Jack’s Hamburgers

Amazing. I eat here every time I come home. The burgers are delicious. The only thing I would change is the size of the patties. You need to order at least a double to be able to really taste the meat. Now… on to the meat. I have no idea how they make their meat or what they put in it but it is way better than any chain restaurant I have ever been to. Highly recommended.

I love trying new things and experiencing new places. If you peruse my reviews, then you already know this, but Jack’s just plain did not deliver a pleasing overall experience.
Extremely narrow inside. Put it this way, I didn’t make it past the register since there was only about 2 ft of available space to walk. I was told by my fiancé that they used to have a different location; why they downgraded to a smaller place, I do not know. I used his judgement to decide what to get and he ordered us 8 triples with mustard, ketchup and onions. They do not offer cheese, nor any other toppings. Nor fries. Or onion rings. Or salad. Just chips. It came to $ 30. Shocked and confused, I told the man we only brought a $ 20 and I assumed it would cover the amount. I couldn’t imagine how each burger would be about $ 3.50 when the sign on the wall said they’d be $ 1.89…So I suggested we take off our drinks and get singles instead. He said he could not change anything since it was already put in and that there was a bank around the corner. Excuse me? Oh, they only accept cash.
Well, we walked down the sidewalk to the bank and contemplated just driving away. We ultimately withdrew $ 20 (with the additional $ 2.50 surcharge since it wasn’t our bank) and went back; well my fiancé went back, I was too infuriated to go back inside.
He walked out with a smile. Turns out the gentleman had rung us up for someone else’s order in addition to ours, so they corrected it and charged us the correct $ 16. The meat patties are about a silver dollar sized, deep fried a little and slid in between two tiny steamed buns. Granted, they were good but the ketchup was too sweet for my liking and I’m not a fan of mustard. I read on the other reviews they were compared to Krystals or White Castle, but in my personal opinion the only thing they had in common was their size. Plus, we had to order a «triple» to get any taste of the meat. If I remember correctly, you can order 12 Krystals burgers and with cheese for less than the price of Jack’s.
I’m a supporter of local establishments and rarely frequent chain restaurants unless necessary, but with my experience today, I will be passing them by unless someone else is buying.

I love to cater to one of a kind local cafes that have a long history but this small long and narrow counter restaurant in downtown Dublin may be a local intuition since it’s been around since the ’30 but the hamburgers are not very good at all. The burgers are very small slider like mini burgers with meat paddies the size of a child’s palm. They are greasy and mostly consisted of bun and do not come with lettuce, tomato, mayonaise or cheese as any options nor do they serve even french fries… just these sorry, salty burgers and hot dogs (which I did not try) and sodas.
The workers were friendly enough but have VERY thick accents to the point I could barely understand what they were saying and the café was not very clean.
Other patrons were quite hospitable and evidently LOVED the place and have been coming here since they were youngsters.

You’ll have to pack in because the restaurant is super narrow and small! The hamburgers are served on buns like you would find at Krystals. For the hamburgers think meatballs squished flat and then fried in a shallow pan of grease. Don’t worry about toppings here, only four to choose from: Mustard, Ketchup, Chipped Onions and Hot Sauce! I recommend them all. You can choose your burger single or double on your bun. Again the burger are very small, honestly too small but this is a great place to try. Only chips to accompany your meal also. Cash only. You may not leave full but you should leave happy none the less!!!
