This is by far my favorite Chinese place in the area. Aside from the fact that the restaurant smells too strong of air freshener sometimes, which someone else noted, it’s definitely the best place for Chinese food. The food is authentic and cooked exceptionally well. Unlike many Chinese restaurants, the sauces here are never syrupy(unless they’re supposed to be) and the spicy dishes are actually spicy. The veggies are also always fresh and delicious. As others noted the service here is also excellent considering its essentially fast food Chinese. Whenever I get a craving for Chinese this is where I go. I love this place. The only star deduction is for a) the parking lot is kind of small and b) the occasional air freshener/mothball smell.

The food is alright, but I give an extra star for the wonderful lady who does delivery. I usually reserve Chinese delivery for nights after those difficult days when I just don’t have the motivation to do anything else. She always delivers with a smile that puts me in a better mood. Thank you, delivery lady!

I couldn’t really get past the way the white rice smelled like moth balls. Yuck!

This is far and away my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. My parents, who are from Taiwan, will only eat Chinese food from this restaurant and consider it the best in RDU. At one point, our Sunday tradition was getting take-out from here on the way home from church every week. I highly recommend these 3 dishes, which I always order(take-out or dine-in): Hot Pepper Corn Squid, Spicy Dry Bean Curd with Pork, and Wide Rice Noodle with Beef. Everyone who has had these dishes has loved them! You just need to know what to order here and don’t be put off by the appearance of the restaurant.

Miss Alice from China Palace us our go-to delivery person from this inexpensive but consistently decent Chinese food. The chicken curry has just the right amount of spiciness.

Decent Americanized Chinese food. I ordered the double Kung pao with shrimp and chicken and although full of veggies and chicken, they definitely go light on the more expensive shrimp. If you want(slightly) better than average Chinese food in Durham, this is not a bad choice.

We ordered the BBQ pork and the broccoli and beef. The broccoli and beef had a one-dimensional flavor and mostly just tasted salty. The BBQ pork was not at all what we were expecting! It was not at all barbecued; it was served with loads of random vegetables and pork that looked like beef. Again, the dish had this weird salty undertone that tasted nothing like BBQ. We had to call and check to make sure we had the right dish delivered. Overall, we are pretty disappointed. Sriracha saved that situation.

We live down the road from China Palace and feel we lucked out to have a decent Chinese take out near by. For an Americanized Chinese restaurant, this on is pretty tasty. As with most restaurant in NC; if you want them to make a dish spicy, make sure you clearly explain you want it spicy.

The only reason I ordered from this place was because its right down the road, and I am very mad that I made that decision. The fried dumplings had raw meat in them, the sweet and sour chicken was drenched in a too sweet sauce(I assumed it came on the side like anywhere else) with what looked like canned fruit cocktail on top, the fried rice was bland, the wonton soup had no meat in it(it’s what you expect) but the broth was good. The house lomein was the only reason I gave this 2 stars. It was delicious. I didn’t try the egg rolls and ragoons but they looked really greasy. That being said I will never order from here again.

Still not the Chinese food I’m looking for. Place was a little run down and could use a good cleaning.

Best sesame chicken ever! Ask for«white meat» and«extra meat.» Their sezchuan style beef is great as well. But the other items are OK.

Wonton soup and the egg roll are to die for! The soup is perfectly seasoned and has delicious scallions. The egg roll was hot and fresh. The General Ching’s chicken dinner for 2 came out nice and hot an was perfectly breaded. The atmosphere was nice and clean and our food came out in a timely manner. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Overall, I thought this was pretty typical Chinese food. Nothing really extraordinary, but decent. The place is much cleaner than the exterior suggests. I’ll admit, I was a little scared to go in, but it was fine. For the money, it was ok. I got beef and broccoli with a diet coke and it was like $ 9. They don’t have a soda fountain so they brought me a 20oz bottle which they charged $ 2 for. Again, just ok, but in a pinch, I would recommend.

How many times I drove by China Place and thought«what a random location for a Chinese Restaurant.» However, when I was new to Durham just a few months ago, I craving Chinese food and didn’t know where to go. Then, my Unilocal search results pointed me this way so, why not? I was actually happy with the lunch I grabbed here a few months back(March 2014) and found the food to be pretty good — mainly it was so affordable! I was treating my sister out while she was in town, feel like I practically paid nothing for a a yummy meal. The portions were fine, the food to me was good. Had myself a good bowl of soup. The place could use a little decoration, and upgrades in terms of tables and seating, outdoor signage, and the restaurant in general. But with these upgrades, I think the restaurant could be regarded in a better light, considering it’s(to me) «random location.» I wouldn’t mind going again, however.

I’ve lived in Durham for 8 years and I always take people here to have the best egg rolls I’ve ever tasted. Everyone always agrees that they’re amazing. My favorite dishes are the beef with wide noodle soup, tofu chow mein, sesame chicken, and shredded pork with pickled cabbage. And of course the egg rolls. Once I witnessed someone come in furious about their chow mein being not-lo-mein, and now every time I order it they make sure I know it’s vegetables, not noodles. They gave that mean person a refund AND made them lo mein on the house. This was 3 – 4 years ago. I’ve never has an issue with their service, ever. Also, I like dining in here sometimes. It’s not fancy but it sure is relaxed.

Our lunch experience here can best be described with a gesture … *shrug* My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday at about 1:15 and were seated immediately. I was a bit surprised by the size of the dining room. It’s small. There were nine or ten tables and two of those were big round ones with a lazy susan in the center. I think there was another room around the corner(where there was a sign over the doorway for the restrooms) but I didn’t investigate. I was also a bit surprised by how dated the interior looked. Hello 1985! Everything was clean and comfortable, but it felt like I’d stepped back in time with the décor. There were also some very large plants at the entrance to the dining room that made the space feel smaller than it is, and I am not a fan of using push-pins to hang decorations on the wall. However, all that can be forgiven if the food is good. I had the Mongolian Beef, my husband had the Hunan Beef, both dishes came with fried rice, and we both also had Hot Sour Soup. Please note that the Hot Sour Soup is seriously HOT in temperature and in spiciness! My lips went numb and my nose started to run! The Hubs loved it, I would have preferred a bit less heat. Still, I’ll give it a pass. My Mongolian Beef was good, although a bit greasy. The rice was dreadful. It was dry and flavorless. I mixed a bit into the juice /grease of the main dish and even that didn’t help. Bad rice in a Chinese restaurant is absolutely unforgivable. The service was great. It’s obviously a family run business and everyone was friendly and accommodating. I think it was a bit pricy when you consider what we had and the atmosphere we had it in, but the Hubs disagrees. Oh well. I wouldn’t object to going back if we happen to be in the area, but I wouldn’t make any special effort to return.

«Good both Authentic & American Chinese» Came here in a group of 8 for dinner. Five of us split 5 dishes: Singapore rice noodles with vegetables, cashew chicken, Szechuan eggplant, Chinese broccoli, and chicken broccoli. General– Ambiance: Good. Small place, and clearly family-owned. Service: Good. They were patient with us even though we took kind of a long time to decide on our foods. They also answered questions about food allergies. Timing: Good. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Price: Somewhat high, especially given there’s a lot of competition in town. But not crazy-high. Most dishes were $ 10 – 15 each with good quantity(more than enough for one person). Dishes– Singapore rice noodles with vegetables: I didn’t like this at first, but after I ate more, it grew on me until I did like it. It was very heavily seasoned with something that initially turned me off. Cashew chicken: excellent. Everyone on the table loved this one. May have been our favorite dish. Szechuan eggplant: good. Somewhat spicy. I like this dish better at Gourmet Kingdom, though. Chinese broccoli: looked bland(looked like plain steamed Chinese broccoli) but actually tasted really good. This was off their«Chinese» menu. Chicken broccoli: good. Synopsis– Price is a bit on the high side, but the food and service were good. I can imagine returning, but wouldn’t say I’m a «fan».

Service: impeccable. they move with the speed of light. Food: beyond delicious. I had the sesame chicken. Beyond tasty. The garlic spinach was also very tasty. Portion size large — enough food to feel full and take leftovers home to enjoy the next day. Also I felt like one portion was enough for two people to share.
