This is a short hike along the edge of a cliff to a small waterfall that is the result of seeps from nearby Navajo Lake. It is not a bad one for families. Even though it is short, it is at a high altitude so be prepared to take breaks, as necessary, and carry some water. There are pit toilets available at the trailhead. It is accessed via Forest Road 054, which is the first road to the left once you have turned onto the road to Navajo Lake, just follow the signs. The road ends at the trailhead. It is a few miles on a relatively well graded dirt road. It might cause problems in bad weather. It looked like there might be better dirt road access via the road by the Duck Creek Visitor Center.

Cascade Falls is a small waterfall that can be reached on a short, fairly easy hike. The trail is well-maintained, has magnificent views, and has a couple benches along the way to rest on. Cascade Falls is a small waterfall coming out of a cave — it’s water coming from nearby Najavo Lake. Although it is possible to climb into the cave, be warned that the park service advises against it: oxygen levels drop rapidly and suddenly, and the hiker can black out and die. The waterfall can be viewed from a wooden platform just a few feet away. We chose to have our lunch there, and it was soothing and relaxing. Although there was no shade available on that platform, it was enjoyable nonetheless. Note that elevation is 9,017′. At this elevation, you will likely be prone to elevation sickness, and this includes fatigue(getting tired quickly), shortness of breath, and headaches. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the short hike. The trailhead can be reached by Highway 14 towards Navajo Lake, Duck Creek Village, UT. There was a sign stating«Cascade Falls». The trailhead can be reached in a sedan automobile — the unpaved road was fairly solid and wide. No SUV/truck was needed. GPS Coordinates for the Trailhead: Lat 37.49725, Lon 112.75173 N 37.49725, W 112.75173 37.49725, –112.75173 (Type the above coordinates into Google Maps, and it will show up.) The trailhead is at the end of the parking lot, on the right-hand side — same side as the restroom. Nearby Mammoth Cave was an adventure not to be missed. You can find my review for it on Unilocal also.
