I was quite impressed. The spaghetti Bolognese was not only beautiful, but equally as delicious. If you’re craving spaghetti, this is definitely what you want. It’s a little spendy, but highly worthwhile.

Big improvement in service! We have always liked the food but last summer had a couple of off-putting experiences with unpleasant vibe from the staff. Hostess was hopeless. But NOMORE. Tonight delightful hostess and server. Much better atmosphere and they continue to have good food

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Long wait no matter when we go but worth it. Food is wholesome, fresh, staff is so friendly and helpful in ordering Gluten Free food for kids with celiac disease-and best of all? They keep the food separate and the kids don’t get sick. This is a place we can go to eat without taking a gamble on whether or not it will make the kids ill. Also, the Gluten free bread is out of this world. It’s actually sandwich bread size, it isn’t brittle, and it tastes great!

Best kept secret in Duluth. Great food and service. A haven for locals that want to escape the hordes of tourists in the summer. Highly recommended.

Food is bland and overpriced. Service is fairly good and there are many friendly folks here.

Stopped for breakfast on our way back to the Cities from the North Shore. Best pancakes we’ve ever had, hands down. They’re served with maple mascarpone that’s buttery smooth with a touch of tang. The cake itself is on the thin side but substantial with a slight crispness around the edges. They also make a mean chai latte, perfect poached eggs, and very good coffee.

The food is pretty good, although some of the specials seem to be trying to hard with the long and arduous list of ingredients that don’t really meld together. The curry is great, and their hippy farmers breakfast is also wonderful. However, the service is lacking. Always. I’ve never eaten here and had even average service. It seems to be a bit of a popularity contest between staff as well, and doesn’t seem to be benefiting the patrons at all. Slow drinks, even slower food, and an uninterested staff on top of it all. We go with some regularity, but it sure as heck isn’t for the service.

Really cute café and awesome food! I had the stuffed pancake with raspberries and almonds with a side of ham. It was all delicious!!! The staff was friendly and efficient. Definitely will be going back next time I’m in town.

I used to come here 3+ times per week. For the last 4 years I stopping going here for two reasons: Th first was a breakfast that took 2 hrs after I got seated, on a Sunday which screwed up my day. The second was quality vs price of the food, price kept going up and simultaneously the quality kept going down. They fixed the time issue today. I always order the breakfast burrito. From 4 yrs ago to today, the potatoes now totally overpower the recipe, what happened to the onions and peppers? Also, there is now only 1 side of beans vs beans + potatoes before. Up the price by a quarter and give both.

Despite the fact we had a Sunday drive to Chicago ahead of us, we stopped in with our dog for a late afternoon brunch. How could we resist when Duluth was offering us an almost 80 degree day in mid-October and Sara’s has a deck to revel in the sunshine? Wisconsin traffic could wait for us! The table wait was a bit longer than advertised(closer to 40 than 20 minutes), but we quickly forgot that as service was swift and even brought a bucket of water out for our panting pup. The food came quickly too – he had the breakfast burrito and I had the hippie veggie hash. It was so delicious – the freshness of the ingredients was obvious, and it was satisfying without being too filling, fatty or otherwise. The interior really is cute – would like to come back sometime without the pup in tow. Can’t wait to find ourselves up north once more so we can visit again.

Oily oily oily food. This is diner food with a pretty label on it. My dish looked like a kid threw some food on a plate, i.e. not appetizing. Honestly I was surprised. My hippie veggie hash(made vegan using peanut oil) thing had almost no veggies, bummer. I took a bite of my toast and it smelled like bacon. Man, I just wasn’t winning at this place. My friends ordered the english muffin breakfast sandwiches and enjoyed those. They also ordered the mickey mouse pancake with chocolate chips with two different flavors of real maple syrup. I’m glad they enjoyed their food though. This place had a cozy cool vibe to it and it was very bright inside with a pretty view of the lake, but I just wasn’t digging the greasy oily diner-esque food.

The locals dine at Sara’s table. I’m a tourist and crept up in there anyway. My boyfriend and I were staying at a friends place nearby. We walked over on a cool night with our dogs and sat on their patio. The patio is dog friendly so we tied them to the railing and let them stare at us and drool all over the place. There was plenty of open seating on the patio but we still had to wait almost 10 minutes before we were seated. It’s a rectangle shaped deck patio. Nice quiet spot. I never went inside but it looked really cozy from what I could see through the window. The menu has some Asian influences which was surprising, there were some dishes with kimchi. I wasn’t expecting that for this American style café with pancakes and muffins. We ordered the corn and poblano roasted chowder, kimchi bowl because I felt like I needed to see how it was done here, and the steak frites. The soup was uneventful and it wasn’t hot, more like lukewarm. I was hoping for an explosion of flavor based on the servers description. The kimchi bowl also lacked flavor. Kimchi always has a punch, but the rest of the bowl with the noodles was really bland, I had to drench it in soy sauce. This was my fault. I’m Asian I should know better then to order this here. The steak frites was okay. We ordered the steak medium rare. It was more on the rare side. Normally this isn’t a huge deal but it was chewy and had an irony taste. The fries were extremely oily. The chimichurri sauce was good. We also tried the strawberry rhubarb pie and a chocolate fudge cookie. If the pie was warm it would have been a hit, but it arrived cold. Our friends told us we could have asked for them to warm it before serving. I wish our server had asked about that. The cookie was fine. I’d come here again for the atmosphere. I liked my Moscow mule. I think the dishes we ordered had potential. I’d try other safer dishes on the menu like pizza or the sandwiches.

Great deck and service. Food we ordered was solid, but overpriced for what it was. We had the egg thing dish with bacon($ 13), which was basically an English muffin breakfast sandwich, and oatmeal. $ 1 extra for 1 sliced strawberry. There are probably way better things to order. We wished we had tried the burrito and veggie burger.

Such a cute little spot! Bustling in the early AM(approx 8am is when we went) so budget at least 30min for a table. Coffee is self serve, the portions are large, OJ fresh. Let me tell you about their sausage patties? They aren’t your regular microwave patties– these patties looked hand patted, each bite was juicy and had that distinct breakfast sausage flavor that was overwhelmingly delightful. Get it. You will be happy.

There was like 12 Subaru’s in the parking lot, so they have that going for them. Other wise the food is really good.

I’m sold. It’s great the view is great. With this view of Lake Superior, cardboard might taste good. Had the Hippy Breakfast just because of the name. I don’t know what made it hippy, but it was good. Wife had an omelet. It was very tasty. Meal came with a real good toast and home made jam. Coffee was great. Ah, but that view!

Near the UMD campus is a friendly cozy healthy menu restaurant in a quiet Duluth neighborhood that is elevated enough for lake views. The signage doesn’t stand out from the street so I found the phone GPS was correct when it told me I’m right on top of the place and I couldn’t see it from the car window and drove another two blocks looking. The coffee is serve yourself and I found the darker roast super charged. Lets call it a touch too strong even for me, but I still enjoyed the sipping so I’m not complaining. We waited about three minutes to be seated even though the place was three-quarters empty during the waning breakfast serve time. I had the Peasant Eggs and helped my wife finish the Breakfast Burrito. I must say there are a lot of tasty creative ways to prepare Black Beans that Sara’s creative culinary staff has discovered. The portions are huge, especially the burrito, and the right amount of spice so that there is a kick without the after burn.

I have always enjoyed going to Sara’s Table for their tasty pancakes and cozy atmosphere. Stopped in here on a Sunday morning and the place was empty so we got seated immediately. I have always gotten the specialty pancake because you can choose two fillings that they bake INSIDE the pancake! It is so delicious and filling! I always get banana and strawberry, and it is a very refreshing breakfast. They have a good variety of fillings so my whole group each got a pancake but with different fillings. The prices are a little scattered: specialty pancake is only $ 7.50(good deal) but the omelets, burritos, and sandwiches are bit more pricey around $ 13. I really like the big wooden tables and beams and our server was very friendly. It is a nice, cozy spot I like going to for breakfast.

It took 2 hours and $ 50 to get a ham sandwich and poorly made omelet. They told us no soup, then told the next table over that soup is available. We never got a smile out of the waitress. WTF is wrong with the Duluth dining scene? I haven’t been to a decent restaurant yet, it’s a bunch of low-rent restaurants and tourist crap and poor service. You want Applebees to take over? Keep up the bad work.
