A nice change of pace to the typical tasting. You get a table and a cheese/cracker plate. The glass is complementary and they have wines from $ 9 to $ 60, something for everyone. Recommend dropping in and tasting. The $ 5 tasting fee is waved if you buy wine plus you get 2 tastings free if you check in, win win win! Oh yeah, the wines are good too :)

Really nice Vineyard. One of my favorites on Keuka Lake. They offer a complimentary snack sampling with the wine tasting. A tasting is $ 5 and includes the wine glass. I particularly loved their Rieslings, specifically the semi-sweet 2014 and the 2013 Riesling.

If you’re a fan of big reds, McGregor is a must! The Black Russian Red is a standout, but Rob Roy holds it own, and even their value-priced Highland Red is quaffable. Keuka Lake passport holders each get 5 wines to taste, so we chose four whites in addition to the 6 reds on the list and worked our way up to the big wines. To my knowledge, this is the only winery offering a seated tasting, and it was a true delight to sit in the fall sunshine sampling wines along with the complimentary snack plate. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and we found that over an hour had passed before we knew it. Pro tips: Avoid busy holiday weekends, and be prepared for outdoor toilets. Really. They’re working on installing a septic system, but for now your only option is porta-potties.

Wonderful experience on a lovely October Saturday. Kind and knowledgeable server. Beautiful location. We bought a varied case. Particularly liked the Black Russian red.

You’ve heard it right, the Black Russian Red is incredible. Such a great, dry red with a unique depth to it that you won’t find at any other Finger Lakes vineyard or winery due to these precious Eastern European grapes. I thoroughly enjoyed my tasting at McGregor’s. Should not have started out w/the infamous BRR though. Save the best for last, it ruined the chances any other wine had! For $ 60 a bottle, I’m not sure if it’s that good, but maybe some other time I’ll buy and age it, save it for a special occasion. Really liked their Gewurtz here too. Their white Sereksiya is also very good and balanced semi-dry. I love the coziness of the place and the fact that they make a lot of their own foods too. That pesto dip was yummy, they have a very-tempting and great gift shop.

Not my favorite winery in the area, you sit down at a table while you are tasting which is a bit of a pain. They do give you some finger foods to eat while you are tasting which is nice. The tasting room is pretty small, so you have to act like a grownup and not be overly loud or you will get some pretty nasty looks from the other, more mature parties in the room. The selections are great and the staff was very helpful.

Different than the other wineries. Sit down tasting with food and you keep the glass, $ 5. They have many wines from sweet late-harvest wines to the Black Russian Red that sells for $ 59. We have stopped by before, but usually during events, so this was out first«sit-down» tasting. Taster Chance, who isn’t yet old enough to sample himself, led us through. He’s just getting started so I hope visiting wine snobs aren’t too rough on him. Chance poured the wines we wanted and answered any questions. Stop by and give McGregor a try. I don’t think you’ll be worse off for the trip.

Very cool place to stop. Even though there was an event going on we still got taken well care of with our tasting! Their Pinot noir was delicious. Very cool gift shop, also loved that we got free glasses with our tasting and Had a nice little food pairing plate. Glad we stopped!

The last stop on our Keuka Lake wine tour. We came around the end, as there was only one table there. You are seated at a table, and they’ll bring over the glass and the menu of drinks to choose from. It’s about $ 5 for 5 tastings, plus you get to keep the glass. They also include a plate of snacks/cheese and chocolate to go with your wines. The wines are all quite good, and the server even allowed us to try a few more wines more than the 5. It was nice to just sit, relax and enjoy the view and wine. What a good way to end our wine tour.

The Black Russian was quite good, but really overpriced. You can get the same quality for about $ 30 in Napa/Sonoma wine from a good wine shop. The cheese, jams, sauces, rubs were all quite good. Only gave this place a 3 because some of the jams that we purchased were past their expiry date, and moldy. They let us exchange them, but gave us a bit of a hard time over it.

I’ve seen the picture of Mr. McGregor and his son on the tractor(circa 1973) on many a Finger Lakes brochure, and wanted to experience the place, and I’m glad I did. As others have stated, it’s a different tasting experience — you sit down, as if you’re at a restaurant. Those who are not prepared for that and expect(and insist) on a traditional«stand at the tasting counter» experience may be disappointed. Several such people were and left in a huff when they were told they had to wait about 20 minutes for a table… We waited. there was plenty to see inside the gift shop, and plenty to taste(rubs and sauces aplenty, similar to Cobblestone on Cayuga Lake).(Note: you are given an opportunity to sit at a table with a bunch of strangers, if your group is small and there is a table that has room; some people would have no problem with this… we preferred to wait). When you take a seat, you choose the wines you wish to try from their menu(you can try up to 6… so they say. We were able to try eight). Our server was hilarious, I was pretty sloshed by the time I got to McGregor so I can’t remember his name. All wines were fine, but again, by this time the wines were all starting to taste alike. The Cab Franc apparently was great as one person in my party bought a bottle and she’s extremely critical of Finger Lake reds. The signage to this location is adequate but a map certainly helps. It’s up on a hill and there are nice views of the lake. But plan to stay awhile…

This is one of my favorite vineyards in the finger lakes. I have to say that the main reason for this is that it’s diverse and offers a unique experience on Keuka. The main tasting room is a gorgeous conservatory with unabashed views of the vineyards and lots of light. They have cheese plates and snacks you can order with your wine. You get a free wine glass with your tasting. The mood and message here is «stay awhile,» which is a nice change from the cattle calls that some vineyards herd patrons through at rapid fire pace. You can sit with a group of people, relax, buy wines by the glass, have some snacks. And as a plus, this vineyard has wonderful foodstuffs for sale too — an awesome selection of jams, mustards, crackers, pretzels. The wines themselves are quite good, even the reds. I would try the red wines here, especially the cabernets. Fingerlakes don’t excel in the reds, but McGregors are definitely worth trying and buying. Reasonable prices. A bit off the beaten path, but a lovely little place.

I don’t really remember anything about the wine per say, which isn’t the greatest of endorsements for a winery but the food they paired the wines with, their rubs and their sauces were to die for. We bought a couple wines but we bought a ton of food stuffs like the pesto spread, the chipotle meat rub, the chipotle dressing and we have enjoyed every send of it. I wish I didn’t live in California so that I could get more. The atmosphere was great, the lady helping us was cheerful and pleasant, the dog was adorable and it was an enjoyable experience all around.

There was a wine trail event on the day we visited so the place was full. The tasting room staff handled the extra people very well. The wines were neutral as nothing stood out. I

I’ve been going to McGregor for 25 years and have never had a bad experience there. Their wines have always been consistently outstanding. And this year’s trip to McGregor over Labor Day weekend was no different. Great wines, great service, great tasting.(Love all the little snacks they give you to pair with your wines!) Because I was with a Clan Club member they let us do some fascintating side-by-side tastings. We did the 2007&2008 Black Russians, 2008&2009 Cab Francs and the 2007&2008 Pinots. Definitely a must-stop winery on Keuka Lake. And if you only have room for one more wine in your trunck, go for the 2008 Cab Franc Reserve. Really quite incredible. Can’t wait until next September!

I was skeptical of the Black Russian Red, but it really is a nice, unique, full bodied red wine. This is the one wine club we joined during our trip to the Finger Lakes, partially because of the level of knowledge and expertise of the staff, partially because their whites AND reds are outstanding. The staff bring you a selection of snacks to accompany your tasting. They don’t just pour and leave. They talk with you, get to know your tastes, and ask your opinion. Their club not only seems like a great deal, but the events seem like a lot of fun as well. We’re really excited about being part of their wine club and visiting again in the future!

Probably the most fun winery that we stopped at on the trail. Staff was funny and friendly and the whole place just seemed to have a sense of humor about it. I also just really like the environment of this place, it felt fun and comfortable at the same time. In a region known for sweet white wines, the Highlands Red here is actually pretty good. It was the only decent red I had the whole trip… might not be the best compliment, but I brought home a bottle and enjoyed it a few months later as well. Snacks served with the tasting were also delicious. The garlic and herb cheese was so awesome we had to buy a bag of it to take with us. Definitely a must do if you are in the area.

IT’S ALLABOUTTHEBLACKRUSSIAN! This place was way out of the way, but we had heard great things about it from other wineries along the trail. I’m so glad we came! The tasting room was lovely — you sit at a picnic table with a beautiful view, and the wine is brought to you — along with a lot of history and information. You also get a little plate of goodies to have with the wine. if you buy more than $ 30 worth of wine(and you probably will), then the tasting fee is waived. If you don’t, you still get a free glass so it’s totally worth it. The folks at McGregor focus on the drier style wines, and are famously known for their«Black Russian» which is made from a grape varietal that I can’t remember, but if my memory is correct, this is one of only a couple of places in the country that grows this type of grape. The result is a very dry wine that is so dark it’s almost black. It’s best when it’s been aged at least 5 years. We took home a couple of these! The other wines we tried were also quite good. We were told that the majority of their sales come from tasting club members, who have the opportunity to taste wine as it’s going through process of being made — club members can buy«futures» on the wine if they think it’s going to come out well. Cool! The prices were higher here than at other wineries, but this place also has more of a boutique style and following. We’re definitely planning to age our Black Russians — and will definitely come back here again!

Fantastic atmosphere, great staff, good wines. This is unique in that you sit down to taste and are offered a tasting plate as well as information on the vineyard/family. Really enjoyed talking with staff members who where interesting and personable. Really great view and nice experience. We tried dry wines and enjoyed them.
