Sold me a cake with MOLD! Now I don’t even think that chocolate on top is actually chocolate. Never going back to this place.

After in here just to check out on a Sunday. We just had breakfast two doors down. They had a cart tray of fresh baked goods, looked sweet. I noticed on the board they have tamales on weekends. I coxed the BF to purchase the tamale pollo y verde. He agreed and also purchase a couple pan ducle for our hike. The tamale had the flavor and taste I was anticipating. Just the right amount of kick of salsa verde and chicken. We should of have bought two, I almost finished the whole thing! Was the perfect snack for our hike at Azuza Fish Canyon, after we reached the waterfalls. The cookie was sweet and hefty, was kinda meh and the sweet biscuit, was too sweet for my taste buds but was good since my body really needed the sugar. I think it we should have picked the savory one. Parking is easy and ample. I’d definitely stop by this hole in the wall joint if I were in the area again, especially for the tamales.

Tried this place for the first time the other day. The pan dulce was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Lots of variety too. I wasn’t too impressed with the French rolls, however(not crusty enough outside or soft enough inside), then again it’s hard to find any that come close to the long-gone Foix bakery that used to be in Cypress Park… but I digress. I’d shop here again, for sure.

My grandmother LOVES their emapandas de calabaza. I think there pan dulce and champurado are both good. However, I should mention that they charge you for credit card use. This isn’t a big deal, pretty normal, but the problem is they don’t post a sign or warn you. I even asked the lady«do you take cc?» she said yes and didn’t bother to disclose the charge. I thought that was a little shady. I noticed on my receipt was higher than the original charge and I asked her about it and she just shrugged and said it was for the cc. I asked why she didn’t disclose it and she had no explanation. I explained that I had cash but only used my cc cause she didn’t mention the extra charge. She just said sorry. The original charge was for $ 5.30 and she charged me $ 0.70 for cc use. That’s a little odd considering I was paying with a Visa card and I’ve never seen anyone charge $ 0.70 for a Visa card. Maybe American Express, but not Visa. I honestly think she just evened out the amount to a nice round number. Kinda fishy… I probably will go back, just cause my grandmother really likes their empanadas but not for myself. However, I will always pay with cash and watch how much she charges me. No trust there.

Excellent tamales on the weekends! This is a little hole in the wall near Janet’s Mediterranean and Tropicana Market. Storefront: Selection: I wandered quite some time ago to inquire about tamales and picked up some pan dulce while I was there. Pan dulce wasa fresh with a wide selection. There happened to be my very favorite available, so that made me happy. Tamales are available on weekends only. I chose these ones to have for our Christmas dinner. Masa is moist, meat is flavorful. There is also a dessert case with rice puddings, gelatins, cakes, candy apples, etc. I continue to get tamales here and now and then stop by to bring in pan dulce for our lab meetings at work.

I have been coming to this bakery since I was a little kid, and have always had the same kind of experience with both the food and staff. Firstly, it’s a very small store considering that it’s a family owned business. Secondly, the mexican breads and desserts that they have there are so delicious! There is a very large assortment and are all freshly made. This place isn’t the best, but they sure have some really good sweets!
