This breakfast restaurant was recommended to us by a roofing contractor who said they eat there often and was a great place. So we decided to try it. It’s a small place and the first time we tried it, we could not find a parking place at 8:00am. They close at 11am and they probably open early. They have no menu or prices posted(or available) but they have the breakfast basics. I had eggs, country ham, hash browns, toast, grits and coffee. My wife had scrambled eggs, toast and grits. Our bill was $ 12. The breakfast was very good. They have one cook and one server. There is a long counter and about 5 — 2 seat tables. They have gravy biscuits and fried baloney and red hot sausage sandwiches. The owner/cook also gave me a sample of fried fatback cracklings which were very tasty. We’ll be going back. They are not open on Monday.

Best mom and pop type restaurant I’ve been to in a very long time. Serves breakfast. No menu. You just tell them what you want like you just made a visit to your grandmother’s. Food was delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. Don’t let the exterior fool you. It’s worth the visit!

Bottom Line: The best of a Southern Diner Experience: Friendly wait staff, chatty locals, and hearty portions of traditional breakfast fare served up at a great price. The Food: The cuisine is your classic American diner breakfast food — eggs, hash browns, pancakes, etc. The food is tasty and what you would expect of an independent southern diner: hearty portions and healthy amounts of grease but wonderful comfort food at a great price. This is where you might go if you want to try«real» North Carolina fare and is a great alternative to your chain Waffle House or Cracker Barrel. The Atmosphere: The place has an old time diner feel to it(more truckstop than Johnny Rockets) that is authentic. When I visited, it seemed only locals were eating there but this is probably because it’s not very easy to find. People are friendly and the workers call you sweetie and honey. A great place to go on a weekend with a newspaper in hand a willingness to exchange small talk. The Service: What really sets this place apart is the service. I was having my car detailed at Neoautomotive nearby. I didn’t have cash on me and the restaurant only takes cash. The owners were nice enough to serve me and let me pay the next day. It’s this friendliness and trust that made the experience here exceptional. Location: The restaurant is far off the beaten path and easily overlooked. Worth a trip out of the way if you are looking for a restaurant that serves hearty food with chatty locals. Other Details: The restaurant takes only cash and is only open for breakfast on weekends I think. Be sure to check ahead if you are coming a long distance.
