They give us the end of the ribs racks all dry and the chicken was burn i ask the owner witch is a woman and she just said to me the i have to ask for real fibs… really disappointed and i thing the will loose so many customers. …real bad experience

Just had my first meal there and I’ll definitely be back. Food was moist and tasty, served hot. MASSIVE portions. My wife and I will likely split a medium salad and one main dish next time. I had the Paella Valenciana and my wife had the pork ribs and chicken. Outstanding, but we’re taking home enough food for two more meals, in spite of the reasonable prices. The restaurant area is humble but quiet, decent service. If good food in a quiet environment for a reasonable price is more important than atmosphere, this is your spot.

Great grilled meats and plenty of food for the price. You can feed at least 3 people with quantity of a combo platter. The pork ribs, chicken and beef ribs are seasoned perfectly to my liking. The 4 star rating is merely nitpicking because the combos are carbs overload with rice and French fries. I tried their beans as a replacement to fries but the beans were so bland and not worth extra $. Otherwise, a great go to!

This place is amazing; been coming here for years. No matter what you order its going to be good. Nothing fancy but perfectly made food is always a plus. Ive never been disappointed here and everyone whom works here works very hard. Smells amazing even when driving bye. Also try the empanada’s if your smart and want an appetizer or something extra grand with your dinner.

This place is VERY good food. We go once a week, every Friday night. We usually do take out, but occasionally we go on Sundays and on those days we eat there. Food is seriously great, atmosphere is how I would say a pizza place is; more casual in the front of the restaurant and a little more formal in the back of the restaurant, yet still casual. Prices are exceptional for the quality and quantity of food you are going to eat. For 2 people to eat there it’s like $ 20.00 and you will be FULL and maybe even some leftovers. Love it here.

When one wants good Portuguese food, they would have to think twice whether they want to take a risk and drive up to Newark, NJ. Not anymore. Dunellen BBQ outdoes itself with its delicious sauce and well prepared meats. I have tried other «BBQ’s» in the area, and let me tell you, they don’t compare to this place. Prices are okay, and I could do without the vegetables in the rice, but all in all, this place definitely stands out. Will be coming back for sure.

I went here for the first time and ordered the chicken and beef spare rib combo. The food is cooked over a fire pit with charcoal so needless to say it was really good and had nice flavor! So why the 3 stars? I felt like the portions were construed. Too much rice and too little meat. The entrees cost too much for that. I had 3 nice sized ribs and 1 tiny lonely piece of chicken. Also, I feel like if they expanded their menu a bit for more bbq variety (not just peruvian) they could out do anyone in the area!

So once again this business is ridiculous with their timing of take out orders! I ordered at 12:26 PM and the girl on the phone said 20 minutes. It’s now 1:06 PM and this business is very irritating how they take my time for granted! Get your sh*t straight with take out orders because no one wants to unnecessarily sit around for 10 – 15 minutes. Next time this happens I will not hesitate to call out the manager or whoever is in charge that day because this is absolutely ridiculous for a business to keep repeating the same mistake!

The Brazilian BBQ dishes are good but the empanadas are AMAZING! They are large with a great crispy shell and the fillings are delicious and juicy; specifically the chicken, beef, and pork empanadas. They also have some great desserts; The Tres Leches, Red Velvet, and Oreo cakes are very good.

This place is really good. The only thing is that, I’ve always ordered the Brazilian steak and it just keeps getting smaller and smaller. The portions are not always the same. Because my boyfriend and I had ordered the same thing last time, sometimes I would get more of something than him or he would have a certain veggie on his plate that I didn’t receive on mine. I would like more of a consistent meal and more meat. Don’t be cheap on that and put more rice on the plate, please.

North Plainfield, NJ
My husband works right next-​door so one day we passed by and got a tray of food to take home he had a rice chicken french fries and ribs. The food was good it actually tastes like a place close to my house in North Plainfield called Grove BBQ. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

I think this place has changed owners again. That has happened to this place a few times in the past. They serve Portuguese style BBQ. The ribs are still the same… although they are better tasting when you buy them closer to lunch time or dinner time.
I ordered a full rack of ribs with the yellow rice, no french fries. The yellow rice was kind of salty and it didn’t come with enough pickled vegetables. All in all it’s good enough if you’re in a hurry and have to feed like 5 people, which is what I had to do.

They have a legit charcoal pit that flavors anything they cook with that great charcoal BBQ flavor that we love. For $ 14, a whole chicken, a pile of rice and fries… intend to come back more often. Love their BBQ!

Shared the chicken, pork ribs and beef ribs combo with my husband. Huge portion, definitely enough left over for another meal. The meat was tender and flavorful. Rice and fries are great as well.
The store front looks small but there’s a bigger dining area in the back for bigger groups of people. Servers are friendly. Try the Portuguese soda Sumol. :)
