Not to be the downer here, but … for such a great idea that happens to involve my favorite food, I really wanted the food to be better. I went with a basic grilled cheese, cheddar on sourdough. The«sourdough» wasn’t — it seemed more like light wheat. The sandwich was boring.(Again, the humble grilled cheese is usually my favorite food on earth!) The soup was ok. Ask for a spoon, since apparently it doesn’t come as a natural accompaniment. My friend got a pimento with tomatoes and bacon, and that was better.(Still not the best I’ve ever had, but it had some character and tastiness anyway.) Again, I LOVE the idea. Grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup should be served on every corner near you, and should absolutely be served from school buses. Brilliant. I like the do-goodiness of the business model too. But I want a better sandwich. (Note: I went a couple months ago, so perhaps things have changed since.)

What do you expect? It’s a grilled cheese bus… it has… well, grilled cheese. And pretty much only grilled cheese, but fortunately, it’s a very good grilled cheese– crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside — with your choice of breads(white and sourdough were the options when I went) and your choice of cheeses(cheddar, pepperjack and pimento). Bacon optional(but recommended) and served with some tomato soup«dipping sauce»(just a little thicker than a normal soup making it perfect for, well, dipping.) (And they take credit cards! Bonus!)

They offer a regular grilled cheese with cheddar cheese as well a few pimento cheese sandwiches. The best was the pimento cheese with bacon. This is not only a great place to eat but it’s also a great business idea. The boyfriend was still hungry afterwards though. It’s definitely not a full meal.
