I had an unexpected stay in Dunsmuir recently and this charming bar was definitely a treat. The bartender/owner was very welcoming and greatly added to the experience and atmosphere. The drinks were reasonably priced and the nachos are killer, all made with fresh ingredients. I’m a nacho conosseir and these are definitely top five. Drinks: awesome Food: awesome Environment: awesome Vibes: excellent Next time I stop in this town I definitely will be returning.

I would have given the place a good rating, but I cant see frequenting a bar that hires bands then doesnt make good on thier payment. They are a great band we had lots of fun, because of the band, then you stiff them. I will never go there again or reccomend them to anyone. Had to give them one star, it would let me post with zero.

This bar is bad to the bone. My friends and I come to Dunsmuir once a year to celebrate a birthday and we always make sure to stop by Spirits. Everybody is friendly, and the nachos are AMAZING! Bad to the bone!

A beautiful u-shaped bar makes Spirits a welcoming place for all, and the locals who frequent this spot are kind and inviting. A great selection of beers on tap, delicious nachos, pool and a cute patio for the smokers in your group. If you visit, be sure to chat with the locals– the people at Spirits are definitely the highlight!

This place use to be very nice and I always had an amazing time but the only definition I can find for it now is trash. Friday night I went and the blonde bartender was coked out of her mind and it took forever to get our drinks because she was too preoccupied with her boyfriend and flirting with the locals. Then my fiancée and I decided to give it another shot on monday figuring someone else would be bartending. There was an older burnette lady working this time but monday night was by far my worst experience at a bar. I witnessed unprofessional behavior, lack of class, disrespect, and trash. Ill start off by saying that the older burnette bartender should have been on the other side of the bar because she was partying just as much as everyone else. The blonde bartender was there(not working) with her boyfriend and her stripper friend. The stripper and the blonde bartender were up on the bar giving strip teases, humping the dirty bar floor, and acting like complete whores I thought I was in a strip club and not a small town bar. The blonde bartender and her boyfriend are apparently swingers because miss blondie was running around making out with male patrons. At one point the stripper and blonde bartender decided to jump on the pool table and start dry humping in the middle of our pool game. I use to bartend at a biker bar and not once have I dealt with such trash before. I understand things can get crazy when people are having fun but to have a bartender there thats doing coke, ignoring patrons because she is preoccupied trying to hook up with male patrons, and being disrespectful by trying to reenact a soft core porn movie in the middle of someone pool game is absolutely unprofessional and trashy. It does not matter if she was working or not, you do not act that way in your place of employment. My family has lived/visited this town for 5 generations and its a shame whoever the new owner is allowing such garbage at the one place in town to go to in order to have a good time. The only bartender that seemed to actually respect for the patrons and didnt act like trash was a young burnette lady that was in there monday enjoying her day off.

Pretty sure this is the same place, but Jay M. says is closed. Maybe opened up again under new owners???((If I Have The Wrong Place… please email so I can correct)) Anyway, went there with my husband and a friend during our stay in Dunsmuir and the place was pretty dead except the local town drunk and few other people. Then again, it was also a Sunday night. The place was nice with one coin pool table, and area for darts and a cool little smoke room that was open to the exposed brick and sky light, however, the bar had little selection. Maybe cause it’s a small town, but I was kinda shocked a the little selection and I’m even from a small town myself. The prices were a little too much though. Again, I know it’s a small town and all, but 5 bucks for a few sips and 7 for a glass that was mostly ice was a bit much. It was sort of comparable with what you would pay in downtown Sacramento for a drink, but still get a little less. Service was fine though so no complaints and the place was nice(probably really busy during Fri/Sat night I’m sure), but for the price, I can drink at my cabin for a lot less. It was just nice to get out though and play some pool.

Spirits bar and lounge is quite a small town experience. The last time we hung out at Spirits we had a long discussion with an old guy on parole. He would occasionally nod off while telling us the story of how he got busted with all that white powder. He needed something LEGAL to perk himself up. Bartender… one coffee STRONG. There are also quite a few fine law abiding Dunsmuir citizens who frequent Spirits. The guy who works for Southern Pacific, Ted Fay’s grandkids, even the dude from River Realty. The bartender also works as a teacher at Dunsmuir High School. There were also a few baby mamas looking to add another kid to her stable. Tight outfit. Boobs overflowing. Spirits is a good place to kick back, have a few beers, and check out the local flavor. ************ We revisited Spirits over the Memorial Day weekend. They had a parcheessi tournament going on as we ducked in from the rain at the British Car Show. Lots of ashen-looking types with mustaches. Grey pony tail guy was on us immediately. «Hey, look at that shiny ring!» That dude was plastered. I just have a regular silver band. He said, «You must polish it or something.» I shot back, «Look at your fingernails, they’re all dirty and filthy… just like your ring». He was talking us up as we ordered a couple of Dunsmuir finest Budweiser. He went on about vigilante justice against some local teenagers. He seemed harmless but not somebody you’d want to drive home late at night. The female bartender reminded me of an east coast type with a lot of worry on her mind. She wore a lot of matching green. She had a pocket in her snug white pants to keep her green lighter handy. The bar also had some folks driving through town looking for a place to have a glass of wine. They definately needed a room. The woman was all over this guy after a glass of red. Spirit’s not all just one-eyed men with patches. A country band passing through asked if they could play for tips, so they were playing some cool original rockabilly and country tunes that night. The manager lady seemed excited about the live band playing. She was also spearheading the parchessi tournament earlier in the day. You can tell Spirits Bar is the core of the Dunsmuir drinking scene.
