I’ve become a fan of the drive-in/carhop burger places so when we discovered A & Dubs existed, I knew we had to stop there before taking in a local baseball game. Without much thought, I went with the Power House Platter. The burger was solid, the crinkle fries were well prepared(not too crunchy, not too soggy) and the root beer was great. My travel partner went with a burger, shake and onion rings. We had no complaints about the food. I even thought the prices were reasonable. It was busy when we arrived and we were unsure of any protocol for letting them know we were ready to order(I’ve been to some places where they ask you to turn your lights on when you are ready to order) so there was a wait before we one of the gals came to check on us. The building itself does look like it could use a make-over. A & Dubs was the perfect stop before a summer baseball game. I enjoyed the food and carhop experience. It just didn’t earn that 4th star.

The outside of this place is another West End eye sore. My son and I went and ate their about 6 years ago. Honestly the burger meat was about as tasty as something a government institution would serve. We both were disappointed. The Root Beer is good.

The root beer is probably the best I have ever had. The burgers, fries, and onion rings are solid.

The onion rings are great!!! This place should be open year round. Also the homemade bbq sauce is delicious!
A & Dubs is a local fixture in the West End neighborhood, serving up burgers and fries and«home-made» root beer in a retro-themed drive-in atmosphere complete with high school girls in ‘50s-era outfits(once on rollerskates, although that seemed to end a few years ago). They are only open in the summer, with their opening day being around Memorial Day and their closing day being around Labor Day. Their burgers, fries, and root beer are almost always excellent; what gives them three stars is the price increase over the years, which would not be so offensive if they did not shrink their portions. They aren’t outrageously expensive or anything, although they’re certainly not McDonalds. Nevertheless, their root beer is one-of-a-kind(order the gallon jug) and their barbecue and pizza burgers are also something special.
