Krav Pro

Great operation at Krav Pro. I’ll break this review into 4 categories, Training, Staff, Environment & Kids program.
Training (adult) — classes are fairly intense. Some more than others & the kickboxing is a fantastic 1 hour workout focusing on mainly on cardio. Krav Maga itself is very practical & anyone, not just athletes, is able to practice it & then take it straight home to use it if needed. Krav is extremely practical & easy to implement.
Staff– The instructors are fantastic. They are well trained & continually train themselves to be better instructors. All are highly ranked belt wise & are known throughout the Krav system as being among the best Krav instructors there are.
The rest staff is fantastic and a very well run business. They are also very honest & honorable ppl that want to treat customers right.
Environment– The other students are all over the board. Male & female ages (adult program) 12−70+. The other students are usually very welcoming & will introduce themselves.
Kids program– I have a little less experience with the kids program but I know the program is fantastic. Krav Pro integrates character traits into their weekly lessens. Our daughter would often talk about «self discipline» & «fitness» which are 2 of the traits Krav Pro covers. The instructors are also top notch & outstanding w/​kids.
I’ve been training here for 2 years & still can’t get enough!

Richard and his crew at Krav Pro are true professionals. I’ve worked with Krav Maga instructors from all over the world and their ability to transfer knowledge is second to none. Richard has actually trained a few of my instructors and they all learned a tremendous amount from him. I would send any student, instructor, or family members of mine to Krav Pro for self defense instruction.

When I first walked into Krav Pro, I was shy, nervous, and completely unaware of what I was walking into. After my free trial class which was actually kickboxing, I was instantly addicted. I ran home to convince my husband that I needed this in my life. A few weeks later I joined, and wanted to train all the time, 5 days a week, sometimes twice in one day. I felt great, and was getting in great shape as well as learning key self defense techniques that would help get me home safe. 3 years later I still enjoy training as much as that very first class!
My daughter also attends the junior Krav kids program and absolutely loves it. In the past year I have watched her learn and grow into a confident and competent young little lady (age 7). My youngest is 4 and from watching her sister, cannot wait until she is able to join the kids program as well.
If you are looking for a place to get in shape and learn great self defense that ANYONE can learn and use this is a great place to come! Sign up the whole family and be confident that if anything were to happen, your family could confidently defend themselves!

My rating is based on the service provided by this place, not how the classes are. So please, skip this review if you want to know about what kind of physical workout you’ll get.
I wanted to sign my girlfriend up for self-​defense classes, and this place is very close to her. It was ideal, since it was close and I’ve heard Krav Maga is amazing for self-​defense. I signed her up for the free class online. She got an email about the class, but no date/​time scheduled. I called them about 3 times, nobody ever picked up or called back (yes I left messages). Unfortunately, I don’t live in GA so I couldn’t go in. I called my gf and asked her to go in and figure out what they need…
My gf called about 5 times, nobody ever picked up or called her back. She finally went in one day to actually schedule the class. She said «they said it should be next Wednesday, but they’re going to call to confirm»… fast forward a week and a half later, nobody ever called her to follow-​up, nobody ever called either of us back, no correspondence whatsoever.
I’ve been to several martial arts studios, yoga studios, gyms, everything… EVERYBODY calls you back. Even if they’re packed to capacity, they call you back and tell you. I’m sure this place will come over their busy days and all of sudden start harassing her to join… I’d stay away from them.

Took a quick trip out to the ATL to visit a friend recently. It seems every time I talk to my buddy he is either on his way to Krav or coming home from it. With that said I was still surprised he would take me to his workout while I was visiting.
The first thing that stood out was how friendly and positive the workout environment was. Instructor puts you at ease so you feel comfortable asking questions even though I was just visiting. Gym seems to be filled with people looking to learn, workout and not a bunch of meatheads looking to be next UFC contender. The workout itself was challenging but you’ll feel good afterwards.
If I ever move to Atlanta I know where I’m working out. If you live in the area or are getting ready to make some new year’s workout resolutions you owe it to yourself to come by and check out this place.

My son has been going here for two years. Wonderful kids program! Great way to build self confidence in my son. Ron Hilley is the best of the best and the kids respect, love and enjoy his caring yet firm techniques. I can tell he loves what he does and helping the kids learn how to handle a street bully, an attacker or any adverse situation. The staff is super friendly and this year at Halloween they set up a mini haunted house to let the kids and adults test what they’ve been learning on padded attackers.

They have great instructors! In addition to being great in their personal practice, all of the instructors are truly skilled teachers at every level. I have seen them work with athletes and people that are out of shape and they effectively teach them real Krav Maga. Even from the very first class I was taught practical things I could use right away.
The facility is great. There are multiple rooms for various levels of training and even a «scenario» room. They have padded floors and plenty of punching bags for everyone. The facility is spacious and kept clean.
I appreciate things they do for the community like specialty woman’s self defense workshops. My wife and co workers attended one of them. They thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot. They all felt very confident about what to do in a bad situation.
In summary it is a great place I would recommend.

The sign on the building reads «Krav Maga» and the Krav Pro cannot be read from the road. I had a meeting with the owner, and now will be signing up for a class.
I have been looking for a way to get in shape (as my wife will no longer accept that «Round is a Shape» as an answer) that I would enjoy and not HATE going to do.
I met Richard the owner a few weeks ago, and then went to talk with him at the gym, Loved it! I got to talk with a few of the people there and everyone had GREAT things to say, so I will be going back to take some classes and will update my review with more details as I finish a few classes.

I’m a big Krav fan, as it can make for great exercise and provides for effective tools in the self-​defense toolbox. People of all sizes and women and children alike can participate and feel better about their abilities.
This school continues to evolve and flow with the times and as the owner/​head instructor determines how he feels to best run his establishment.
If you are looking for a great workout and you want to start learning some basic self defense, I stil highly recommend Krav Maga and this school is certainly an option to explore.
Over the 3+ years I have trained here, I have seem many changes, some good, some not so good.
Students seem not to have the focus placed on them and their training as they may have in the past; and students are advancing much sooner than the original classes were allowed to. However, once you advance beyond the majority of the population training, attention given to those students seems to have dissipated even further. Level 4, for example, only has one class per week currently and little attention is given to those students. It’s tough to see some students advance much faster than you were able to knowing they haven’t trained nearly as long or as hard, while emphasis on your training seems to maybe have taken a back seat. And believe me, I need the training too.
It’s all a business and money thing. I get it; but the student (customer) still needs to be weighed into the equation, especially those that have stayed with the school and want to train, advance and be taken seriously. Fundamentally, there is a difference between a genuine interest to run a school in order to train those interested in the training and running a school to make money with training being the main attraction.
Social media updates have ceased. Newsletters no longer go out. Emails and phone calls have stopped and even students whose time to re-​up has passed without follow up. It seems to be more about the business now than the students or the training really.
I am one of the students who have been with this school for the longest at this point. I only update my rating now after some time passing and thought, as I no longer feel confident providing the 5 star rating I once would have.
Again, Krav Maga is fantastic and this school still focuses on strictly Krav Maga; but I fear the training and care for the students has declined over time. I hope the customer and the training become the focus; and the movement towards a Krav Maga factory stops.

UPDATE! My husband has finally been able to join me at Krav Pro to take classes. We don’t always end up working out together, but it is so fun to discuss the Krav Maga techniques! We are getting in the best shape of our lives while learning how to defend ourselves against aggressive attacks, guns and knives.
I definitely recommend Krav Pro to any and everybody! A great workout, confidence booster and a potential life saver!

Don’t drink the kool-​aide.
While the staff if more so than pleasant and the facility is nice, the positive feedback stops there. I’m sorry, I don’t like giving negative reviews, but I can’t recommend this place. Don’t trust any «martial arts» gym that allows its members to wear their street shoes on the training mats. The reason isn’t for tradition, its for being sanitary. Strike one. Knocking other martial arts for not being for the «street», strike two. You’d be better off buying the taebo DVD set then taking this place seriously. The class I took felt like it should have been at a Bally’s or LA FItness, marketed for sweating and not self-​defense. There are certain fundamentals that you shouldn’t ignore. Strike three. Teaching people stance or any semblance of footwork isn’t important is a mistake in my opinion. Not teaching people how to «punch» and then telling them to «punch» with no hand or wrist protection is just injury waiting to happen. Unfortunately, this «gym» screams «McDojo». Martial Arts gyms in Atlanta are a dime a dozen, there’s practically one on every block. They’re all in the same price range, give or take. Its all about the individuals preference, not that one is better than the other and is the only one to go to. It’s which ever one is best for you, try a few before you start drinking anybodys kool-​aide. If you want a martial art for the «street», take up IPSC or IDPA. Better yet, add your local PD to your speed dial.
