Great little store and a worthy destination when you’re looking for something special. Perfect fit for old Dublin when your just striking around.

Need something to «Irish» up a gift? Looking for some lovely, handmade wool sweaters or blankets? Then, this is your place. Not only is the shop delightful, so is the owner. It’s a great place to pick up a little something unique(Guinness shaped egg cups, anyone?). Stop by here and then take a short walk up to Winan’s for some chocolates.

Ha’penny Bridge Imports of Ireland did not disappoint in the 15 minutes I took to browse this fine little store in old Dublin, Ohio. I had read the reviews here in Unilocal Central Ohio(5-stars all) so I had formed high expectations. BINGO — kiss the Blarney Stone and wear some green! Upon entering the store I was greeted and asked if I was seeking anything of a specific nature. When I said ‘just browsing’ I was told that I could ask questions about anything, see anything. Very nice and approachable staffer. Lots to see hidden behind a modest front door. I was struck by one revolving case of sterling silver jewelry. As a longtime fan of Celtic art including crosses, medallions, tri-rings and such… oh, lawdy, was there some fine craftsmanship on display. Then a quick look around I found wool products, mugs, hats & caps, wall hangings… I mean, this place has it all and then some. When I announced I was leaving(but assured the staff I would return), I was told that the owner will find anything, Anything(!) that originates in Ireland… if I didn’t see it in Ha’penny Bridge Imports. I am a believer. Great store — I encourage anyone of Irish descent to make a trip to old Dublin and Ha’penny Bridge… and those who are dancing the jig,… get jiggy and go, too.

I have been going to Ha’Penny Bridge for years, and there’s a reason for that. This place has to be one of the best specialty shops around, and in my opinion, the best Irish import shop there is. My wife knows that every wedding anniversary(our’s is March 17, go figure) and a fair amount of birthdays, Mother’s Days, and Christmases she’s probably going to get something from Ha’Penny Bridge. She loves it, and I actually like shopping there. There’s lots to choose from at Ha’Penny Bridge, from hand-made Irish-imported clothing to jewelry, to woodworking, to Waterford crystal, to Guiness apparel, to music, to gifts for kids and babies for all occassions — birthdays, weddings, baptisms, anniversaries, holidays… you see where I’m going with this. They have a great selection of almost everything Irish! I love the layout in an old house in Dublin’s Historic District and the friendly and knowledgeable staff who always help and are very good with suggestions. The only thing I would change would be for them to have started offering formal kilt rentals back when we got married because we couldn’t find anyone who did back then! Ha’Penny Bridge is a great shop anytime of year.

Ha’ Penny is tucked in Historic Dublin, just off 270. I’ve literally been looking for a place of this caliber for years and years. We first me Al and Anne(the owners) at the Dublin Irish Festival last year. After searching and searching for someone to obtain our family tartan for my upcoming wedding(!!!) Al and Anne were the literal«diamonds in the rough»! We’d found others at the Festival that could«maybe» get something«similar»…however the Ha’ Penny could get us exactly what we wanted. We’ve had an excellent experience throughout the entire kilt renting/buying process; even acquiring genuine high quality gillies for our ensemble. All of the staff I’ve met in the store have been exceptionally helpful and always pleasant. The shop is filled with genuine Irish material; shirts, rings, necklaces, you name it. They truly excel at working with each & every customer to get them exactly what they want. No job too small or large, this is THE place for any and all Irish material; let alone simply good products and exceptional service. Even if not of Irish heritage, treat yourself by stopping by and looking around the store. It’s well worth your time(and money)!!!

Located in the heart of Historic Dublin, Ha’Penny is always our first stop when looking for gifts. The staff and the owners are wonderfully helpful. The selection fantastic. When I was pregnant, Al helped me find a useful wool sweater that would be flexible, warm and useful for my ever burgeoning belly. Since then, our family has returned regularly. Kind, warm hearted and supportive of other local businesses, too. Just what you’d expect from a family owned business.

I first heard of this place via the Small Business Beanstalk website, where they offer 17% off with your SBB card. Since I’m a sucker for anything Irish and was looking for a gift for my grandmother who is too, I decided to check it out. It’s located in Historic Dublin and just as quaint as you’d expect. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the friendly woman behind the desk(so bummed I didn’t get her name!), then I wandered toward the back to begin browsing. There are three or four rooms all open to each other stocked with everything Irish you could possibly want. Belleek china, glassware, throw blankets and pillows, tapestries, wool sweaters, Celtic crosses, gold and silver jewelry, Christmas ornaments and decorations, wedding gifts and more. They also had your typical assortment of cheesy shotglasses and t-shirts if you’re just looking for something fun for St. Patrick’s Day. The prices were all very reasonable, too. Obviously a lot of these items are imported and can get pretty pricey but that would be true for anywhere you were going to buy them. The two Belleek pieces I purchased were the same price as anywhere I’d found them online, plus no shipping, and with my SBB17% off… quite a steal. The thing that impressed me the most, though, was how absolutely wonderful the woman running things was. I was staring blankly at a jewelry case for a few minutes, trying to figure out what in the world my grandmother would like, when she asked if I needed to see anything in the case. I explained the trouble I was having, and she came over to suggest some things and helped me look through the jewelry. When I couldn’t decide on that she suggested other things they had that might work, and after shooting her down several times(my grandmother is pretty difficult to shop for) we ended up back at the Belleek china. We chatted a little and she made some more suggestions, then left me to browse. It only took me a few minutes after that to decide on what I wanted, then we chatted some more while she boxed them up for me and then rang everything up. She was absolutely wonderful and a huge help, and again, I’m really sad I didn’t catch her name. xD I was very impressed by the selection of items and the wonderful help I received, and I’ll definitely be back!
