate why they are a dive bar, this one is a good choice. :)(My one missing star was for the prices… a little too mainstream for the ambiance).

Had always seen this place and wanted to check it out. Had high hopes of friendly folks along with good drinks as this was on St. Patricks day! To my dismay the second I walked in I was getting vibed by the WOMEN. Just bad energy. Even the bartender! Ugh, single women you won’t be welcomed here so don’t even try unless you have a LOT of spare time to play the game with these bitches(which you shouldn’t have to do at a dive bar). Sigh.

Horrible service extremely rude bartender not very big area to sit extremely expensive drinks almost as bad as when you’re in Hollywood. Lady bartender took forever to give us our drinks with maybe only 5 other people in the whole place who weren’t even ordering just watching TV. Never going back.

I LOVED pow wow and have been coming for 2 years and honestly the first year i felt like id go almost everyday. My friends and i literally take our lazy asses to the bank just to go to this CASHONLY joint. I loved sophia when she worked there and she was the reason id keep going. I love serina, chelly, kat(sorry if i spelled your name wrong, girls!) I love the regulars like mighty, rob, George(harmonica whoop whoop!) Jonathan who was security on the weekends. Then switched to every other saturday. Not sure if hes still doing that. Even donnie the air guitar player! I love love loved pow wow. But last night was the worst! Night. I hated the bar tender and so did a lot of people i talked to as we got kicked out so rudely. Tuesday November 10 This chick needs to learn what being a bar tender is. ya cool fun have your friends come and visit. But don’t abandon all your other customers to talk to them at their table when people are lining up at the bar to get drinks from someone who is supposed to be standing there. Yes you can walk and make sure people are good with drinks which you did once out of the whole night. Not to compare but i swear serina and chelly are golden especially compared to the girl that was there last night. Then she started getting loud and crazy later and i just ignored. Think some guy was hitting on her and her gf was getting involved. You are a bar tender. If you can’t handle getting hit on, why are you there. And if your gf can’t handle it, why is she there. Why create a bigger drama at your work place that could get you fired. Had your gf fought with the guy, your job would be the one in jepordy. The way she exits everyone out of the bar was rude. She has a 2 mins mark but she goes around the tables and yells 2 mins 2 mins and starts hitting the tables. Girl, don’t shout and hit my table. What it your problem. Oh so i guess that makes 2 times she made rounds at the tables. One for drinks and one to yell and hit tables. Anyways then 2 am hits and she yells at the top of her lungs to get out. People trying to go to the restroom and shes kicking the fuckin door on people. And wheb they open the door, she still kicks it open. Rude. She really walked around there like she owned the place. None of the other bar tenders kick people out like that. Yes they get loud and kick people out, but there are not rude. They don’t yell at you. They definitely let you pee in peace. If i go to pow wow again and she’s the bar tender, I’ll leave. There’s other bars that have karaōke all night and have great people as well. They even have more variety of songs. And accept card. I’d just come to pow wow because it was the first karaōke bar i sang at after saying I’d never be able to do karaōke and i love the people there. and ya it’s maybe one mile closer to me than other places. Pow wow is a place where you can sing without being judged. But that bar tender literally RUINED pow wow for me. Now i hardly see the regulars there, so i guess that’s a sign that i should stop coming all together. I understand not everyday will be a good day. This is not the first annoying or rude thing that has happened at pow wow. In fact of the bad times I’ve had at pow wow, if this bar tender were to be removed, I’d give pow wow 5 stars based on just that. Those other times at pow wow fail in comparison to this one bar tender. And if you’re reading this. Or your friends are or who ever. Don’t get pissed at me for what i am saying. Prove me wrong and be a great bar tender next time.

I was ignored when I tried calling out for a drink, their billiards room looks like it was built in a shack, and the vibe was just awkward. Took my business to The Glen. Way better bar! Maybe it was a bad night but The Glen is the go-to spot now!

Great bartenders, reasonably priced drinks, easy location to get to. I’ll always stop in for a drink if I’m in the area. If you’re looking for a solid dive look no further.

Great bartenders! Great prices! If you want a local dive bar this is it! There is an older crowd in the mornings and a younger crowd at night. There is always something going on at the Powow!

Before I continue my review I have to add that I was looking for a real dive bar near my place and found one, and this is it! I’ve been on the search for 5 years for a bar with a homie feel and tons of people just chilling back, a place for some affordable drinks. My search is over! I love karaōke and they offer that. It’s mostly 90s music and popular hits from previous decades, but there is karaōke! I love that it’s a real dive bar, I’ve been to so many places that claim they are divey, but are filled with hipsters listening to frat music. What makes this place authentically divey: –The nice staff –The people that visit are a mix of regulars & people genuinely there to hang out at a bar to have a good time –It’s small, but I’ve honestly been to smaller places –The drinks are offered at special prices, $ indeed :) The biggest tip I can give you, if you really aren’t into dive bars feel free to go somewhere where you pay for parking, pay for over-priced drinks, and have to look a certain way to get in. This would obviously not be the spot for you. I had a great experience and will be back!
