It’s a great neighborhood bar that everybody in Dubuque likes. The food is always top notch and huge portions. Free popcorn & basketball is always a plus. Drinks are normal prices but you’re never ordering something besides beer and basic mixed drinks.

Fat Tuesday’s is a nice neighborhood bar and grill that had been a mainstay for college students and local Dubuquers for some time. The menu is a notch up from «bar food». Known for their Cajun food and sandwiches but the menu does have many nice choices.
Tonight I had the Po’ Boy Deluxe which includes catfish, shrimp and sausage. Portions are generous and tasty. Can’t go wrong stopping in for cold beer, good food and taking a few shots at the BB hoop in the back.

It can get quite crowded at times, however, it is a great place to get a bite to eat or a few drinks. I always end up taking a ton of food home because the portions are so big. Stay away from the Bloody Mary if you are not a fan of horseradish, though.

We went to Fat Tuesday’s for happy hour on Thursday and it was pretty good. My burger and fries were really tasty and they had an ok (not great) selection of bottled and draft beers. Fortunately, they take visa, mastercard, and discover now– apparently this just changed last week. The server was very nice. She may have had a little trouble keeping up with such a large group (15 people-​ish) but that may have been the kitchen. Drinks were quick, checks were quick. That’s what really matters…

Known for their Cajun specialty and great drink specials, Fats is a university tradition for those down the street at Loras college. The place can get pretty crowded though, and getting around the pool table to hit the bathrooms can be a challenge. Overall, its a decent place to watch sports or grab a frosty mug.
