Wow, there seems to be a real polarization of opinions here on Unilocal about Phi. Let me put my two cents in… We arrived just a few minutes before the kitchen closed one evening and were welcomed and served promptly, despite that fact clean-up had already started. Our server took her time to explain dishes to our table, including helping at least two guests with dietary issues(a vegetarian and a gluten-avoidant diner) find dishes suitable to their tastes. We were served promptly. The food was delicious, the servings adequate and the prices very fair(5 people had dinner for $ 80, including tax and tip). In addition to the customary dishes one finds in Vietnamese restaurants in NYC and Philly(phở, shrimp and sugar cane, spring rolls, rice and vermicelli-based bowls), the chef offers at least three specials, including a hot pot shrimp or fish dish, which is well worth trying. I can find little, if anything, to cite as shortcomings about Phi. The servers are youthful, but knowledgable and good-humored, the food tasty and a good value and the ambiance just fine, for a restaurant located in a strip mall. My vote is squarely on the«worth a trip» side of the argument. Phi is an asset to the Bucks County dining scene.

The appetizers are good and the Phở was great. It is BYO and no place to buy wine nearby. So be warned. My whole family agrees this is the best Phở in the area.

I am addicted to Phi’s Vegetarian Phở. The broth is so tasty and when adding the aromatic mix-ins of fresh basil, jalapeño slices and lime, it’s a complex party for the tastebuds – I crave this dish! The vietnamese pork fried rice with vegetables is a great side dish and the Lotus Shrimp salad of shredded vegetables, slices of fresh shrimp with a sweet vinegar dressing is a great refreshing starter. Our family has a tradition of eating Asian food for dinner most Sundays and we’re glad to have this tasty option.

The PHO is not flavorful. I added the lime and the other condiments that came with it, but still pretty bland. The Vietnamese restaurants in Philly have it all over this place.

I have been here several times and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. The Grilled Chicken Summer Rolls and the Phở with Thin Eye Round are my favorites. I only wish the Bahn-Mi was on the regular menu and not just take out. That’s why there is a star deduction.

Wow! Incredible Vietnamese food! Some of the best I’ve had in America! Living in California I get some pretty good options and whenever I visit in central PA there aren’t many diverse options. Please go out of your way to eat here if you’re in town.

Awesome phó!! We brought our two children here, aged 7&9. They each dug into their seafood and meatball phó respectively. *slurp*. The dishes ranged from $ 10-$ 12. We spent around $ 75 for two chicken vermicelli dishes, two phó, a side of spring rolls, three drinks and a coffee. Food was fresh and super tasty. The service was nice and friendly too. I appreciated that. If we didn’t live two hours away, we’d be here twice a week or more! Shame on those people posting poor reviews for a free meal. You suck. Plain and simple.

I had such high hopes for this place. I love vietnamese food. I was excited that there was one in doylestown. But, I’m disappointed with the lack of flavor. The summer rolls, meh. Bland. The house special vermicelli, again meh. It needed acidity or mint or something anything. The sauces weren’t balance either. The peanut sauce lacked the peanut and was basically hoisin with some peanut sprinkled on top. The house sauce for the vermicelli needed more acidity and heat. I was confused to see cilantro in with my veggies, but at least there was some freshness added because of that. Will I be back? Maybe. I might come back to try the phở.

the phở is fantastic, especially on a cold fall day. Very good service; highly recommend it. It’s BYO which I prefer

Maybe it was because I came in to eat with pre-conceived ideas about the quality of the food, but it was not good. Unfortunately, the service staff was noticeably untrained in customer service, as most of them appeared to be of high-school age or older. My meals were quick to come out, but when it had arrived, the meat was dry and had little to no flavor. The best part of the meal was the bread, and the tea was mediocre at best. I was hoping for some food variety in Doylestown, but will have to look elsewhere next time. However, this business is still new and hopefully will grow in time.

Decided to try this place on my lunch break. To start, I am a huge fan of Asian cuisine and have been recently introduced to Phở within the last year. I took a look at the menu and gave it a shot. I ordered the broken rice with boneless pork adding a fried egg and wow! Absolutely delicious, filling but not too much to feel sick and the flavors were jumping out at me. I would most definitely order again and recommend to other people. Nice to see Doylestown gaining a Phở place that is both inviting and delicious.

Everything we had were very sweet, except simple Phở noodle soup. Our novice server, a male waiter, was awkward to serve our table and slightly made us uncomfortable. Starting from the drinks; limeade w/honey, and Preserved Salty Lime soda that had already lost the sparkling were very sweet with no lime flavor. Our drinks were watered down, to me, and very sweet($ 4/each) — not recommend. I say this because I had much better and fresh one in Chinatown in Manhattan. Freshly squeeze lime and soda in a cup with ice. The sugar, or syrup, is on the side — very refreshing and the same price. Phở with Flank & Brisket($ 10) I’m glad my Phở was good, not the best but satisfying. The soup wasn’t overly seasoned, nor sweetened, like most of other dishes here. The light and clean taste enhanced the toppings, sprouts and chicory(?), nicely. I didn’t needed to add any condiment that were brought to our table, like spicy red chili sauce, Sriracha, or sweet, salty, and thick dark Hoisin sauce. Not having the crucial herb for Vietnamese food, basil, was a huge letdown. We’re told they’re out of basils, really? Even though we were the first customer for the night on Saturday at 5:30PM? There is a huge market across? Unbelievable. Vietnamese Savory Crêpe(Bánh xèo) $ 12 The crêpe, not only look like Egg Foo Young, was a greasy, thick and bubbling crêpe. The Vietnamese dipping sauce(Nuoc Cham) was unusually sweet. I understand some likes it this way because fat + sugar = unhealthy bomb, liked a doughnut. Our waiter added how to eat this crêpe. Like Vietnamese spring rolls, wrapping with a leaf and to Nuoc Cham sauce. But there weren’t enough leaves to wrap with. I definitely prefer Nuoc Cham sauce to be tangy with heat than overly sweet. The sauce was also tamed on fish sauce, sad. Grilled Shrimp Bun(Vermicelli rice noodle over shrimp/$ 15) — the shrimps were grilled nicely. Like all of their Buns, grilled pork, beef, and sausage, were huge and with more noodles. Comparing to Manhattan Vietnamese restaurants, the price here is one third higher and with less quality.

I went here with my family for lunch and it is a nice space; also, who doesn’t love phở? I decided last minute to get the vermicelli noodle bowl with tofu and mixed vegetables, and was so glad I did! The tofu was cooked well and the sauce was very yummy. I think my family overall liked the chicken phở a lot. Some that had gotten the flank and brisket were less impressed. Overall, kudos to Dtown for getting some phở. Will definitely try the vegetarian phở next time I’m visiting my parents and back in Bucks Co!

Great to finally have a nice Vietnamese place to grab phở in the area! The place was clean and welcoming and the beef phở was great!

As the only vietnamese/phở restaurant of it’s kind in the area, it is definitely a welcome sight. After reading some of the other reviews, I’ll have to disagree with the 1 – 2 star reviews. Of course this place isn’t something you’d find on Washington Ave. in Philly, but it’s everything you could ask for in a phở place located in the suburbs. I came for lunch with my girlfriend and we were seated and attended to promptly. The ambiance was nice, presentation clean, and food on point. While the service wasn’t attentive throughout our meal, this place opened up pretty recently so I’m sure they’ll get better with time. As for the price, it is slightly more expensive than some other notable vietnamese/phở places but it’s a fair price to pay when you don’t feel like driving the extra 30 – 40 minutes. Give this place a try if you’re in the mood for phở!

Phi Vietnamese opened its doors three weeks ago in the Crossroads Shopping Center off Rt. 313 in Doylestown. It is the first shop to offer primarily Vietnamese food in the area, and for that they are worthy of appreciation. Welcome to the hood. The store is nicely appointed with black tables and chairs and burnt orange painted walls. Looks good. The staff is mostly indigenous to VN, and are quite attentive to their customers. The menu offers what would be expected from this ethnic kitchen — Phở, Broken Rice, Summer Rolls, etc., at price points that while higher than in their siblings in less upscale environs, reflect the rent structure of the area. $ 10 may be more than we are accustomed to paying for a large bowl of noodle soup, but it is a fact of life that things cost more in better communities. Son and I stopped in for Phở Ga(Chicken Phở) and Bun Bo Hue(Beef Noodle Soup from the former royal capital of Hue in Central VN). Service was fast, although belied by slower delivery of the side plate of Thai Basil, Jalapeño Slices, Sprouts and Lime Wedges. They also forget to bring the Hoisin and Sriracha Sauces for customization. No biggie. I went to get them myself. The Chicken Phở was basic, but a solid presentation. It was steaming hot, with enough sliced white meat to keep son satisfied. The Bun Bo Hue was another matter. The spicing was off. When right, it has a balance of Lemongrass, Fermented Shrimp Sauce, Chili Pepper and Sugar, to represent the major spice groups. When joined with the amply simmered Beef Broth, and loads of thin sliced steak and brisket, it becomes a powerful combination that attacks the eyes, nose and mouth at the same time. It can literally take your breath away until you adjust to its flavors and begin to taste how great they are together. Phi’s version was unbalanced with weak Lemongrass presence, and no sweet undertone. Too, the table lacked the Vietnamese Coriander that adds to the complexity. While it was hot and possessed some kick, it could not duplicate the burst of flavors a true BBH puts out. Phi Vietnamese is certainly good enough for a second visit and hopefully they will get their spice legs beneath them and start to BRINGIT! They shouldn’t underestimate the sophistication of the local pallets, or they risk losing face to the suburban houses that can do it right, like House of Phở in Southampton and Phở Palace in Feasterville.

We have been to Phi a few times now. Everything has been amazing. From the traditional spring rolls to the wonderful Bun Bo Hue. Love this place. About time Dtown got a new and excellent restaurant. Décor is great. Colors are relaxing and just make you want to enjoy yourself. Great job.

If you follow me you know what I’m about. Won’t be dropping another dime here. Gave it a shot, I appreciate that this is their first week but there were too many problems with the food to mention. Strike that. Undercooked doughy vegetarian spring roll Tasted like leftover chicken used in their summer rolls. Vermicelli was hard to the tooth and the grilled shrimp had the flavor of acetylene welding fuel. Better off to go into Philadelphia to Vietnam or any of the Phở houses in Washington Avenue.
