Although my primary intent is to write a review of Dr. Robert Arciuolo, it is imperative that I present some information in regard to horrifying experiences with my previous dentist. He caused me a great deal of stress via his erroneous diagnoses of cavities and attempts to perform unnecessary procedures; consequently, I spent a great deal of time getting multiple second opinions and deciding upon a new dentist who I can trust and is commensurately stellar in his field.
It is a sad fact that dentistry has become a field that is rampant with unscrupulous marketing practices, with consequent non-​essential treatments being performed on patients to increase profitability. Glossy brochures/​advertisements, raffles for gifts in return for writing reviews/​referring patients, and expensive, unnecessary entertainment (e.g., tv’s on ceilings) are oftentimes employed to entice patients and make their experience «enjoyable». Buyer beware!!! These expensive marketing tactics are merely a way for dentists to build their proverbial million dollar practices. These aforementioned factors, together with the concomitant stress and distrust they cause, are the reason why I am now a patient of Dr. Arciuolo.
With the above being said, in my most recent experience with my previous dentist, I was diagnosed with 4 cavities (who employed all of the aforementioned tactics), and consequently sought second opinions from 3 other dentists. All 3 dentists confirmed my belief that I had ZERO cavities, and based upon my extensive due diligence of and personal experiences with each of them, I made my decision to switch to Dr. Arciuolo. My goal in choosing a new dentist was not based on merely maintaining a healthy smile; I was then motivated to find a dentist whose advice doesn’t need to be questioned, thereby eliminating an inordinate amount of angst and wasted time.
When I went to see Dr. Arciuolo for a second opinion, I immediately noticed that his office isn’t glamorous, there are no balloons or raffle prizes prominently displayed, no glossy advertisements for cosmetic dentistry nor ploys to entice patients to write glowing reviews. It also didn’t go unnoticed that there were no advertisements for orthodontia work (e.g., «six-​month smile, invisalign) that the dental industry is now bombarding us with, despite the fact that only 6% of dentists attend 2 – 3 years of additional education in orthodontia.
Contrastingly, Dr. Arciuolo’s office is a basic medical office, both comfortable and clean, with a degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry displayed on the wall; graduation from an Ivy League school is a testament to Dr. Arciuolo’s educational background and abilities and certainly helped to instill my confidence in him. Moreover, the office is staffed with competent personnel who are focused on providing stellar service to their patients.
During this initial visit, Dr. Arciuolo performed a thorough examination of my teeth and provided me with his assessment, i.e., no cavities. Yet when I left the office, unlike my experience with the other «second opinion dentists», I wasn’t asked to switch to his practice, set up an appointment for my next cleaning, nor was I later called at home to remind me that I needed to schedule an appointment with him. Wow, what a concept… Dr. Arciuolo did only what I asked him to do!!!
When I made my extensively-​researched opinion to become a patient of Dr. Arciuolo and went for my first cleaning, I was first greeted by his receptionist/​office manager; she was extremely professional, competent and exuded a feeling of warmth and true concern for my needs. After checking in, I was immediately invited into the patient room (no wait time!!) for my cleaning. My hygienist, Kate, was extremely professional and did an impeccable job cleaning my teeth. I am thrilled to say that it was the best cleaning I ever had; Kate’s work is clearly exceptional. Moreover, she didn’t try to talk me into getting braces, getting my teeth whitened, or any other type of «add-​on» treatment.
Moreover, when Dr. Arciuolo examined my teeth after the cleaning, he, too, exhibitied a no-​nonsense approach with true professionalism via his overview/​assessment of my dental health. I was thrilled to learn that my continual efforts via at-​home dental care/​hygiene had paid off, and that I was in no need of any additional work. Nor did he ask me to write a review or tell me about the prizes I could win if I referred a patient; words cannot adequately express the relief I felt after having been exposed to these types of discomfiting experiences with my previous dental office.

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Arciuolo to anyone who is seeking a principled, ethical, highly competent dentist with commensurately stellar office staff!
