i’m not sure how new this place is, i don’t believe it’s been there for a year. i’m actually surprised i’m the first to review this place. i’m still pretty new to peruvian food. i’ve been to one place in durham, nc which was pretty good. this place was a little different. although they do have the traditional peruvian rotisserie chicken, most of their menu is mexican food: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. from what i understand, what makes this place peruvian is their rotisserie chicken, yucca, and fried plantains. i had to order the rotisserie chicken for the«authentic» peruvian taste. i substituted yucca instead of fries(cause face it, when you’re eating peruvian, you want yucca, not fries). i was with a huge group(~20−25) so our food took a loooooong time plus there were many messed up orders. i think there was only one cook. many other people ordered the lomo something. it’s the grilled steak and onions over fries with rice which someone who had been here before said was very popular and good. the lomo something was not all that impressive. really? fries AND rice? it would have been a lot better without the fries. the fries cooled off really quickly and just didn’t fit with the steak and rice. the steak was average i’d say. you’re not missing out if you don’t order this dish. my rotisserie chicken was quite tasty. very juicy and tender and the herbs and spices on the skin were excellent. the yucca was good, average yucca. it was a lot better than the fries in my opinion. i also got to try someone’s empanada which was filled with chicken i believe. it was pretty good. it wasn’t too greasy and didn’t have that much of a deep fried taste which i liked. i’d say if you come here, order the chicken. probably the best thing to order from the looks of what other people ordered. one last note, they have a sanitation grade of 100, but ironically, right next to their posted sanitation grade paper were three dead cockroaches hangin’ out. pretty gross. makes you wonder how they got that 100 grade. but if that doesn’t stop you from eating here, it’s a good intro to peruvian.
