The Go-​To place when it comes to needing a Clean cut. ALL barbers will get the job, I’ve been cutting my hair with these guys for the past 15 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Game systems for kids to play and Flat screens with spots games going on. Highly Recommend this shop ! –RuRu

I don’t understand how they have, walk-​ins welcome & yet you walk in and get turned away bcuz they are booked with appointments. I walked in and there’s only 2 ppl sitting down waiting a father with his son. How long would it have took to cut a 6 year old hair with out messing up ur «appointments» seems like they already have their own customers and that’s fine just take down that walk-​in welcome sign.

My son and his dad both go here. My son sees Ivan who is awesome, he used to hate getting haircuts but now he enjoys going to the shop & his hair is always perfect! All three men are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place

Come through to The Proper! Everyone here at the shop is very talented at what they do. The place is clean, the seating is pretty comfy, they have some consoles set up in the corner if you have kids and they need something to kill time on, and best of all they have two large flat screens to keep you entertained while you get your cut. Just make sure you book an appointment because these guys are pretty busy most of the time, ask for Ivan!

Really enjoyed my experience here. I had been to a couple places before, and never left satisfied. I’d tell them what I want, but they would give me the typical undercut everyone gets and just assumed that’s what I wanted.
However, here at the Proper, Gabriel actually listened and knew exactly what I wanted, and he finally gave me the cut I had been looking for. They’re also really reasonably priced ($ 15 for a walk in cut, $ 20 for an appointment).
The place itself gives off a very laid back vibe too. They had sports stuff on all the walls, and had the Champions League match playing on the tvs. This is definitely my new spot.
They only take cash, so don’t forget that part when going in!

Great experience, new to Downey and wanted a new local barber. The location is pretty sweet and welcoming. The appointments are a bit more, but worth it to skip the waiting time. Great fades and good prices.

When in for the first time and was nervous due to getting my hair cut somewhere new and not knowing if they’re are going to mess it up, but I was really happy how it turned out. I have a side part and Ivan hooked it up. Took his time and new exactly what he was doing. Would definitely recommend this place, at least Ivan knows his shit.

You know when you look for a new barber after moving to a new area it’s hard to find that haircut you always liked but this place is mine and my sons new spot. From basic fade and nice comb overs for kids it’s the best place for both. Will be coming here from now on

These guys are perfectionists at their craft and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’ve been getting my hair cut by Jorge for about 4 months now. From a bald fade to a comb-​over, he knows what he is doing.
I’ve seen a few other guys cutting also while I’m in the chair and they to are nothing short but professionals.
I don’t see me going anywhere else for a cut but THE PROPER. Why? Because my cuts are always PROPER!
8:30am at the moment as I write this review because guess what? I’ll be calling at 9am to schedule my appointment!
Their shop is clean, comfortable and easy to find.
Top notch guys — keep up the great work.

Best spot for a good cut! These guys do flawless work. Jorge, Ivan, and Gabriel are amazing artist when it comes to barbering! Both my son’s are their weekly clients! Highly recommended!!!

I moved to the area last year and it was difficult to find a great barber. I probably tried every barbershop within a 5 mile radius. I have to say Proper really blew me away. I have tried every barber here and they do an amazing job. It’s hard to find a barbershop like that. I often switch up my hair styles and it’s great to have barbers that know what I envision. I always leave as a satisfied costumer.

I found this place on Unilocal,called to book an appointment for my son & the guy who answered passed the phone to another guy who told me to call back when a 3rd guy was there & he might have time. I thought it was just bad luck, maybe I called at a bad time. The next day my husband walks in with my son & is told by some rude guy that no one has time and they are done for the day yet it was 2 hours before closing! Not sure how they got a perfect rating! They don’t even deserve 1 star but I couldn’t leave this review without it.

Best Barbers in town. No weak links in this barbershop. Your 1 phone call away from an appointment if you have a busy schedule and may also walk in and get great service. From kids style haircuts to a professional cut. They also specialize in designs. I’ve been getting a haircut every week for the past 8 yrs with these guys and the quality is always there from all of them
