This salon is now call John Anthony salon. New management and it’s GREAT! Very friendly, quiet and I hardly ever have to wait for my appointment. The hair dressers are all experienced and professional. This is your typical salon. I’ve been going there for years. Ask for Anthony… he’s terrific.

My aunt in law, mother in law and I have been seeing Marla Frey for over 2 years now. We all live a hour away from here also but it’s defintely worth the drive! She is awesome! She does a fantastic job with my hair color and cut! It was the first person that has never messed my hair up and the first to actually talk to. Whenever I would go to other places it was just awkward silence the whole time, but Marla will talk to you and make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend her you won’t regret it! :D

Ask for Pascal or Finnell — both are great. Jennifer Finnell is my regular stylist now and she is fantastic. I have very fine hair that is difficult to deal with, and she really took the time to find out what I was looking for and what would work with my hair. She’s also warm and friendly, very easy to talk to.

Update 10/19/2011. I moved out of the area in 2010 and since then Sheri has moved an opened up as Salon NIKOVA. I haven’t been there, but if I ever visit Atlanta and also need a haircut, you will find me there :)

Since I live in Midtown, I can walk to about half a dozen hair salons. So why do I brave 400 to drive to Salon Nikova? One word: Pascal. Before a friend introduced me to Pascal, I lived under the false impression that a trip to the salon was fraught with long waits, pulled hair, and scalp-blasting dryer heat.(And yes, this was at a high end, very well known salon that shall remain nameless.) Now I know whether I’m getting highlights, all over color, a simple cut, or a just a blowout and style, it can be a zen-like, relaxing experience that leaves me looking fabulous, each and every time. Located in one of Dunwoody’s ubiquitous strip malls near the corner of Abernathy and Mount Vernon, Salon Nikova is my kind of place. The staff is warm and friendly, and if Margi is washing your hair you’re in for a special treat. Don’t want to fight the suburban traffic wars? No worries; Salon Nikova is a short walk from the MARTA station.

I went to this salon for a wedding hair consultation(obviously, this was several years ago because I’ve been married for over 3 years now). My appointment was with Joseph, and I’d explicitly asked for a time that would allow me to leave the salon for work by a certain time. Joseph showed up 30 minutes late for my appointment. When he did arrive, it really seemed like he was on something. I don’t even know what, but he was twitchy and seemed really out of it. During the consultation, he didn’t listen at all to what I wanted, and did something odd and twisty to my hair that looked horrifying. I realize that«horrifying» is in the eye of the beholder, but come on. The generally accepted concept of wedding hair is not avant-garde. He also put so much spray and other crap on my head that it was nearly impossible to get my hair into anything resembling a normal state before I drove(late) into work. Between the unpleasant experience and the fact that his quoted price was extremely high, I never went back for a second visit. Perhaps the other stylists here are better, but I definitely would not recommend Joseph.
