Imagine if WalMart, Kmart, Target, and Big Lots get together for an end-of-year party every December. WalMart comes wearing a blue White Stag polo and dockers, talking about rollbacks. Kmart brings along Sears, and no one is really sure who wears the pants in their peculiar relationship. Target comes in a red sport jacket and brings pizza and popcorn for everyone. Big Lots is late and shows up in a tweed jacket, two mismatching socks and carrying a 12 can case of mixed peanuts(expiration date next month.) This can give you an idea of where Big Lots stands among other department stores. Big Lots is all about adventure shopping. This means that their inventory changes over the weeks, and if you bought something here once, you may not find it here again. This store is fairly new in Dudley(less than 5 years, I’d venture to say) and pretty well kept. I always like to peruse the dry foods and beverage aisles because there is always something interesting for dirt cheap. Lots of organics and health foods available as well. And mixed nuts, discounted, expiring next month. Almost always cheaper than other big box retailers, but never failing to have a plethora of weird stuff they just couldn’t sell anywhere else… I love Big Lots. It’s home.

OK, I admit it. I miss not living five minutes from the store anymore. I still read their circulars and scour the sale items. Was just there today getting a jump on my Christmas shopping for the kids. I’d share but one of them visits this site regularly. Sorry Dude, no hints. They are like any other discounter. You need to stay alert and look for the deals. Thanks to the electronic age you can have their circulars sent via email. The one thing I will say is help is always easy to find here. No employees hiding in the stock room.
