Let me tell you about this company. My in-laws have been responsible for caring for our Aunt, who is on the mid to late stages of Alzheimer’s disease. This woman can not be left alone, and must need 24 hour help. year after year, if has been difficult finding people to care for her as she has become fairly aggressive at times and requires people who have experience in caring for patients like this. for the first time ever, we sought professional help, my in-laws called handi-care inc. to provide services just for the week of Christmas, hoping that our family could have one week of peace. We refuse to put her in a home, because we want her to have the best quality of life. The first girl who took care of her, who is supposedly«trained», as told by one of the representatives on the phone, started crying and called the company so she could leave when she had one of her bad moments. it turns out, that she was trained, but this was the first in-house patient shes ever dealt with. Our aunt is pretty advanced in dementia. Why would they send an inexperienced aide? the other 3 or so days went well, until today, Christmas Day, when there was no one to care for our Aunt. No one showed up. My mother-in-law called about 10 times on the emergency line. no answer. About a couple of hours later, she decided to check her email, It turns out they sent an email out stating that our staff wanted Christmas off, so no one will be here on Christmas day. Are you kidding me?! Seriously?! after we had agreed to this? After we planned, and talked about how we were to spend this day, this company sends an email? THENIGHTBEFORE?! That’s right, instead of calling us early morning yesterday, they sent us an email. We hardly use emails. Our internet is limited! What we do have, is caller ID, and NOONE called us. And, Our cell phones are connected via bluetooth to the landline phones so should we receive a call it directs it to the house phone. I say this because, THEYCALLEDBACKANDTRIEDTOTELLUSTHEYCALLEDUSYESTERDAY. Out of all the things we could ever ask for, we just wanted, one week where we didnt have to worry about this poor woman who is losing herself. a moment when we didnt have worry about traveling too far in case of an emergency. A time when we honestly could have a real vacation, and not be pressured to put her in a home where they’ll drug her into oblivion and wait for her to die, instead of living as peacefully as she could in the comfort of her own home and die with dignity. This company had officially ruined a Christmas that was thoroughly planned and highly anticipated. Thanks for NOTHING Handi-Care Inc! By the way, they only pay their workers 10 dollars an hour. They are absolutely the worst. THEWORST.
