I’m writing an update to this. After contacting Mediacom about the service, i was informed that they were aware of issuss in the area and needed to upgrade their switching equipment, which was both older and had suffered some damage due to the extreme weather. This was done two weeks after my initial complaints. Since then I have had hardly any outages on my internet service. Kudos to Mediacom for being attentive and fixing the issue.

Now having had Mediacom as a «bundled service» provider in the Galena area for almost 3 years I’m continually disappointed with the internet service. It is intermittent at best. NOTE: I AM paying for the upgraded internet service. I’m tired of having the«robot voice tech» walk me thru getting the boost only to have it drop off(again) an hour, or, a day later. Today I spoke with an agent named Roz who told me that the earliest a tech would be able to come out IS in two weeks! I am getting some sort of credit. NOTE: each call with a rep, agent, or tech lasts about 15 – 20 minutes! Sad to say the only other provider is AT&T who now appears to be pullng out of the Galena area in that their service is even worse. WHAT’S ANINTERNETUSERTODO?
