Amazing bread, friendly staff, and great coffee. It’s a real bakery full of bakers who can bake. Even has good sandwiches. One of the best places in Durango.

Their coffee is a great way to kick start the morning: dark, flavorful, and potent. The various pastries are above average. I am unsure why every pastry is so greasy. The cost is fairly high, too. I come here every so often to enjoy something greasy and their coffee, but I cannot recommend them for a daily dose of Bread.

We were vacationing in Durango so were excited to try this place based on the review in the latest Sunset magazine. The owners must have paid Sunset for the review. Granted, our mistake for getting there late morning because they were sold out of the good stuff so we thought at least we get some cookies for the kids. Wish we had skipped it.

Given the influence of the low-carb/paleo/gluten free set in Colorado, a high quality bakery is quite the find. Envision light and flaky croissants. Decadent cinnamon rolls. High quality strong coffee. Smiling hippies. Am I in heaven?

I hate that they don’t take credit cards, but never fear! The ATM at the gas station around the corner has your back. Beautiful beautiful turkey cranberry sandwich. Get it. Don’t even question it. The mozzarella and especially the salami sandwiches are often super greasy but still a good comfort sandwich if you’re in need of one. The cookies are delightful obviously. Try the Sow Your Oats or the Chocolate Gulch if you’re a choco-head, which I’m not– but I still like the cookie for some odd reason. They have a great seating area outside that I like to draw and munch at in the early mornings before my barista shifts. Watch out for the birds though! They’re spoiled by crumbs and will not hesitate to pester you for some. Love you Bread!

I finally got my eclairs… And they were delicious!!! Added bonus — the young lady that helped me was helpful and sweet. FINALLY some good service at bread !

We love Bread and make it a point to stop by there every time we are in Durango! Their BLT sandwich is one of the best I’ve had and their Sow your Oats Cookie is definitely one of my favorite cookies ever!

Delightful staff and delicious edibles! I tried the Sow your Oats cookie as recommended by other reviewers. It was very yummy and I love the variety of ingredients. I wanted to try everything in the display so we’ll be back again while we are here. The reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars — 1. They don’t accept credit cards which is inconvenient. 2. Minimal seating inside. I was very glad they had coffee but the options for mix ins were few.

This wasn’t as good as I expected. I came to buy some sandwiches for a road trip. I came with the false expectation that there would be a wide variety of made to order sandwiches on a menu but instead found only 6 or 7 varieties of pre-wrapped sandwiches in the cooler. The bread was kind of tough. I ordered the turkey sandwich but didn’t like the taste of the cheese that came with it so ended up pulling the sandwich apart and picking out the cheese pieces. It was not an enjoyable experience.

This is a small little bakery hidden in a strip mall a bit away from town. It was a nice discovery as i like the quaint, local feel yet their food was good. i had a sandwich and a coffee cake and both were good. We were looking for something light before hitting the road and this did the trick. It’s a nice option if you’re heading north towards Silverton and wanting something good and quick.

Very underwhelmed by this place. Brownie – It was bitter, lacking in flavor and very crumbly. Peanut butter cookie – Although it had a very odd texture, I liked the texture. It was like grainy and creamy and the same time. But the peanut butter flavor was lacking and the cookie was hard to eat. it was also very crumbly. Sow Your Oats cookie – This cookie was pretty good. Not the best oatmeal cookie I’ve ever had, but probably one of the most flavorful because it had unexpected things mixed in the dough. It almost tasted healthy. I know that altitude changes things when it comes to baking, and I’m beginning to wonder if that’s what the problem is. My husband and I traveled to the mountainous areas of 3 different states and every single baked good we had, had a bad texture. So maybe the altitude is to blame.

We came to bread to grab a cookie. We ended up leaving with 5– and the scone of the day. We got the chocolate chip, the gingersnap, the Sow Your Oats cookies, and the scone of the day. The chocolate chip was one of the best I’ve ever had– slightly crispy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. A slightly buttery taste with intermittent choxolately goodness. The gingersnap was my idea of the perfect gingerbread cookie. We got it for my mom, but I ended up eating at least half. It had the perfect blend of flavors– molasses, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg, in a perfectly slightly crispy/slightly chewy exterior. So good. The Sow Your Oats cookie was exactly what I wanted– and better from a healthy oatmeal cookie. It was slightly sweet, having an almost maple flavor. I saw chia seeds, oats, and a blend of healthy ingredients that I couldn’t believe tasted that good. The scone of the day– Cranberry Pecan, was perfectly buttery and flaky with a delicious dried cranberry or pecan every so often. Definitely one of the best scones I’ve ever had. My grandma, who is quite picky, enjoyed it as well. I wish I could have gotten bread or cinnamon rolls, but we were leaving, so we got whatever was most portable– and it was all amazing. Way to go, bread! You’re an awesome bakery. I highly recommend it.

This is a real bakery!!! Delicious croissants that melt in your mouth. My husband went to the real French bakery in town and it was overpriced and not half the bakery this place is. The breads are baked to perfection scrumptious when hot in the morning. The muffins are the best I ever had. They have crunchy top with moist yummy inside. They have delicious sandwiches which are simple yet with good ingredients. I highly recommend this place to eat.

I had the most amazing bread from here. My description is a cinnamon raisin with the flavor of sourdough added in. Wow. I was traveling and I could just eat a slice plain and it was awesome! I was here on a Sunday morning and it was pretty popular. Very casual, small space but worth it to taste their sandwiches, cookies and bread! Worth stopping in if you are in the area!

I’m in love! It’s a good thing I don’t live in Durango because I would have to go to therapy to get help from eating too many Sow Your Oats cookies. I’m addicted. I’ve tried several types of their bread, the granola, brownies, and all of the cookies… it’s all amazing! They have a different selection of breads each day. They also have sandwiches. The owner, Rob, is a bike fanatic and very kind. We mentioned we were from Colorado Springs and would be back the next day to pick up some more goodies for our daughter on our way home. He surprised us by putting together a care package for her. So thoughtful. If you live in Durango(lucky you!) or if you’re just visiting, you have to try Bread… especially the Sow Your Oats cookies… you won’t be disappointed. You might just become addicted like me?!

Although old men probably should not eat salami, an excellent salami sandwich was enjoyed here. They had a lot of other stuff but the salami sandwich really stood out in the display case. All of the sandwiches looked good and had a well-considered heap of ingredients. Like Sam, I say the Mayo worked. I usually don’t eat mayo. The chocolate chip cookies are excellent. This is a visually pleasant place with great bakery odors inside! Friendly and talented staff! I recommend this place if you’re in the neighborhood! Not sure if I’ll be in Durango again in this lifetime but Bread will be included if I am.

The Sew Your Oats, oatmeal cookie was divine! The best I have ever had. We also purchased a baguette. The baguette didn’t make it home with us. We ate it, in its entirety, in the car. It was that good.

Pretty much the only legit bakery in Durango. Kicks Jean Pierre’s butt. I’m a big fan of their baguette bread because it’s always nice and crispy on the outside and moist and yummy on the inside. Great with some butter and Manchego cheese on it or just plain… NOM! I am also quite partial to their blueberry danish but it is so big that I can’t finish it myself(well maybe I could since it’s so good haha) The coffee cake and brownies always look so good! Pretty much everything in their display case when you walk in is tempting, I definitely want to try more. They have sandwiches too and my favorite is the turkey because they put cranberry on it which tastes amazing! I usually don’t like mayo on my sandwich either but whatever they do here it totally works. Nice people serving simple, fresh food =D
