Rock Solid

Rock Solid Inc. is an outstanding company that delivers a superb product and service. They truly have perfected the technology and art of concrete coating. They coated our driveway, front and side walkways, and our large back patio area. Raul was team leader on our project, and he worked with us to develop a pattern design that beautifully ties in with our house. We couldn’t be happier with the result. The coating was installed 20 months ago and is holding up very well. Like some other reviews, Ted sometimes responds and other times not. He was timely in coming out and estimating. We discussed several repair areas, and what I wanted done. His estimate said the deck would look like new. He offered a discount if they could start right away since they had another job in the neighborhood. There was some rain and they started about 3 weeks later. The day they were to start, Ted showed up on time, said his crew was right behind him. I had to leave an hour later and still no crew. My son was home and said Ted left and the crew, one guy, showed up. Their work is very uneven. Some repairs are absolutely excellent, I know they are there, but it was done so perfectly that it is not noticeable. One major repair, near the pool skimmer, I mentioned to the supervisor several times. I think he kept forgetting because it did the repair after the final coat of sealer had been applied. It is very noticeable, and not nearly the quality of some other repairs. I called them back to replace grout, which had been discussed with Ted, but the crew asked me why I didn’t remind them. Seems Ted never talked to them. The grout job seems to have been the wrong material. Went down ok, it was almost the right color, and now most of the grout joints are black from traffic. Final issue is pricing. The bid seemed high. I asked Ted how it was done and he basically said 3 or 4 man crew, working 3 or 4 days. I tracked the hours and only a few days were there more than one, and the total time was about half of what Ted intimated. This job was originally done by the predecessor to Liquid Coatings (all the guys ended up working there). They did one repair several years ago. I called them to get an estimate, and the woman owner said they were busy and the repair person couldn’t even return the call for several weeks. I never got a call. I would not recommend Rock Solid, or Liquid Coatings to anyone. I would look for another contractor with better, consistent, reviews. I also would make sure the contract is very specific what is to be done, and that some amount of the payment be withheld until you have a chance to thoroughly review the job, rather than making payment when the sealer is on, and it can not be walked on to inspect.

I have to say we were a little worried after reading the reviews but we really needed someone who knew what they were doing because our job entailed refinishing the limestone appearance on our pool decking and patio area that was over 10 years old. After meeting with a couple of contractors, we found most were not qualified to do the particular limestone finish we needed.
Ted, the owner of the company, came out the day after we called and we received a bid via email within 24 hours. The bid was a little more than we expected but we have a pretty large backyard with a pool, retaining walls, stepped lawns… Luis and his crew started last week and are just finishing up today and I have to say, «Wow»! We are absolutely amazed by the terrific job they have done!!! They are truly artists with color and technique! We are soooo pleased with their work and their work ethic. True professionals! Very highly recommend this company!

I wish I had looked here first after I received the post card in the mail. These guys may be good if they do the work but if you want to waste time waiting for a call back or an estimate, forget about it. How about just telling potential clients that you are busy and/​or can’t deal with a smaller project than a certain square footage? It took me two weeks to accept the fact that I didn’t make the cut and move on and try another company.

Their web site says they are in Dublin on Dougherty Road, but the phone numbers match so this is the same company; Rock Solid Inc = Coated Concrete.
The GOOD:
I called and set an appointment for an estimate, got a call to confirm the day before they came out.
The owner himself came out to bid the job and it turns out that we go to the same church and know a couple of the same people there. I felt this was a good sign and told him what we wanted to have done, and our time frame of a month or so to start. He stated that was a good amount to set up the job.
The BAD:
As he finished doing the measuring the concrete that needed to be refinished, I asked what kind of options they had for finishes /​pricing as we were on a budget and we were looking at him doing a big job in redoing our driveway, rear patio and joining walkways from the front, back and side yards. We needed to hear about our options, because we’d also want to redo the garage floor in a matching finish down the road. He said almost nothing to me other than «Check the web site for our different finishes.», and walked away. I was surprised and followed him to his truck asking what the next step was. He handed me a flyer and said he’d call in a couple of days with pricing, and drove away as I started to ask for more info.
Over two weeks went by and no follow up. I called and the lady that confirmed the appointment said she would talk with the owner, and was very sorry that «something» must have happened.
Two more weeks — same thing.
Two more weeks — I left two different messages on their answering machine.
The VERY BAD:
No response to date, AT ALL! I will update this review if I ever do hear from them
If the owner of a company wont be honest with you, even if to say they can’t, or don’t want the job, especially if you may run into him at church, what kind of business is he and his company going to do to you if you do not know him?
Obviously this company cannot be trusted.
