We’ve ordered takeout from Spatola’s a few times, and it’s always been«meh» at best. Tonight was definitely subpar. We ordered two medium pizzas — one plain and one with ham and pineapple, which most people call«Hawaiian», but at Spatola’s a Hawaiian is bacon and pineapple — and a salad. The pizza had a miserly handful of ham and pineapple(see picture) and was greasy. We ordered two pizzas so we’d have leftovers for lunch the next day. Nobody wanted the leftovers. All in all, pretty unsatisfying for $ 36.

This is the local pizza place and they have become used to people coming in no matter what. They need to make improvements. 1. Steak sandwiches are dry and short on meat 2. Pizza crust is always under cooked and doughy maybe check your oven temp. 3. Add a new item once in awhile. Just a few changes could make a big difference.

The food and service is only good when the owner is there. We’ve seen a distinct difference between when the Italian looking guy(maybe 25 – 30 y/o) is there and when it is all Spanish workers. They are very nice, but the quality of the food is WAY different!!! He needs to find an assistant manager ASAP for times that he is not there…

This review has a disclaimer — we are talking about Doylestown, which is not exactly the pizza mecca of the world. Standards need to be kept realistic. That said — Never had anything but pizza from here, but it’s always pretty solid. I’ve never been outright disappointed. The sauce is actually quite good, but the crust on a standard round pie can certainly be cooked more thoroughly. For me, the standout is their Brooklyn Pie, which is really good — this pie earns them the 4 stars.

I like this place. We always get the pizza crispy or well done and it’s very good. Good value. Don’t expect a gourmet meal.

Try the frozen food section at the super market, you will get better results. Recently, we had to eat here because we ran out of Tombstone pizza. Over the last 8 years we have eaten here due to close proximity to our home. We have had some really bad food but edible in general. Last Friday was the worst. The hamburger was half frozen and the bun was so stale it was impossible to chew. I tried cutting it but the knife simply chipped off pieces. The pizza had canned mushrooms and pickled green peppers with over cooked brown broccoli and under cooked cheese. This wouldn’t have been so bad except I ordered the special which was suppose to be all meat. I wanted sausage, pepperoni, and ham. But, we were hungry so we ate it. I had the worst belly ache. My son had the personal cheese pizza. How do you mess that up? Well the crust was burnt on one side and under done on the other. I have learned my lesson. I don’t care how convenient this place is to my home. I would rather eat from the frozen food section next door at the Rite Aid.

if your looking for the best pizza in the Bucks County area then Spatolas aka Spats is the place to go. All there pizzas are made with the finest cheeses, sauces, and dough. I am a lifetime customer being that I grew up walking distance from the pizzeria. To say their pizzas, subs, salads and specials are not great, is simply a mistake. This is a family owned business, and you feel that whenever you walk in the doors. A+ the best pizzeria on the East Coast, hands down.

For what they are, the inconsistent food is sometimes worth it. However, my most recent experiences were both bad. Last Thursday night, we got in late and decided to order pizza. We got 2 pizzas, one cheese, the other mushroom and green pepper. The plain pizza was fine, but the vegetable one? Really really bad. The crust was burnt, the mushrooms slimy and overall, poor. I simply cannot understand how a place that has PIZZA in the name cant send out a consistent pizza. There have been times the pizza has been good, and we have also had decent sandwiches, but really? A burnt crust? I am not talking dark, I am talking CHARRED crust! They didn’t notice? A few days later, I was on my way to my mothers and she asked me to pick up their to go order. It was 2 sandwiches. One tuna, one cheese steak with fried onions, She ordered it at about 5:45, and I arrived at about 6:05. When I got there, the young lady at the register was discussing an order with a cook, and then she returned to her customer and said, we gave your order to someone else. I don’t know what happened, but they are making it again. Okkkay. Not, I am sorry for the inconvenience, we will have it to you right now, but we gave it away, oh well, we’ll make another. Eventually, I made my way to the cashier and gave the order number to a young man, He looked high and low. over and over. He wandered the place for a few minutes and then returned to me, asking what I ordered. After I told him, he returned with 2 tuna hoagies, with another number on them(I wonder how they gave away other orders???) and said, is this it? After reminding him there was also a cheese steak, he wandered off again, and seemed to go to the line cook and have him make another. So apparently, the order that was expected to take 10 min was not completed in 20. With my small child waiting, and not quite sure what was happened, I asked the cashier who was in charge. She looked blankly and said, Roberto, you be in charge! Um, what, now? Roberto was the guy still wandering around, seeking my lost cheese steak. Someone else, an older lady at the phone, who at no point in the time I had been there(About 15 min at this point) had gotten off the phone, eventually raised her head and told me I needed to relax. So apparently, expecting decent customer service is not only discouraged at Spatola’s on Cold Spring Creamery Rd, it is considered inappropriate behavior. Still, I soldiered on, since I committed to bring my parents a tuna hoagie and a cheese steak, and asked her if there was a way to know when it might be done. She looked blankly at me, and didn’t answer. Great! After a beat, she remarked, this is pizza, not fast food. I wanted to tell her that I would settle for slow, if I actually got the order, but choose to stand silently, ever hopeful my order would appear. Eventually, a lifetime, or after an additional 15 minutes passed, and without so much as an I apologize for the delay, I was handed a greasy bag and sent on my way. Guess what? The items in the bag were not the aforementioned cheese steak and tuna hoagie. Sigh. I should have checked the bag. This is why I will drive a bit further to go to Dominicks in Plumstead, where they seem to understand that decent pizza, consistent results and good service matter.

The guys serving the pizza went out of there way to be nice. The selection of pizza is amazing. I had a slice with every type of meat possible. My fiancé had taco pizza that had some heat to it. WOW great pizza and a nice place.

This place has the second-best Italian hoagie in the Doylestown-Buckingham area(Altomonte’s is my #1 choice). Although the pizza here is not gourmet it is a great standard pizza joint. Before all of the new and hip places come in, this is where my family and friends went for their pizza-needs. Service has always been great here for me, so I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about! Since I live in Pipersville now, I usually frequent the Spatola’s outpost there– especially since they deliver!!!

Thanks to Unilocal this was a last minute find when we had a few more guests for dinner than anticipated. I placed an order on a Saturday evening right after Mass across the street for an Italian stromboli. It was difficult to understand the person who answered the phone, and I didn’t have a menu in front of me so I didn’t know exactly what I was getting, but turned out great. It had a few different meats, cheese, mushrooms, and peppers. We got a large stromboli and cut it into 10 pieces. Everyone enjoyed it. The restaurant said it would be 15 to 20 minutes, but it was more like 30, and I’m not sure how they keep the orders straight. It seems like there’s a good chance you will end up with food you didn’t order. In fact, they tried to give me a cheesesteak and some french fries.

With other good pizza options in the area, why would you choose this place? I found the pizza to be quite poor quality(lousy, thin, doughy crust, and no flavor), and the service mediocre. They acted like they didn’t really care about anything they were doing. I wouldn’t go back. I was expecting a family run place, but they had all Mexicans making the pizza. The dining room could have been cleaner, too.

These guys are ok. They are owned by somebody who I went to school with but that won’t make my review biased. The one thing that really bothers me though I’d that this place is mostly operated by mexicans… spatolas is supposed to be Italian and they have mexicans working behind the counter… guess that’s how everywhere is nowadays tho… The pizza is not anything to brag about, it’s not poor but it’s not great. It’ll hit the spot for when your need pizza and beer for a football game and it’s better then the national chains but otherwise if you drive like 10 min down the road you can hit thr candlewyck and they are the tops. But back to spatolas, their cheese steaks are pretty good but don’t get the chicken cheese steaks. The calzones are also very good too so I would hope their Strombolis are as well. The service here is ok but I’ve had better. Honestly this is a place that is making it by and has average food for the average person.

Poor pizza, ok sandwiches, decent service. Bottom line for pizza a bad choice. If you want a hoagie or steak sandwich it is «ok».

Great cheesesteaks and subs. My friend thought their pasta and salad were okay as well. There pizza is above average and worth picking up on your way home. They usually give you your order # over the phone that they ask for when you pick up the food. I think we’ve gotten a canoli from here that was pretty good as well. If you live in the area and haven’t tried this place you should go. It is not as good as Buckingham Pizza but still good. The subs are better than the pizza
