Love this old time general store!!! The owner is great and willing to help you with anything you need. He has expert construction, plumbing, and concrete skills and can suggest what you need for any project.

This store has been in existence for over 100 years and is co-located with the U.S. Post Office at Dry Creek, WV(The post office is actually inside the store). The post office has been there since 1884 and I believe the post office was there before the store(but I am not sure). I’m not sure of the original owners of the store but Jarrell’s have owned it for at least the last 60 years. I grew up in this area although I no longer live here. So, I know the current owner(Gary Jarrell) and knew the previous two owners(Charlie Jarrell for whom the store is currently named and Carl Jarrell before him for whom the store was named when he was the owner). Gary chose to retain Charlie’s name on the store and not rename it for himself as Charlie and Carl did while owners. They sell a small and good variety of food, feed, hardware and gardening items as well as gasoline and kerosene. They are a little more expensive on some items, but you are paying for the convenience here folks. The closest major shopping is Beckley(26 miles away). So unless you have major shopping to do, you’re saving $$ here. The current and previous owners are and have been very active community supporters in numerous ways. This area for the most part is still a coal mining community which has had it’s ups and downs. The owners have always supported it’s customers by extended them credit during hard times and not knowing when they were going to be paid. Every time that I go back to the area, I make it a point to always stop here and visit. Very nice people. I don’t believe you can get better than this
