This place has the best burgers in town. The meat is high quality and cooked to perfection. The dipping sauces for the fries are amazing. Servers are always friendly and remember us by name. While this restaurant is known for its burgers, I must say the oysters are a must try as well.

We came here during lunch time on a Saturday. First time here and we will definitely be back. Probably the best burgers in Durham. I ordered mine with«no pink» and it was still so juicy. Not overdone at all. The Burgers come a la carte so you have to pay extra for fries(bummer). Let me tell you though, the fries are SO worth it. They are freshly cut and come with your choice of dipping sauce.

Ok, so it’s a burger joint, right; it’s so much more than that. I’m critical of food, I mean food has to touch you speak to you, and the food here just does. My first impression, the place is clean, the bathrooms are nice clean. I had the burger deluxe with a side salad. The burger big, salad nice. The food was played great. The music is right, very calming. Which is what you want. I had a lime aid to drink these folks know what they’re doing. I cannot wait to return to see what they do with well mixed drinks. In closing, you’re in Durham, want a great burger, well don’t miss out definitely worth its salt. Try this place already!!!

A coworker recommend this restaurant to me so I decided to try it out. They have the best burger and fries. The customer service was outstanding! Our server checked on us several times. My burger was cooked perfect. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

After hearing that Burger Bach was doing a Wicked Weed Tap Takeover last Friday night, we decided to check it out. There are not a ton of places to get Wicked Weed beer in the triangle. We had to wait for a table, which was expected as the place is pretty small. We got beers from the bar and sat at an open table outside. A server walked by and asked if we needed any waters while we were waiting. We declined, but I thought that was a really nice gesture, since he knew he was not going to make any money off of it. I also liked that the place the water bottles on the table, as I am always that person having 7 water refills during a meal. They had a really good variety for the tap takeover, although the beers were pricey. Their normal beer list looked pretty good though. Our server was attentive and even brought fresh glasses of ice for our waters midway through the meal. I ordered the Wanaka Chicken sSandwich as I don’t eat burgers and it was awesome! They use good bread and the chicken was a homemade patty. The toppings all worked together really well. It had queso, pico, guacamole, and lettuce. I like that they serve the burgers with a small salad, but mine tasted like it barely had dressing on it. I split a large order of fries with my boyfriend. They were really good and had a ton of sauces to choose from. Beware, if you eat the garlic aioli(or someone you plan on kissing does) it will linger until the next day. A friend I was with got oysters Rockefeller, which came with toasted bread and looked really good. The side salad was huge as well. The guys enjoyed their burgers! They were large enough to be filling, but I didn’t feel like they were unnecessarily huge. It is pricey for a burger joint, but you just have to expect that. I think it’s worth it for the experience.

In the Bull City with other high-end burger places such as Only Burger and Bull City Burger, I think Burger Bach may actually raise the bar a little bit when it comes to high-end burgers! As other reviews have mentioned the beef is high-quality New Zealand beef. I went with the deluxe burger and added cheddar cheese. The burger is quite big and I will have to say it was delicious. The only issue I encountered was when I picked the burger up and took a bite the burger was quite messy and being the gentleman that I am, I decided to cut it up with a knife and proceed to eat the burger with a fork. I believe this to be the only time I have eaten a burger this way. I also ordered BB’s small fries and I enjoyed them along with the aioli sauce that I chose. I couldn’t quite finish all of the fries on my own so keep in mind a small could actually feed two people. Burger Bach has excellent food and service but is EXPENSIVE! Lunch with the burger, fries and tea came to over $ 20, so I probably won’t be a regular. They also have oysters and what looked to be a large craft beer selection, so I would consider coming back in the evening for a few beers and oysters.

Been here many many times now and it is good every time. Great beer selection, service, and the best Bloody Mary I’ve had in Durham. You can come here and sit at the bar to watch some sports or sit at a table with a group. I just always get a burger and share a small order of fries if I am with one other person or a large order if I am with a group of let’s say four. The fries come with dipping sauces. If you opt to just use ketchup, the ketchup is homemade and has a great flavor. Otherwise, the sauces are all great, just depends on what you are in the mood for. Just go with any burger that stands out to you based on the ingredients listed. You can’t go wrong. Then tell the server how you like your burger cooked: pink or no pink. If you are in a rush then maybe consider during off hours.

3.75. Just couldn’t give it a 5. A pricey burger, but pretty on par with any other gourmet burger place. I went with the east coast burger. It was good but the bluberry chipotle bbq sauce was a little too sweet and kind of over powered the burger when combined with the caramelized onions. I got the fries and then got the garlic aoili, roasted onion, and basil pesto, and dijoinnaise sauces. They were good, but a little one note each for me. They were also a little on the thick side with the exception of the dijoinnaise. All in all pretty good. Better than a 3 but once again Unilocal lets me down with the no .5 rating, otherwise I would have galdly given it a 3.5…Just not a 4 unfortunately.

Burger Bach is my favorite burger in the triangle. The meat quality and taste here is the best! All of their meat and cheeses are imported from New Zealand and they even have a delicious raw bar with plenty of selections of different high quality oysters. They are also known for their dipping sauces so ordering fries and some sauces to share as an app is recommended! Great bar and draft selection as well. Its a bit pricey compared to most burger places but for the better tasting burger and quality, its definitely worth checking out!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a New Zealand-inspired restaurant, like, ever, so Burger Bach seemed so intriguing to me and my friends! My group of 4 split a large fry with garlic aioli, original sauce, and ketchup(they accidentally brought out the ketchup as well, but I guess they would have thrown it out anyway…) — the fries had an excellent texture to them, and the dipping sauces were all crazy addictive, especially the garlic aioli. I’m a sucker for burgers with atypical toppings, and the East Coast seemed right up my alley: blueberry chipotle BBQ sauce with bacon, brie, caramelized onions, and garlic aioli. The combination of sweet, salty, and savory was great, making each bite really good. The side salad the burgers come with aren’t too bad, but it’s dressed pretty aggressively — I wish I had asked for a lighter hand or dressing on the side. Service was slightly abysmal in the beginning(we couldn’t find our server for a while), but he got into the rhythm of us being there and ended on a much better note. Not a bad joint for a burger! With the multitude of options, there’s seemingly plenty of reasons to come back to Burger Bach.

«Excellent quality burgers, great service, steep price, on Ninth Street» As a burger fan, I was eager to finally try this place. Came with a large group on a Saturday at lunchtime. I ordered the Wellington burger(comes with blue cheese, gravy, onions, sauteed mushrooms) and shared fries and ~3−4 different dipping sauces with the group. Positives: + Quality. The burger was excellent– meat cooked just right. It also«looked like a burger from an ad», which is unusual– not mushed or sad-looking, but big, bold, beautiful, and juicy as heck, with generous quantities of the toppings. The fries were also good(ie, addicting), and it was fun trying the diverse sauces(e.g., basil pesto, garlic aioli, chipotle BBQ). + Service. They were very attentive to our large group. I got refills on my ginger ale before my cup was ever near empty, and they came by several times to check on us. + Setting/location. Nice place– not too dark or too bright. Seemed like a «fun» place overall, and the location on Ninth Street makes it accessible(with easy parking too). Negatives: — Price. The absolute cheapest burger I saw at Burger Bach was $ 9, and that only comes with a bit of «mixed lettuce» on the side(ie, no fries). My burger was $ 14, again without fries. If 2 people want to share a large fries with 2 dipping sauces, that’d be an additional $ 6, plus another $ 1 for any additional sauces(and the sauces are part of the appeal of this place). I should stress– with my negative, I’m not comparing to McDonald’s here. Bull City Burger(which also has excellent burgers) has their base burger at $ 7, and you’d have to add on a lot of stuff to get one to be over $ 11. A lot of the fancy burgers at Bull City are under $ 10. — No kids’ meal option that I saw. Again, Bull City has a kids burger for $ 5 that comes with fries and a drink.(I have NO idea why a majority of people ticked that this place is «Good for Kids».) — Comfort. I found the stools a bit uncomfortable at the table we sat, but I will give them a plus for hooks under the table to hang up coats/bags. Synopsis: Overall, I’d average to say I found this place A-OK. I would give it 4 stars except I just don’t see when/why I would go back over going to Bull City Burger(unless just wanting a change). The quality is VERY high, though, so I don’t fault them, and I imagine some people may just prefer the options or style here at Burger Bach. I encourage folks to give it a try– you won’t be disappointed in the quality, and the price is only a few dollars more in the end.

Wonderful service and really good burgers. My friend ordered the East Coast burger and I ordered the Queenstown burger. My friend and I asked the waitress to split the burgers so we could each have half. Best choice ever. We were able to try both burgers and it was a good mix. The Queenstown was savory and good with the meat cooked just right but the East Coast burger threw a twist to my taste buds. It had a blueberry jam that made it into a sweet and savory type of dish that was unique and delicious. The small fries was plenty enough to share, we didn’t even finish ours completely. The waitress was delightful and very helpful. I would definitely come here again.

Can’t remember what burger I got, but overall wasn’t very impressed. Bun on my burger was soggy– mushrooms in the burger didn’t have much taste and the side salad was very bland. I know that’s not what there known for, but they could’ve used a dressing with slightly more flavor. Fries were also a disappointment. They were kind of dry and soggy. My husband got the same kind of burger as me but with lamb instead of chicken like me. He thought the burger patty wasn’t bad but agreed that the mushrooms could’ve had more taste and flavor. He also got a couple of beers and thought they had a good variety of beers on tap, most of which were from good local breweries.

Seafood and burgers — an odd couple, it would seem — but: shrug: when in Rome(or in a New Zealand restaurant, rather!)… When our server approached, we asked about the daily oyster options; he pointed out a board with the locations listed(all NC and VA), ordered from briny to sweet, and encouraged us to go take a look in the case to ascertain size and freshness. When we walked over to peer in, we were introduced to Doobie(? I’m quite sure that’s not his name. But that’s what it sounded like!), who cracked open two oysters for us to try, and charmingly referred to us as «mate.» This is the kind of personal experience that makes you fall in love with a place(and sells food!). So we ended up with two half-orders of different varieties, that honestly, were IMO as good as any we’ve ordered at Blu. The fry menu features fries and dipping sauces, or over-the-top fry«indulgences» that pile on different toppings. Our fries had bacon, bleu cheese, and a coating of aioli(woah; calorie bomb). They reminded me of The Pile over at Geer Street Garden, but not quite as good due to the lack of customization. I’d probably get the aioli on the side next time. We ordered the lamb burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and gruyère. As well as the French Chick, a chicken breast with caramelized onions, honey mustard, apple, turkey bacon, and brie. We split the two. They are very messy, but tasty! The Bernaise on the burger was dripping all over, but the Gruyère was pleasantly melted down, and the onions were truly caramelized enhancing the flavor profile ten-fold. I wouldn’t pick this over a Bull City Burger, but it’s definitely good in it’s own right(and I will certainly return given my walking-distance proximity to this restaurant). The chicken sandwich did not measure up quite as well(the breast was a bit thin; and the bacon not crispy), but I looooved that housemade honey mustard — it’s unlike any I’ve had before. Communal table inside along with some booths, and a bit of outdoor patio seating that’s hedged in so as to block out the Harris Teeter parking lot view somewhat.

You have to try this place! My husband and I went for the first time this weekend and we really enjoyed it! I think I might actually like it better than Bull City Burger: gasp: !! Love the décor and ambience… cool place to meet a group of friends or watch a game. There are 4 huge TVs behind the bar area. The food is amazing. You can tell they really value high quality ingredients and homemade food. The meat is grass fed and humanely raised. The ingredients are fresh and they make a lot of the sauces, etc in house… and you can tell the quality difference! I got the East Coast burger and my hubby got the West Coast burger. We both really enjoyed them! I have to eat gluten free(Celiac) and this place is my dream burger joint. They have gluten free buns AND the fries are gluten free because they don’t fry anything else in the fryers! The gluten free bun is really good, not your typical Udi’s bun. All of the dipping sauces are gluten free except for the BBQ sauce and HP sauce(but double check with your server just in case). The fries are delicious! We ordered a large order to split and it comes with ketchup and 2 other dipping sauces. We opted to try the basil pesto and jalapeño…SOGOOD! I don’t know which one I like better. Even the ketchup was super good. Our server, Tony, was great and really helpful. Gave good drink recommendations(the Kiwi is refreshing)! The only thing that is semi lame was that they charge $ 1 for substitutions on your burger. But the good thing is that I didn’t want to because everything sounded so good! So glad to have a new go-to burger place in Durham!

They’re serving up 5-star burgers and 5-star fries, indubitably the most important aspect of a place called ‘Burger Bach.’ My burger was perfectly pink, juicy(but not greasy), and flavorful. I got the basic deluxe — next time I will go for a more adventurous choice, but it was still really good. My only complaint is the enormous amount of mustard on the bottom bun. I scraped off almost a tablespoon. The fries are crispy, fluffy, salty, and golden. Service was relatively quick but not overbearing. Now for the not so good: we ordered the roasted onion and pesto dips along with the fries. The onion one tasted like raw onion pureèd with water, and the pesto was eh. Also kind of weird that they serve the burgers with salad greens and no dressing or anything. Overall, really good food and definitely coming back here!

The best New Zealand restaurant in Durham. OK, I guess that’s by default. These are pricey burgers, no doubt. But they are good, and there is something different about them. I don’t know, maybe it was placebo effect, but the burger meat tasted unique. I don’t know what they do with cows in New Zealand, but they are delicious. My wife and I had lunch on the patio which is a very nice spot as far as a parking lot facing patios go. We shared a large fry order which was plenty. We probably could have gotten by with a small. The fries are fresh cut style and come out piping hot. If you like real french fries, you should definitely try these. We had the honey mustard and chipotle BBQ sauces and both were good. I had the Wellington burger and my wife had a deluxe. The Wellington has blue cheese, mushrooms, caramelized onions(I think) and a steak sauce type dressing. It was a delicious mess. The deluxe is more traditional ketchup/mustard/pickle variety. The greens that come with the burger help you feel better about your life when you’ve succumbed to the temptation of eating a delicious cheeseburger. Their beer selection has a lot of nice local selections, though they were out of several of them. I was able to get the Mother Earth Weeping Willow Wit and it was perfect for a spring day. If you are looking for a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage I highly recommend the handmade lemonade or limeade. Both are very delicious, and I wish I had the recipe for myself. So maybe a little pricey for your everyday burger fix(why are you eating cheeseburgers every day?), but you could at least come by for some delicious fries and a beer on the reg without breaking the bank.

Burger Bach is one of the newest editions to Durham, it is located in the 9th Street area and given the big population that lives around there will no doubt become a popular player in the Durham food scene. The space itself is inviting, it is a nice place to hang out and they have TVs for sports. They also rock a ridiculously impressive beer list. There were around 20NC drafts which made me quite happy and they were fairly priced. Definitely a good place just to grab a beer. The food is definitely pricey, no doubting that, most of the burgers will run you $ 12 – 13 dollars. I understand that is a grass-fed, pasture raised meat but I do wonder if the other ingredients are locally sourced(yep, I sound like a douche). I ordered the Queenstown which is a lamb burger with sauteed onions and mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious and hefty. More expensive than Bullcity burger, but you do get a bigger burger at least. It comes with a «side salad» which yes, is just greens in a light vinaigrette. It isn’t anything noteworthy, but given how heavy the burger was I was happy for a vegetable side. We also tried some oysters, they can do a variety of salt levels and I recommend their briny ones. They were nice, but expensive. Apparently they are going to start a happy hour where oysters will only be a dollar each, I’d recommend waiting to get them during that time. I liked this place and think it will be quite successful. For me given the choice I’d still prefer to do Bull City Burger, but I am happy Durham has this place now.
