A charming store located in the small town of Dunsmuir. This place is a favorite of my aunt’s, and we were disappointed when we drove by on our road trip and they were closed(the furnace was broken). Luckily, one of the owners was outside, and they opened the store especially for us. As you enter the store, be sure to look down, because there’s a grate covering the stream that runs underneath the store. Cool! Lots of jewelry, fun necklaces and earrings, purses, and funky antiques. A great range of prices(my sister bought a necklace for $ 1), something for everyone. In the back of the store you can find antiques like a tuba, a priest’s cloak, dolls, a selection of vintage craft magazines, and lots more. A must-visit if you’re in Dunsmuir.

The Brown Trout Café and the Brown Trout Gallery are actually in separate buildings, but are connected on the inside. It’s a nice place to either come in on your own or wander about while your café lunch is being prepared. Half the fun of the Brown Trout Gallery is exploring the building and seeing what they have. In front you’ll find some nice local arts and crafts. Walk behind and you’ll find a separate women’s clothing area in a back room. Then to the left of that back room, you’ll find another area that is kind of a garden or yard decoration section and a seasonal tax preparation service(complete with table and chair). And since this is a neat old historical building, who knows what else is here that the owners aren’t currently using.
