Kids had rack of ribs and loved it. Mini taco choices were unique. Atmosphere is casual and fun. Kids loved the patio and mini golf. A great local find!

Gorgeous view from the patio and great pinto beans and Cole slaw. Unfortunately, the meat (brisket, pulled pork, and ribs) was very dry. We drowned it in sauce to try and compensate.

We didnt know what to expect from a Colorado BBQ joint but it is right up there with the greats. The texas tacos with the habanero cranberry sauce is a must try! The girls in the front were super friendly and offered great suggestions.

Being new to town, this was our first stop out of the hundreds of eating establishments in Durango. We have been there several times already. It is GOOD food! The service is always friendly. Always. I have lived in the south where BBQ is a religion and I have to say, they do a great job here with their menu. I think we may be addicted to their pulled pork sandwich. WOW!!! Perfection in so many ways. You order, get your food and sit down. Not a place where they bring it to you, but, it doesn’t matter. You get your food faster I think! Fresh and made right in front of you. Go there and give it a try. It’s a winner!

Good BBQ. Casual cozy atmosphere. I had the brisket, it was a little dry. The hubs had the ribs and he said they were good. We both had cheesey potatoes and they were cheesey. All in all, good food. Service was a little slow and it wasn’t that busy. We would go again, but I’d try something other than the brisket next time.

This is my favorite location of Serious BBQ, primarily for the balconies which overlook the Animas River. There’s not a better way to while away a Sunday afternoon than eating tasty barbecue on this balcony.
I always get the pulled pork sandwich with the cherry chipotle sauce. Heaven. Savory and sweet and hella tasty. My son gets the taco with the cheesy potatoes and makes a mini-​quesadilla out of everything. My husband gets the sausage and the banana pudding. Always the pudding. If we are feeling festive, he gets a beer and I get their $ 5 blue margaritas with the sugar rim. Perfect.
Service is friendly and upbeat. It’s not one of those places where you get table service, which works just fine for us. Great laid back place to fill your belly and go to your happy place.

Pulled into an empty parking lot at 630 pm. Decided to try it out. After looking at the menu there was no mention of kids meals. After asking the cashier she stated they do not have kids meal.
We decided our 4 year old would not be happy and we did not want to stop at McDonald’s for him so we left.

The beef brisket is fat-​city and not much smokey taste. I threw more than half away.
The sausage was just standard hot store-​bought sausage; again no smokey taste.
I feel sorry for the locals that are deceived by this so-​called TX BBQ shack.

Why wouldn’t you visit a Texas BarBQ spot while visiting Colorado right?
Well this place was right around the corner from our hotel so we checked it out. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (on a sesame bun with cherry compote. that part was not my favorite) overall the place is very clean, you order at the counter and you get your food within minutes. It’s okay if you looking for some BarBQ in Durango.

Four of us had a great lunch at the Serious Texas Bar-​B-​Q on Camino Del Rio in Durango. We all agree that this is a definite five (5) star location though not «perfect».
Between the four of us we had… a Texas Taco, Elgin, TX Sausage sandwich, Pulled Pork sandwich, Brisket, and all types of sides (cheesy potatoes, pinto beans, potatoe salad). The only item that didn’t draw 5 stars was the brisket (it was a bit dry). I had the Elgin, TX Sausage sandwich and though it was fine for me, some may find the sausage casing tough, which can make the sandwich a bit hard to eat.
A definite plus about this location is the amazing patio! A great patio overlooking the river. I’d eat here just for the oatio, but the food is great too! The food was so good that two of our group ordered to go so they could have some Serious Texas Bar-​B-​Q later.

4. Not a fan of any of their sauces. They seem to have only sweet based sauces (even if there is a bit of spice to it) and no true bbq ones. Just my opinion though

I have gone to Colorado for a week each year for the last 6 years and I make it a point to stop at a Serious Texas while I am in a 100 mile radius of Serious Texas. The BBQ is the best around and you have to try a Texas taco, you’ll never want to eat at another BBQ place again. The environment is awesome and you are guaranteed to have a great time and a great meal when you eat there!
Try it out for yourself and be hungry when you go because the helpings are in your favor!

Pulled pork was pretty good. I was not a fan of the sesame bun, but the meat was moist. I did like The cherry chipotle Salsa on top… Needed more of that and a thicker bbq sauce.

The food was absolutely amazing. We had the big six, which had brisket, sausage, pulled pork, turkey and ribs. Excellently cooked and the taste was great. I preferred the BBQ sauce that was on the table instead of the samples on the platter.
The sweet tea was very tasty and so were the side of beans and the potato salad. Everyone was friendly that worked there and there was a nice patio to eat your meal on. We will definitely go again.

Seriously great BBQ! This is the way it should be done, nothing is smothered in sauce, it’s available if you want it. The brisket is sliced not chopped, has a nice smoke ring & great flavor. The sausage, ribs, pulled pork and sides were also great. A good sauce is pretty easy to make and a lot of BBQ places here in Colorado chop and smother everything in sauce to hide their meats lack of flavor and smoke which takes time. For those of us who have «babysat» a brisket for 12 to 15 hours we know this, it is a craft. Next time I’m back in Durango, this will be the first place I stop. Well done!
