Great firehouse close to the Durham VA hospital. I was in the area and decided to head over there for lunch. It’s like all firehouse locations, food is good and staff was friendly.

For a chain, this place does excellent subs. Meats taste delicious and flavorful, much more so than the average chain, and the ingredients are fresh. I think that’s what differentiates this place from others. Also, large selection of sauces. I like the Coca Cola brand machine they have where you can mix what seems to be infinite combinations/​flavors. Overall, great for a quick, relatively healthy meal or just good quality subs.

As far as subs go this is the best place in the Durham area. All of the sandwiches that I have tried here are great. The atmosphere and artwork in the restaurant is themed to the area and very creative. Great sandwiches and huge portions.

For being a chain I would have to say that FS does a great job. I love a good sub and they make subs with a great variety of toppings. It’s not Jersey Mike’a but I definitely consider it a notch or two above Subway.

Firehouse is slowly winning me over my Publix subs back in Fl obsession. Love their under 500 calorie options which are satisfying for lunch and delicious. Cap’n Sorenson (or something like that-​the grilled chicken one) is yummy and their house sauce is really good. Had the hook and ladder lite and the turkey with salsa Verde and enjoyed these as well. I don’t believe there’s a bad sub on the list. Overall a frequently visited lunch spot for me!

This Firehouse has been consistently wonderful. The subs are always served hot with delicious flavor combinations. I always go for the Hook & Ladder or the Italian. I went for my birthday and got a free sub and amazing service. Thank you Firehouse for being awesome!

Delicious Italian sub is expected at any Firehouse Subs. The bread is sweet and buttery tasting. The cheese is creamy and the Italian seasoning is excellent.
I took my aunt here sense it was conveniently located by Duke Hospital and we’re expecting a FS in our area this summer. She enjoyed the steak and cheese. She said is wasn’t too hard for her to chew. It arrived at the table steaming hot.
The staff is helpful and one of the staff members was really friendly. We felt very welcomed. Flat screen tv at the front to watch sports/​news. I hope to find another coupon next time around.

#1 is yum. coke machine is magical. service is friendly. proximity to me is awesome. the sandwiches are also gigantic. worth the calories, definitely.

I’m a sucker for hot sauce, and this place has a very nice selection of them, all proudly lined up at the counter. Sometimes they can run low on some of the better ones, like the mango-​flavored one, but it’s a very interesting selection that complements the sandwich pretty well.
I like their sandwiches, what can I say? Pretty solid roast beef, toasty bread, what’s not to like? It’s a good option when you don’t feel like having Chipotle.

This was a very pleasant surprise. Chain sub shop, but a nice change from Subway, Quiznos, Jimmy Johns, etc. Really liked the bread they have. Subs are a good size and the meat to cheese to veggie to bread ratio is spot on.
This isn’t worth a trip out of the way, but if you are hungry for a sub and there’s one nearby, give it a try.

I’m not a huge fan of sub shops. Personally, I feel really bogged down in the afternoon after a loaf of bread for lunch. However, I know I’ll be making the exception for Firehouse in the future.
Compared to other restaurants in the vicinity, I think they’re one of the fastest places to grab something and go. However, they don’t compromise the quality of the sub for that speed. I would prefer this place any day over quiznos and certainly over subway.
I ate a turkey sub. Delivered exactly as ordered but much tastier than I expected. It didn’t taste like it was thrown into a microwave and the small size made me feel stuffed enough to be satisfied with just the sub… and the pickle on the side.
This place is a good option for a quick sub on the go that will fill you up and not leave you disappointed.
