H and R street coils installed over a year ago on a VW CC, lately the 40K scheduled service… DONE… additional work on two other occasions, diagnosed and completed… DONE and I live 40 miles away too.

Found these guys through Unilocal and took my BMW 550i for an inspection… they were very reasonable on the inspection, clearly described to me the problems they found and were very prompt and more than reasonable in all the repairs that they did for me, WAYYYY cheaper than the dealer !! The car runs like a charm again !!! Would definitely go back for all my future BMW maintenance needs !!

I received Excellent Customer service from Evan when I brought over my Porsche to get the Oil Change Reset and he went out of his way to help me at no charge. So when it was time to get 35k miles service on my Audi Q5, I knew where I am going. I was in and out in 30 mins. Eva was very helpful again. The rates are perfect, the peace of mind you get taking your cars to Evan is invaluable. I am a customer for life!

Evan, Rich and the rest of the crew at Performance Autowerk are top notch. If you’re a meticulous owner of a German car, I highly recommend this place for all of your service and repair work. This is not your average mechanic.
These guys take genuine pride in their work and they are good at what they do, yet their prices are not just reasonable, they’re competitive. One thing you’ll notice right off the bat is that Evan is as passionate about these cars as he is experienced and knowledgeable, and it shows not only in the quality of his work but also the professionalism and friendliness with which he runs his business.
I first brought my 09 BMW 328xi to Evan last year for an alignment and additional work my local dealer adamantly insisted I needed that wasn’t covered by BMW’s warranty. The dealer quoted me almost $ 2k to have the additional work performed at BMW. Evan performed the alignment at a very competitive rate, but after thoroughly inspecting my car, determined I didn’t need the expensive work the dealer was trying to push, though he could have very easily reaped a nice profit by just performing it anyway; I would have been none the wiser. These guys are honest and up front.
During that visit, Evan also took the time to discuss the pros/​cons of a third party warranty I was considering purchasing as my CPO extended warranty and service plan was about to expire. I was concerned about the potential cost of upkeep now that everything would be out of pocket; these cars are not cheap to maintain and horror stories abound. I ultimately decided not to get the third party warranty as the cost/​value analysis did not weigh in my favor given Performance Autowerk’s affordability and expertise, which is far more valuable than the under-​inclusive warranty I was considering.
I have since been back to Performance Autowerk for routine maintenance and I simply can’t say enough good things about these guys. In addition to the above, they are friendly, courteous and the office is clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Like another reviewer said, this place should be in your phone. They are my go-​to when I need honest, affordable expertise to keep my BMW in top shape.

I just got some Bilstein B14 PSS coilovers installed on my MK6 GTI here. (I bought the coilovers on my own).
The staff I dealt with — Rich and Evan — were great. They were very professional on the phone and gave me realistic estimates of what the price would be and how long it would take.
Their price was much lower than the quotes I got from other shops, plus they even threw in a free alignment, which is awesome.
When I walked into to my appointment, Rich already knew who I was and was ready to get info from the car to get it ready for the service.
The car was done exactly when they said it would be, and they did a great job with the install.
One of the coolest things about this place is that it is literally less than half a mile from the West Dublin BART station, so I was able to take the BART back home while I waited for my car to be finished and back to the shop when it was ready. So convenient, especially because I live a bit far from the shop.
Will definitely be back!

I hit a pothole over the weekend and after the incident the radiator light came on. I popped up the hood and coolant was gushing down from the radiator.
First thing that came out of my mind was «the radiator is cracked» and second thing that I thought was…“man, this is going to be costly!“
Luckily, I called these guys and I spoke to Evan. Over the phone Evan said it has to be something else because BMW radiator are hard to crack.
Took in my car and in less than 1 hour, Evan called me to let me know it was a damaged hose. Wheew… from thinking I was going to spend close to a grand, the damage was a few hundreds to fix. What a relief!
What I liked about these guys (Evan in particular) was the honestly and the friendliness! You don’t find those around that often. Really cool guy and let me know upcoming things to look for since my car will hit the 10 year mark next year.
This shop has a new customer as long as I live around this town and you bet I will be referring my friends and family to this place!

Performance Autowerk did an excellent job fixing my 2012 Audi S5. They went above and beyond and notified me of sketchy work that was previously done by Audi of Oakland. I’ll definitely come back.

Evan is the best! This was my second visit. Rarely can I say I love bringing my BMW in for service, but I truly do at Performance Autowerk. They are quick, efficient, fair, personable and knowledgeable. His shop is also very convenient to BART if you need to get into SF while they work on your car.

Amazing staff and an extremely pleasant experience from start to finish.
I brought in my C350 with a couple aftermarket parts and an idea for a custom quad exhaust set up. Carl and Evan helped me get an idea of the necessary work, referred me to a local exhaust shop for the mufflers/​tips, and worked with me to schedule a time to get my diffuser installed.
I brought in my aftermarket carbon fiber diffuser and early on in the installation process, it became painfully obvious that the part was not manufactured with proper fitment (cheap ebay part). The guys at Performance Autowerk wrestled with the not-​so-​perfect diffuser and got it to fit perfectly! They created custom brackets and drill locations to ensure my diffuser would not fall off some time in the future. Their attention to detail was the most impressive part – they even painted the exposed rivets in black to match the diffuser!
The install took longer than originally quoted and they only charged for the additional custom brackets they had to create. The friendly staff, their knowledgeable expertise, and no-​nonsense price got me hooked. I am definitely coming back here for any modifications or maintenance in the future.

Called looking for a new mechanic and I have found one! After reading all the great reviews, I had to see for myself and they didn’t disappoint. I called several times with questions regarding my Landrover LR2 and each time I called I spoke with Evan and he was patient and personable with all the questions I had. I took it in for a standard maintenance and they exceeded my expectations.

Evan at Performance Autowerk has been awesome! Having put myself through college as a light mechanic, I can smell when someone is upselling or misleading me. That never happens here. He’s done a great job keeping my 2008 328i up and running, and even went out of his way to save me a ton of dough by fixing a problem inexpensively when the BMW dealer wanted to go full disassembly and diagnostic baloney.
I give this shop my highest recommendation.

I would like to thank and recognize Evan and Matt for doing a great job installing my KW height adjustable spring for my 2011 M3. Evan and Matt were very professional and detailed. Evan gave me a 20% discount for being a BMW club member. During the install they gave me updates as well as did not charge me any extra knowing that the work was actually more expensive than it actually was given the difference of work required for a regular spring vs a height adjustable one. They completed the lowering install to a tee and did as I requested. I highly recommend this shop for any BMW enthusiast out there. The work is phenomenal and the price is very reasonable.

I checked out Performance Autowerk after reviewing their 5 stars ratings from Unilocal’s review, and came to Evan for an emergency service on my BMW with coolant leaks. My coolant lost was about a quart of coolant each week without any trace of leakage anywhere on the bottom of the car. Because there are no traces of fluid on the floor, I kept insisting to Evan when I first brought my car in that the leakage was possibly due the valve gasket leak… or perhaps the coolant might get into the engine oil. Within just 10 seconds of arriving at his shop and inspecting my car, Evan was able to determine the root cause of the leak. It actually came from the lower section of the radiator. However, there was no fluid on the ground due the catch tray which captured all the fluid. That’s just how amazingly knowledgeable Evan is when it comes to German cars! He saves me a tons of money which I know I will pay if taking my car to the dealership. This place is build upon the following statements: integrity, quality, passion of German engineering, honesty, attention to details and friendly service. Despite all the hard work and his hectic schedules, Evan was able to check my car in as soon as I called and service was done within the same day (replacing the radiator and all hoses… almost all the front end coolant related part are placed brand new within the same day). WOW! Not to mention his pricing is absolutely reasonable. I can only sum up my experience at Performance Autowerk as %110 satisfied. The crew here are very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable with German cars. He takes pride out of each and every vehicle he services, and it shows through his super clean, well-​kept shop. Each and every one of his crews is friendly and respectful. I now no longer have to deal with those «consultants» at the East Bay Dealership who would give me a run around. I normally change oil and service my own brakes and other minor jobs non related to engine for all of my cars. This is not because I can’t afford to bring it out for service, but because I hate the sloppiness of the work done at the dealers, and have not trusted any of the shop around here… but after coming to Performance Autowerk, it completely changed my perspective and I now found a place that I can completely have confident that they will pamper my car the way I wanted. Evan is truly a gift and a breath of fresh air to our East Bay German Car enthusiast community. He really deserves all the 5 stars in Unilocal

I initially called with an inquiry about getting an oil change and transmission fluid service on my 2010 VW GTI with DSG. Evan immediately knew what I was talking about and gave an estimate that was reasonable for the work. I was relieved to hear someone on the other side of the phone who did not need me to explain what a DSG was or caused me to worry whether the right spec fluid/​filter would be used. It was clear this was a familiar service. The car was out for a day and the bill was on target with the estimate with no fuss or surprises.
This is actually the first time I’ve written a review on Unilocal — and it’s for a deserving business. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with Evan and entrust him with my vehicle. He’s professional yet friendly and is truly passionate about cars and performance vehicles. I spent more time dropping off and picking up my car than I had planned, because it was so fun to talk shop with him and I lost track of time. I will definitely be looking to return if I need maintenance on, repairs, or modifications to any car whose performance I care about.

Had to get the wheels aligned and had a few bad services with my current mechanic, so i Unilocaled around to see if i could find a new spot. Found Performance autowerk and Evan was amazing. He definitely was very knowledgeable about working on European cars and very open to sharing his knowledge with the customers. Might have just found our new mechanic for the family. Seriously. If you have a BMW and need service this number should be locked in your phone. I just had some major «open heart» surgery on my E39 540i. Evan really knows the ins and outs of how these cars really work. This is an honest business and by far an honest owner. I can’t express my thanks enough. I am happy with my car and the suggestions he came up with to make my car run as smooth as it was when it was new. I have FINALLY found an honest business that I can trust with my BMW with and a new friend!

Found a BMW I was interested in buying so again I looked to Unilocal for someone in the local area who knew German cars. I came across Evan at Performance Autowerks and he was very happy and flexible to take a look at it the following morning.
The first thing I noticed about Evan and his shop is that he takes great pride in his work. His shop is very clean and he took the time and effort to create an appealing brand for his company. After the seller dropped the car off, Evan and I immediately went for a test drive. Just the way he was talking about the car while he was driving it, I could tell he had an expansive knowledge of BMWs. He pinpointed several things he noticed right away along with information about things to consider when buying a BMW or other German cars for that matter.
When we got back, he raised the car up in his shop and did a full and thorough inspection. He pointed out the good and the bad as well as offering up preventative tips in the event I did buy the car.
Evan knows European cars and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him if you want someone who cares and also knows what they are doing. Definitely well worth the cost to do the inspection. I’ll be taking all my German vehicles to Evan in the future.

I fully recommend Performance Autowerk for any vehicle you own. I brought my 2002 Ford f250 Diesel to Evan, for a check engine light diagnostic and repair. Evan promptly called me the same afternoon and explained my issues and options. Performance Autowerk was able to offer me a few different options to replace my glowplugs and batteries and I am very happy with the work that was completed.
