Worst ice cream in PA. The charming retro/old look made us stop. Big mistake. Tasted like plastic. The carhops were very friendly and the price was good($ 1.60 for a small cone); that’s as nice as I can be. Maybe the food is good… I’ll never know.

I had very good service with an old time feel of a drive in. Open seasonal. Good to visit on a Sunday.

When traveling through PA, it’s tough to find a fast food restaurant other than the major chains, especially when you don’t want to go too far off the route of your destination. The family was hungry and in need of a good quick meal. Luckily, Red Rabbit was exactly on the route so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Bunny Burger without pickles and a side of fries and I was impressed. They make their own sauce which kind of reminds me of the Big Mac sauce but much tastier. The veggies in the burger were fresh and the patty was cooked to perfection. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The family ordered a grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, and a chocolate milkshake, which were all delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. The only problem I have is trying to leave the venue. If you’re driving southbound, it will be tricky making a left out of the place because it is located on a very busy highway. BECAREFUL.

Driven by for years and finally stopped by. We had a black and white malt, fries, rabbit burger, cole slaw fish sandwich and everything was delicious fast with great service. Don’t judge the place on the bathrooms! Definitely understand why there are always crowds here! Well worth the trip!

Look, this is a drive-in. The few reviews that complained about food must not be familiar with the concept: good food(not high dining) quick. These are burgers and fries, better than McDonalds, but not like you’re getting at a place that boasts of their Zagat ratings. Regardless, for what it is, this place does it well. It’s old-school cool. Hanging tray on the window, burger in a paper holder, condiments slathered on. This is the kind of place in Happy Days or American Graffiti, and it fits the bill to a tee. The milkshakes are outstanding, and the service better than you would expect. Come here, expect the food to be what you’d expect from a joint like this, and enjoy it(the experience and the food)!

Love love love Bunny Burgers but you need the poppy seed roll! Fantastic burger, fries, milk shakes, chicken, and fish! Love the drive up concept. The wait staff are awesome. Been there a long time for good reason!

It was suggested by a local to visit the«notorious» Red Rabbit while camping in the area. Heard so many positive things by this person I admit my expectations were pretty high. I thought this place would be «Food Network — worthy». Armed with the address and directions we were determined we would definitely make a point to eat here even though it was a good 30 minute drive or so from where we were staying. We decided to hit it up when we were on our way home traveling on the opposite side of the highway. BIGMISTAKE! They are located on a very busy highway with a high trucking volume and the place was packed! We were traveling with a 28″ travel trailer attached so getting across the highway, and safely parked in the crowded parking lot was a bit of a challenge — and we had another vehicle following us to boot. Not sure of where to go or how to order one member of our party walked around the building to look for indoor dining, while I camped out at a picnic table in the lot. The couple following us stayed in their car waiting on my companions return. A waitress approached me to take my order which was a bit of a surprise as I didn’t assume outside was waitress service. She explained there is no indoor dining — either you get waitress service in the picnic area or at your car — using the old time method of food trays attached to the windows. Very cool! The whole place has a very 50 –60’s old time vibe. I placed our orders for the bunny burgers — a must order we would told, and a few other sides; fries, slushies, and a root beer float. I was disappointed that the menu seemed rather standard and frankly boring. Our bunny burgers came out and were delicious, although a bit on the small side, but cooked perfectly. Shredded lettuce, bacon, handmade patty, special sauce — what’s not to love? The price was $ 5. My husband ordered another — a double after seeing the size of the first and was disappointed that another patty added another $ 5 for a total of $ 10 — if you are a hardy eater don’t order a double, instead get two separate burgers for the same price. The rest of our order was so-so, fries were definitely frozen and not hand cut while the slushie and root beer float was nothing special. Our waitress however was a gem, as was the waitress of the other couple traveling with us, who explained the history of the restaurant. She also went on to say that her first customer of the day paid for the meal of the car beside her and it’s continued nonstop all day. The couple we traveled with were the fortunate receivers of the 16th consecutive pay it forward meal, and they continued by paying for the 17th. Overall a cute Americana place to stop if you are in the area and on that side of the highway. Kind of a been there done that place to talk about.

We can to the red rabbit for lunch with the family before heading to the zoo. As soon as we arrived a waitress came to our car window to give us menus. We were meeting up with family and had arrived early, the waitress came back after a while to check on us. Although it is a drive in, they have picnic tables set up outside with some cute little rides for the kids and some game machines. The kids sat on the rides while we waited for my brother to arrive; the staff were very sweet and put quarters in so they could ride. Once my brother arrived with my two nieces, all of the girls were gawking at the crane machine filled with bouncy balls and another staff member came over, opened the machine and gave each girl a ball in the color of their choice, the girls were thrilled! There were 13 of us in total and all of our food came out at the same time, there was only about a 10 – 15 minute wait time. My husband and I ordered the bunny burger, and it was good, the fries were crisp, and my daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese and apple sauce. They gave almost a whole cup of apple sauce, which is more than we usually get out. I’ll definitely have to try the milkshake next time. The prices were very reasonable and the menu, though small, had plenty of options for all. We’ll definitely come back next time we visit the zoo!

Americana and history. What is there not to love about and old fashioned car hop? The waitress are constantly moving and food is awesome at a fair price. Save room for the yummy sundaes. Would recommend Bunny Burgers over any chain restaurant.

After living here my whole life and never going to Red Rabbit, we decided to go yesterday. We both ordered a bunny burger and decided to split a fry. The bunny burger was amazing. The bacon was crisp, the bun was perfectly toasted, the burger was cooked to perfection. There is not a single complaint that I had about this place. I cannot wait to go back again!!! I am already craving a Bunny burger. Do yourself a favor and get extra bunny dust :-).

A fun, roadside drive in with charm. If you like dining experiences, this is certainly worth a stop. Kids and adults both enjoy the vintage feel, and there arent many other choices in the area if you are hungry. It is mostly just truck stops and porn shops on that road. I honestly didn’t prefer the burger – I got it as it came, and the«sauce» seems like just mayonnaise to me. It wasn’t bad, just not amazing as I hoped a little charming roadside greasy spoon would be. The servers were kind. Fries were hot. And, the milkshake was ok too. I felt like we annoyed the staff a little as we cannot turn the lights off in our car… and that is the signal for service!

I had wanted to go here for years. We stopped this year on Father’s Day our way home from a camping trip. I love Americana and showing my kids stuff that won’t be around when they get older. This one was a disappointment. I was surprised at the prices for a roadside joint – maybe because there limited days of operation or maybe I am cheap:-). Food was good, not great. I’ll only need to «check this box» one time…

Love the bunny burgers here! You can almost taste the bunny tears that are shed when they are slaughtered. Creates a unique, robust flavor that has no comparison.

I’m a big fan of Roadside Nostalgia, therefore my review get’s 4 stars. I can’t speak on behalf of the food as all We had were milk shakes. The milk Shakes where delicious, and the Red Rabbit had a cool feel to it that’s been somewhat forgotten in America. It’s cool to stop in just for the sole purpose of something different. As for the Price it was a tad high. but hey when you have wait staff running from car to car, and are only open for 3 days a week I guess you have to pull in the doe somewhere. Overall I will be back to try the food, and update my review.

LOVED this place! Super cute old school drive in. Perfect for a date night or just passing through town. The Bunny burgers are amazing. They use these poppyseed buns that are soooo good and like nothing ive had before. Be sure to try their vanilla coke! They use real vanilla syrup. And definitely as for extra ‘bunny dust’ on your fries! We like their pizzas too. Just a cute, fun hoppin spot with great food!

So, the food here is only so-so but it’s a cute and fun place. The car-side servers are friendly and prompt and they seem to have a good system down. My husband and I stop maybe once a year on the way to State College or western PA. Nothing changes from year to year. We tend to get the to get the pork BBQ. It’s a little on the dry side with no sign of sauce. Fries are okay and the sodas are expensive for the size(there doesn’t seem to be any free refills). When it comes down to it it’s a good place to take kids and a nice stop off if you want to try something novel. We go for the experience and not the great food. The Red Rabbit is a well run reminder of the past and it’s worth a stop if you’ve never been.

after a solid 3 years of testing my patience, I finally tried out the red rabbit. I had the bunny burger with no cheese and light sauce. as for the burger, it was rather small but perfect for me. the bacon was burnt but for some reason it went well with the sauce. the patty itself could use a little more seasoning but overall it was a satisfying burger. 5.25(cash only) for a burger the size of the middle of a whopper and whopper jr. but flavorful. it would’ve been amazing with the cheese and more sauce but i eat too healthy for all that.

We were out for a a Sunday Jaunt and decided to stop in at the Red Rabbit Drive-In. A quaint throw back to the days when the Hops were in style and the girls would deliver the meals to your car and place the trays on your window. We heard a lot of good things on the Red rabbit but to tell you the truth it’s all about the Nostalgia on this one. The Bunny Burger their Specialty of Ground Beef Patty, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Melted Cheese, Lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, onions their own sauce(which to me was coleslaw) on a Poppy Seed Roll for 4. 95 and and order of fries for 2.30 left a lot to be desired. The burger was barely warm when I received it the bacon even though it was thick cut was over cooked and was sitting the fries were cold. My wife ordered the Ham BBQ she said it tasted good and would have been better if it were hotter. The servers were all out hustling the place was packed with people the burgers were flying out like their was no tomorrow only problem I can see is was everything must be made well ahead of time and kept in warmers due to the fact that every thing was not hot. If your ever heading North on 322 just after you cross the Susquehanna and enter into Perry County and in the mood to eat a little Nostalgia stop in the Red Rabbit if you want a good burger or even a better burger that will hopefully be hot their is always the fast food Places like Burger King McD’s or WendY’s or Red Robin. The Red Rabbit won’t fill you unless your starving for the taste of Nostalgia
