I had eaten here once before years ago and wasn’t impressed. I’m glad I tried it again. The food was excellent and the service was great. Yes, it’s a little crowded but well worth it. I’m definitely going back.

PRO-Went back in with some friends to find a new, slightly smaller menu. We got appetizers, the mussels Bianco was fabulous. Stuffed mushrooms & Arancini(little rice balls, fried w/tomato sauce) were very good as well. Salads were better than in most places. Meals came, fish fabulous, excellent ravioli, huge portions, all very good. Service was a little slow(see Cons below) but our waitress was very sweet. CON-Place was PACKED! We were elbow to elbow with the people at the next table(as always) but it’s never been so crowded before. I think the«$ 10 off coupon» that came in the mail this week had alot of people trying it. Not sure the management can figure a way to make it less noisy and«close»(other than pull out some tables & I doubt they will do that). Ward was sad to see all scallops off the new smaller menu. Maybe they will be back as a «special» some nite. SO-GO…the food will be very good. But its not a good place to discuss the current Presidential primaries, unless you want the guy at the next table’s opinion. We avoided politics and had a great meal. Scola’s has been here a long time, you can see why.

I hadn’t been here for a long time, so I was excited to go back. I’m sorry to say I was very disappointed. The service was inattentive even though it was a very slow night. I should’ve known we were in trouble when the hostess dropped out menus on the table and walked away without saying a word. We ordered veal parm and gnocchi Juliana. The veal was overdone and the gnocchi was gummy and not what the menu indicated. On the menu, the gnocchi is stated as being served in a brandy Marsala sauce with a touch if marinara, but it was actually all marinara, which was awful. We sat by the window and the ledge was sooo dirty that our phone STUCK to it!!! The clam chowder and French onion soup was good and well seasoned. The chocolate cannoli was good, too. Disappointed to say, I will not be returning …

I’ve had their lasagna from here and it tasted awful. It was the worst lasagna I’ve ever had. I’ll never eat from here again.

We’ve been going here on and off since it opened many years ago. In the beginning we went here all the time for lunch, dinners and even catered take out. The food has always been good. I had a service issue many years ago and didn’t go back for a while. We received a gift certificate a couple years ago and rediscovered this place. Fresh scali bread is put on the table to start. The seafood dinners are amazing. Chicken marsala is also very good. During the week they have a great dinner for two special. Good authentic Italian style food. The service has been very good and attentive since we’ve been back.

Just ate here for lunch. We got the fish & chips for $ 7.99. Outstanding! So fresh and moist! With generous portions, and nicely done onion rings and fries. The waitstaff was pleasant! Would certainly go here again! Very clean. Nice ambiance.

Very good food! Had catering from here for our company luncheon. The food was fresh and tasty. Based on the fact that they were able to deliver this kind of quality in quantity and maintain the texture and flavor of a freshly made dish, I will be visiting the restaurant soon. Some of the best Italian food I have had recently. The Pasta Alfredo with chicken was my favorite and I usually go for tomato based dishes. Their marinara was good too.

To start, there were five of us and we were seated at a table meant for four people when there was a larger table right next to us. We also had to wait for that table when there were plenty other tables open. I ordered a pizza, I was informed that they only had pizza on Fridays even though it was on the normal menu. Disappointed I ordered the salmon. It was so dry and rubbery I had to send it back. It was the last piece so they couldn’t make a new one. No one was really impressed with their meal. The sauce was way too sweet, the fish didn’t taste fresh. Service was slow and overall I was unimpressed and do not intend to return.

Don’t really understand where these bad reviews are coming from. My family used to be a huge fan of Scola’s 10 – 15 years ago. Every Friday night we got takeout. Place was outstanding. Then the folks moved to Florida, and we had a pretty long hiatus from the restaurant. Upon returning for a visit recently, some of our family, who were diehard Scola fans, had given us cool reviews. Then there were the Unilocal reviews I mentioned earlier. So we decided to check it out and decide for ourselves. Without question, Scola’s remains the undisputed champion of Italian food north of Boston. Service, delivered by a waitress named«Babbs» was outstanding. She catered to our every need and had an incredibly pleasant disposition. As for the food, it was on point, the level of quality you would get in Boston’s North End. Regardless of what anyone says, Scola’s remains a top-tier Italian restaurant, and a favorite for myself and my family.

I was expecting so much more from this place. Friend recommended it to me… We came there on Friday night. We had reservations and was seated right a way. Interior is just blah, outdated and«dusty». I order melon margarita– it came without salt, and did not taste like margarita at all, glass was half full and drink was too strong. I asked waiter to do something with it, and she brought me back tasteless, «waterdown» substance– very disappointing. Then we wanted to ordered scallops wrapped in bacon– they were«out of it». We wanted do order their supreme lobster– they are out of lobsters too! Really? At 7.30 pm on Friday night you are out of your most popular dish? Service was lousy, we wait too long for our food, and forever for our check and even longer to get the card back. The food is no good either– to much crumbs on everything, fried items are greasy, staffed mushrooms are tasteless with too much bread staffing and nothing else on them. I got seafood pie — blend, and too much crumbs again! The best thing on the menu seems to be lobster roll and their bread with deeping oil. Unfortunately can not recommend this place and will not be back.

Too many regulars that have ‘taken over’ the business. This impacts the service to new patrons and occasional repeat diners. Service is slow, inattentive, Food is just okay, similar to a local pizza place. Seems that management is not aware, or does not care. Surprisingly, some folks have assigned a five star rating. I don’t see it.

This is our second time eating here and the food is sooooo good!!! My husband had the Shrimp Alfredo and I had the Linguine du Scola(chicken parm, sausages, meatballs and linguine). The portions were huge! I have enough leftovers for both of us. The only downside is the service. Each time we were here it took forever for our waitress to take our order. This past visit we didn’t have settings or plates for our bread and it took asking our waitress twice to receive them. She didn’t come back after we got our food until we were finished. It wasn’t that busy so I don’t know why she never came back. We want to go back but with slow service it’s debatable.

Used a Groupon, $ 50 for $ 100. Hubby and I took our 3 adult daughters and a boyfriend. Food was barely average. They were out of many items, like gnocchi. Did not expect that at an Italian restaurant. 2 daughters got the Fruits of the Sea which is a specialty. 4 of us had tasted it. The two who ate it were quite ill all night. The other two felt slightly ill. I called the next day to alert them about this. They denied it could possibly be their fault and there was«some GI bug going around.» I was not calling the board of health… I called them to alert them. I did not want anything but the satisfaction that they knew there could have been a problem. But no, they were not hearing that. Their loss. Won’t go again. The Veal and Chicken Parm were fair. The waitress was very nice.

Last time I went to Scolas was about 6 years ago and it was great! This time… yikes. I went with my mother at 5:30. We were seated promptly, and there were about 4 other tables seated. It took about 15 minutes to order our drinks and another 15 to get them. By this time 4 other groups had come in. My mother and I both ordered the Chicken Francese(lightly battered chicken breast with pasta in a lemon white wine sauce). By the time we finally got our food, all 4 groups that came in after us had already eaten their dinners! By this time we’re getting pretty hungry. When the food finally comes. It’s awful. The pasta was plain and there was a puddle of what tasted like lemon water on the bottom of the plate… The«lightly battered chicken» was soggy all over. The whole dish was bland and pretty disappointing. I won’t be going back.

I’m surprised by some bad reviews, the food was excellent. We had lobster pie and prime rib with stuffed shrimp. It was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. The restaurant was small and in a shopping plaza but it’s fine with me, my food was great.

My parents got a bunch of platters for my family to share for my going away party. Food was good, the pancetta cabonerra has always been my favorite dish but it wasn’t the knock down home run I remember it to be.

My husband and I went for a late night dinner. He was really hungry, I wasn’t. We ordered wine and asked to have the bartender pick something nice. YUCK. I’d hate to taste the cheap stuff. The bread was something I buy at the grocery store. The salad was good. The fried calamari(not good). I think there is much better places around for Italian food.

Went here last week, and got the prime rib. I got the smallest size they had… and it was not small. It was also very good. I don’t normally get steak, but it was worth it. My wife got some seafood, and she was also very happy with it.
