Obviously, if someone thinks Denny’s serves high quality cuisine, their review should not be trusted. The last time I visited Denny’s they couldn’t manage to make pancakes in under an hour. My children always ask if I think our order is finally done whenever we drive by Denny’s, but, I digress. Obviously, this is not a high class, 4 star restaurant, but I rated it as such for the type of restaurant it is; a typical Midwest diner. The fried chicken is great and the all you can eat spaghetti on Friday night is quite good. The desserts are also rather good. Breakfast, particularly the Biscuits and Gravy, is much better than the hog slop served at Denny’s. The wait staff and owner are extremely friendly although some of the servers are a little more attentive than others. For a family of 4, the bill is usually around $ 30 and some change, which is very reasonable.

The Flamingo has been around for years. It’s a classic old school diner that has traditional Midwestern fare. Specials like all you can eat spaghetti, sausage and fried cabbage, and beef and noodles remind me of my grandma’s kitchen. We stopped I tonight right before close and the staff was awesome, the food was great, and our dessert when we got home hit the spot.

Fried cabbage… never heard of it, BUT can’t wait to have it again!!! Nothing fancy or glamorous just plain good.

I honestly can make better food at home. I am not saying the food is bad. It was more like going to your 19 year old sisters house when she is first truly learning to cook. Then you give her some pointers to make it better. The weight staff was a bit awkward. And my drink was flat like it had been poured from a 2 liter that had been sitting out. There was this 1970’s high chair there that didn’t look safe but it was in use. I watched the kid keep sliding through the bottom of it. I think that is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. The place is pricey for the quality of food. There were only a few people there when I went. That should have been a clear sign to keep going. There is a Denny’s down the road from there. I could have gotten better and much cheaper food there. I just like Mom and Pop places. But this is not a good one.
