Southern Comforts

A bunch of new furniture from Mexico. The Dunwoody staff are ok. The rest of the locations are unfriendly and do not care about their customers. If you consign with them be prepared for their employees to have first shot at buying your items. Could this be a conflict of interest, yes?

75% «new» vintage, as in new made to look old, but brand new. 25% «real» vintage. I have them at 1 star because despite plenty of staff, not one of them asked me if I needed help. Granted I’m 40 white with a scraggly beard. Maybe that scared them and That really pisses me off! Don’t judge me. Half my job is buying antiques.

This is a really cute store that my mother-​in-​law took my to. Apparently, my Grammie loves it too!
There furniture is a bit on the expensive side, but they do have a good deal. If it has been there 1 month, it is 10% off — 2 months, 20% — 3 months, 30%. Not a bad deal.
It is really small compared to Kudzu, which has to be my favorite antique store in the area so far.
At Southern Comfort, I was able to find a few cute items in the back for 50% off. Apparently, they were there since January (over six months).
The reason I gave it 3 stars, and not 4, is that they wanted my credit card number on an UNSECURED piece of PAPER to HOLD an item for 24 hours. I have never heard of this policy before. (I just put something on hold at Kudzu with just my name and number!) I was pretty appalled. When I asked if there was anything else I could do, they told me it is there store policy. Then they said «it is how they protect their sellers.» Excuse me! This is a hold for a $ 25 CHIPPED lamp. It is not like they were going to charge me if I changed my mind.
If it wasn’t for that, this place would be a solid 4 stars. The items are pretty pricey, and the store is pretty small. I will probably go back to look around with Grammie or my mother-​in-​law. Hopefully next time I can find something a little less expensive or on sale.
Just be warned: Do not put anything on hold if you want to keep your personal information and credit cards safe from thieves!
