Blown away by this place… pretty nostalgic spot! We are glad we came to this place!

Great custard! It is so creamy and dense that you get a faint taste of egg nog in every bite. I love the throwback style with only four flavors, and the place is spotless, nearing sterile, which is a good thing. Nice to see places like this doing well with a loyal, multi-generational following.

The custard gets 5 stars. Everything else is just bad. First, the parking lot in front was full so we pulled in behind Sheetz to be approached by a fake police officer making sure we were Meadow’s customs. He said something about how they own a certain part of the lot. Funny thing is, the«officer» was dressed in a Halloween costume and he was maybe 18 years old. Okay… the kids that work there are nice and the custard is great. However, you can see a scathing sign inside the building that says, «Stop using cups…». It’s must be nice that you have kids working for you. Adults probably wouldn’t put up with that awful signage in the workplace. Grow up, Meadows.

When I come to Altoona to visit family I have to come here! The ice cream is amazing and the staff is friendly.

Every single time. Great service, delicious custard in its many forms(milkshake, cone, dish). A great place to go on a warm day, even after a big lunch.

You’ve really got to see this place. It is as old school as they come. The place is a throwback(in the good sense of the term). You feel like you’re in a different, simpler era when you’re here. This location just has that vibe about it due to its age and with the way it is decorated. The custard is as good as it gets, and it’s probably the best custard I’ve ever had. They’re franchising now so I hope I can get one a bit closer to my neck of the woods one of these days.

As of right now, unfortunately you cannot get any ice cream at this location. They are in the midst of rebuilding. They tore down the old building and are putting up a brand new one set back away from the road since every time the road widens, less land is available out front. The miniature golf and batting cages will remain. With the new building there will be more parking spots. Until then, you will have to find one of their other locations to get some of there sweet creations.

This is a dangerous place when you live as close to it as I do. During the summer, my husband and I usually visit the Meadows weekly. The flavors are constantly changing and I’ve yet to have one I don’t like. My personal favorite is the chocolate peanut butter. Jammed packed full of flavor and swirls of real peanut butter. My favorite flavor during the fall is definitly the pumpkin. It seriously tastes like you are eating a slice of pumpkin pie.

I don’t have a broad knowledge of frozen custard, so I’m reserving judgement. But I do really enjoy the stuff that comes out of the machines at The Meadows. I’ll say that it’s better than the best soft serve ice cream I’ve had so far in upstate New York. At least, I’m pretty sure. The only way to know for certain would be to pit the two head to head. But I have been going out of my way to come up with excuses to get back to The Meadows. Today I finally tried their Orange Fluff, and my son generously shared a few sips of his strawberry milkshake. He’s a picky kid. These days he makes me ask if the strawberry milkshakes are made with real strawberries, and if they aren’t, he’ll drink something else entirely. The Meadows uses real strawberries, and the shake was speckled with tons of little bits of pulverized berries to prove it. It’s funny because in some ways it seems just a wee bit expensive. But on the other hand, they have a deal for kids that includes ice cream, mini golf and batting cages for $ 5. And that seems like a steal. My love for this place is growing. Their vanilla is better than their chocolate. The shake was better than the fluff(but the fluff was more refreshing). I really liked the daring pretzel and cream flavor of the day last week. Also, I can’t wait to try their sundaes. My son is looking forward to mini-golf and bating cages. So, we’ll be back here. Most likely a lot.

I am a big fan of custard over ice cream and The Meadows custard was sooo good and creamy! I had one of their mixed together creations with Reese’s pb cups and vanilla ice cream which was great! Their flavors change daily so I am looking forward to stopping back again and trying something else next time we pass by! It was a great break on I-80 across PA, as it is right off the highway.

You can’t go wrong with The Meadows. They have bright blue adirondack chairs to relax in while you enjoy your choice of tasty treat. $ 1 mini golf on Tuesdays. Try the hot fudge sundae.
