I enjoyed this event, even though the instructor thought the monkey I painted was a mouse. But that’s just silly. Why would a mouse be in a tree? It was fun to paint in a judgement-free zone. Most of the attendees hadn’t painted anything since grade school, and I was among them. But the friendly facilitators and free-flowing booze helped to relieve anxieties. Everyone seemed to have a really good time, even if they went completely off the rails and painted something that in no way resembled the tutorial. Thanks to Heidi and intern Sarah for the snacks, candy and beer/wine. My apologies to the other attendees for eating about half the entire bowl of French onion dip.

This was my first Unilocal event/first night out since having my little girl and it was really fun! I’m not artsy at all but the instructor was so great that my painting turned out pretty decent. The first thing my husband said to me when I got home was, «Where’d you buy that painting?». Beer and wine were served at the event along with a variety of snacks. Thanks for the great event Heidi!

I loved this event! We had lots of snacks and wine to keep us happy while we got busy painting. I’ve really gotten into painting lately, but I’m crappy at it. So I just do my own thing when I go to these types of places. I usually get weird looks from people, but not here. The instructor encouraged us to not stress and do what we want. The instructor did a great job walking all of the other people through the various steps of constructing the painting. I got to about step 2 and then decided to do my own thing. Everyone else ended up with these really cute Halloween paintings. Everyone put their own touches on their painting and I loved seeing everyone’s creativity come out. There were about 40 of us at the event. There were a lot of new faces there so it was very cool to meet a few new people. Thanks for putting on such an awesome event, Heidi! And thanks to Pinot’s Palette for being awesome hosts!

I am so glad I cam to this Unilocal event! I would never have found this place otherwise, and it’s so close to home! Heidi did a terrific job organizing this event. And what a fun, creative event it was! Cute studio with an enthusiastic instructor there to lead us every step of the way. I am no artist, but when I left, I felt very proud of what I had created. One of my friends asked me if I traced it! We all were set up at long tables, and placed in front of blank canvases with four different colored paints to work with. There are aprons provided so you don’t ruin your clothes and a place to store your personals. They had wine, beer, and appetizers for us. How fun to create while enjoying a glass of wine! I brought a girlfriend, but next time will bring my husband. If you want to try something out of the box, go! It was a great experience!

This event brought Unilocal to a new level for me, Its one thing to go to a bar, or brewery(which I love, don’t get me wrong) but this was 40 of us I believe, all sitting down together in a new different setting, to paint(id love to do a UYE at all fired up) a spooooooky piece of art! I will be the first to say I am no van gogh, and I have come to terms with that, but I am always willing to give it the old college try and hope for the best! We walked in and there were rows of tables with canvas’s and stools, as everyone trickled in there were lots of snacks and beverages, Soon we all took a stool, The instructors were introduced, and Heidi spoke and thanked Pinots pallette for having us. Then we got started, They make it seem so easy. we started with the back round, and it all goes in stages. Daniel took really good pictures showing the process. They give the instructions, then go over it again, turn up the music and walk around to help where needed, but still encourage you to use your own ability with a little verbal direction. with a couple breaks in between, its amazing how fast the picture comes together. within a couple hours we were adding the final touches, taking the class photos, and cleaning up. Its so much fun to walk around and even though each one of us did the same picture, not a single one is the same. We were all given the same picture to pain, but then your inner bob ross comes out and inspires you to add your own personal flare. Cant wait to do this again. And this location has some of the prettiest paintings … we will definitely be returning.

Alright, so I am definitely not an artist but being here at Pinot brought out the inner artist in me. Heidi is awesome at creating great Unilocal events! There were about 40 of us in a class for about 2 hrs long. We ore aprons to protect our clothes. Blank easels were set up for our adventure in painting. Another interesting aspect to this was that there were snacks and drinks. The theme of Pinot is Eat. Drink. Paint. It seems it is very fitting. I could go on and on about what we did but the pictures really do it justice. They have different pictures and events you can join to paint particular images. This time it was a «Spooky, Halloween» theme. I must say I think I did pretty well for not being an artist!

What a fun and different Unilocal event. Heidi continues to think up new and interesting things for us to do and it’s nice that it involves engaging activities other than just hanging out, eating and drinking. Last night at «Paint, Drink, and Be Spooky,» we took a painting class at Pinot’s Palette in Johns Creek. There were about 40 of us in the approximately 2-hour class. We painted a Halloween-themed piece under the guidance of Pinot’s Palette instructors while sipping on wine and partaking in light bites, which included cheese and cured meats. We donned artist aprons to look the part and protect our clothes. Easels with blank canvases, paint(red, yellow, black, white), and brushes(one big and one small) were already set up and provided for us. This was the first time I’d taken any sort of art class since my 6th grade art class with Ms. Scott(yes, I still remember her name). This was also the first time I ever painted on canvas. It turned out to be a lot more fun than I expected. We tried to mimic a painting on the wall. It was a scene with a branchy tree in the foreground with some spooky houses against a burnt orange sky with a giant moon in the background. Also in the painting were a black cat on a branch looking towards the moonlit horizon and bats flying around. It was neat to see everyone’s unique painting styles and interpretations. Some stuck close to the original painting, such as Sarah G( ), while others took liberties like Brent H. and his monkey( ) and Vyvy T. and her tombstones( ). Tanya C. went to the extreme with her abstract painting: . Lindy F.( ) and Emily H.( ) both painted owls instead of cats. Kevin C. painted ghosts: . Heidi had the best moon halo and an awesome hidden message in her painting. See if you can find it: . Using my camera, I created a time-series progression of my painting: . You can see how we started with the background(sky and moon) and then added the tree, house(s), branches, grass, and finally animals(cat, bats). I sometimes like to watch videos online of artwork coming together, so it was nifty to be able to see something kind of like that with my own creation, especially since I’m not an artistic person. At the end of the class, Pinot’s Palette employees unveiled a special painting of the Unilocal burst. Each of us signed it with a Sharpie. Thank you, Heidi and Sarah, for organizing a very enjoyable evening. Big thanks to Joy H. of LeahAndMark & Co. for photographing the event. Also, thank you to Pinot’s Palette for inviting us in and showing many of us how to paint! I want to do it again.
